The first time I entered a GBK was in Dublin and didn't realize it was a chain. However, this is one of the chains I really enjoy. The location of the GBK in Nottingham is really convenient and it makes for a pleasant dining experience. It is located in Trinity Square, with a nice outside seating area. It is near the cinema and near the Victoria Centre, so you can catch a movie, shop, and top it off with a good burger!
The staff were very friendly and gave me a refresher on needing to order at the till, but they would bring the food to me. I also enjoy the fact that I can control how much ice I want in my drink (I know it is an American thing...), but the glass sizes were tiny so it meant having to get up a few times during my meal to refill. I have been to this GBK a couple of times and every time I have stuck with the Mexican burger. It has salad, spicy kidney beans, guacamole, sour cream and salsa and it is DELICIOUS!
I will say however, some of the burgers come in smaller sizes, and while I always come hungry enough to tackle one of these, it would be nice if the Mexican burger could have a smaller option as well. And while you indicate how you want your burger cooked... mine always comes out more pink in the center than I would like. The burgers do not come with any sides, so if you want some fries, you'll have to order that separately. However, I would highly suggest a small side of the chunky fries. If I remember I ask if they can make them a little crispy... since they are chunky already, it means that the outside will be crisp, but the inside will still be nice and soft. Some of the sauces are hit and miss... I didn't like the barbeque sauce, as I am very picky about my barbeque sauce. The garlic mayo is nice and the sour cream is a more refreshing dip, but you could save yourself the money and stick with good ol' ketchup... or go without sauce as the fries by themselves are nice.
When I want a burger, this is where I head to. read more
