Stayed in Minturn for a long weekend and decided to pop in here for a beer and some food after a long day of hiking. I will always remember this place as having THE.BEST.CHICKEN. WINGS. I have ever had in my life, and I have had some good wings before from many different states. They were cooked to perfection, the sauces were delicious. In addition, they offer a huge variety of flavors. This place has a chill, laidback, lodgy bar feel to it. Great place to pop in and watch football, and of course eat wings. We had our Thanksgiving dinner provided by the Gourmet Cowboy this year. We were in Vail for the week and didn't know where to order. We took a shot and tried these guys. The menu sounded delicious and we were hopeful the food would be good too. We were blown away by the quality of the food. Just walking into their building to pick it up, we practically swooned from all the good smells. The turkey was fantastic - flavorful and moist. We had two kinds of stuffing and both were great (but the Andouille sausage one was amazing). The rolls were terrific and the potatoes were super too. The yams with candied pecans were exceptional (I'm starting to run out of adjectives here for great). And to top it off, we had yummy apple and pumpkin pie. We were so happy with The Gourmet Cowboy, we would recommend them to anyone and are telling the concierge at the condo we stayed at about them. We would absolutely order food from them again. After all the good reviews, we were very confident in going with GC for our wedding. Sadly, they fell very short. They were unable to deliver hot food to 18 people at once in less than 30 minutes. We had a simple menu, and the last person to be served waited 30 minutes after the first plate went down. To make matters worse, when we contacted them to discuss the issue, there was no apology and no admission of error. GC is transferring ownership in a few months, and the previous owner was not the "chef" at our event. I hope they get their act together, as businesses like this can fold easily. I had pleasure of working with so many great vendors throughout our wedding-planning process, but none stand out more to me than The Gourmet Cowboy (TGC). My husband and I both work in the food industry and are self-proclaimed foodies who love entertaining and good food, so our choice of caterer was really important to us. I got married at the Donovan Pavilion in Vail, and upon asking around about caterers, TGC continued to come up on everyone's list. I made arrangements to do tastings at three different caterers and the first place I visited with my fiancé and our moms was TGC. Being our first tasting, I did not know what to expect, but I was very surprised that both Sarah and Chef Tom from TGC joined us for the tasting. (I later found out through my best friend who used to work for a well-known caterer in Boulder that it is uncommon for the chef to join tastings and that this was a really great sign of TGC's quality of service.) We were completely blown away by the amazing food, and both Sarah and Tom were attentive to everything we mentioned throughout the tasting. My fiancé and I at one point mentioned that sourcing local ingredients is important to us so Sarah was sure to include Colorado meat and produce on our menu. My mother-in-law also made a passing comment that she doesn't care for vinegar-based salad dressing, so special accommodations were made for her. After just an hour working with Sarah and Tom, I knew that I had to have them cater our wedding. Their attention to detail and genuine passion for helping us create the best day of our lives was so apparent upon our first meeting that we quickly decided to hire them. Throughout my wedding planning process, Sarah became one of my most important assets. After we finalized the menu, appetizers, cocktails, etc., she was quick to offer help with things like rentals and venue layout. I ran countless questions by Sarah in the months before our wedding and she was always quick and thorough to respond. One decision that I regret in planning my wedding is that I hired a weekend-of coordinator right of way and did not spend a lot of time interviewing a lot of different people. In hindsight, if I had met Sarah before I met my other coordinator, I would have hired her in a heartbeat (TGC also offers coordination services). Not only is she professional, communicative and organized, but she knows Vail venues better than any outside coordinator you could bring in and I would strongly encourage other brides to vet all of their options and choose a coordinator who knows the venue well and already has a great relationship with your other vendors. Going into our wedding weekend, I was completely confident in the team at TGC and they did not disappoint. The service and staff was wonderful and our food was enjoyed by all. Sarah made sure that my husband and I got a chance to try all of the appetizers at cocktail hour and we were served our full meal right when everyone sat down for dinner to ensure we could spend time talking to all of our guests while they ate. Sarah and her team made sure that our families were also well taken care of, and my mom remarked to me after the wedding that she never had to worry about anything because Sarah was always right there to help. Our food was just as wonderful as we expected it to be and we received a lot of positive feedback about our menu and how great everything tasted. If I could give the GC 6 stars I would. They catered my wedding in July of 2014 at the Donovan Pavilion and they were amazing. Sarah Biggs is simply the greatest. She will email you back within the hour, she is so organized and she is so knowledgable when it comes to all things wedding and catering. This was really important to me because I had never used a caterer in my life, so I had no idea what to ask or what to do. I trusted her with everything and it was an amazing night! The food was great, they were willing to work with us and our budget and at the end of the day we had a great dinner, fantastic appetizers, and a great waitstaff. They made sure the night went perfectly and in my opinion went above and beyond for us...they even made my dad a special steak (he is picky) and followed up with him to make sure it was cooked correctly. I cannot recommend this company enough! They worked so hard for us and it showed in every way, shape and form. They were exceptional! read more

We had a HORRIBLE experience with Gourmet Cowboy! The tasting was hands down amazing so we were more than happy to book them for our wedding this past September. This is the bride speaking by the way. And then the wedding came and everything went to shit. Here goes my lengthy list of complaints. They were late showing up about an hour prior. Mind you the wedding took place on the roof top of a 4 story house. The food was like eating left overs. The meat was raw and the bread could have shattered if you threw it on the ground. The food was cold and I was the first to eat. Some of the original menu was missing and they blamed it on the kids getting to it before anyone else could. That's hilarious considering there were only 3 kids out of 75 people none of which could reach the stand up tables. One of the staff was incredibly rude to my sister. They put the left overs in the freezer so we had to throw out about $500 of food. A lot of these mistakes we probably wouldn't have even cared about if we hadn't spent over 6 grand to make my day special. When my family confronted the owners of all of the problems they just miraculous became really hard to get a hold of. Huh funny how that works. After countless tries with very little communication the guy owner told my mom that she was harassing them and that his wife didn't need this because she has a new baby at home. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!! No I am not making this up. My advice, never pay a catering company full price until after the event. They are a joke. I just feel bad for my parents for trusting them. The owners took advantage of them and we got screwed. Good thing Karma exists. read more
