Unacceptable quality for a $100 cake, ruined by defensive customer service…read more We ordered a custom cake from Biscotts for our daughter's 1st birthday, paying nearly $100 expecting premium quality. What we received was an amateur product and some of the worst customer service we've encountered. When we arrived to pick up the cake, we noticed they had piped the name as "AMEL" in pink and the last two letters "ia" in black gel. When we pointed this out, we had to wait almost an hour at the bakery while our guests were already waiting at our home. The second attempt was just as bad--shaky, messy handwriting on a surface that was visibly scuffed from scraping off the first mistake. As a final "fix," they slapped an unevenly broken chocolate rectangle with the name over the middle of the cake, which completely ruined the aesthetic. When we brought up the poor lettering, the owner dismissed our concerns with sarcasm, remarking that "a 1-year-old won't remember the handwriting anyway." To make matters worse, the cake itself was inedible. The top cream layer was grainy, separating, and distinctly bitter. Not a single guest could finish their slice, and the entire cake went straight into the trash. When we called the next day to share our experience, instead of apologizing, they deflected blame onto us, claiming everything happened because we arrived late to pick it up. Arriving late does not cause a decorator to use two different colors for a child's name, nor does it make fresh cream turn grainy and bitter. Paying a premium price should come with basic attention to detail, good taste, and accountability. Biscotts failed on all three. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I wanted to find a traditional French boulangerie in SLC but did not see one, Zut alors!…read more I know Paris Baguette is a chain and has an Asian twist so we decided to visit on Saturday morning before driving back to Boise. It was early, and it was already busy. TIPs & TRICKs Follow the rules: Get the tray, then the wax paper liner, then use the individual wax papers at the stations to grab what you want. While you're doing that, pay attention to the pricing, because it can add it. To see the plain butter croissants empty already was shocking, but when we told the employee she came back to not only stock it but came to us first and let us pick which ones we wanted off the tray That was very nice The pain du chocolat looked good and were lacking in depth and flakiness of the crunch The Chausson aux Pommes - was really good - They could have used another minute or two in the oven to get that golden brown. They were looking like the pastly white guy at the beach while everyone else had a tan The mochi Dubai Chocolate donut was very good. The total was almost fifty bucks.... I told my wife that we could have about 40 croissants for that price if we were in Paris. C'est la vie! Look for a chain - Its pretty good. I didn't try the coffee but if they ever show up in Boise metro area, I would check them out to see if they match up with SLC.

There are a few gift items, although they felt a little dated and all around the same theme-perhaps a little more variety would make it fun to browse and find a gift. They are known for their gingerbread cookies-which are absolutely darling. I opted for a variety pack of cookies-a solid choice anytime you can't make a choice-as well as a single gingerbread cookie decorated like a bright sunshine. Service was friendly and welcoming-just what you'd hope to experience in a small business. The cookies were ok. I prefer smaller cookies and these were a little thick for my liking. Personal preference, I know.

There were so many cute shaped and decorated gingerbread cookies. They would make a cute little gift. There were sharks, watermelons, strawberries, dinosaurs, etc. ($5.99 each.) You can buy cookie variety packs. That's what I did, and they had gingerbread, peanut butter and chocolate chip. (Two of each.) There were also some sweet bread loaves, and some squares of chocolate brownies/cake. The place even carries birthday supplies; candles, plates, etc. There were some home kitchen decor items as well. The gingerbread cookies and the peanut butter cookies were the best!! The chocolate chip cookies were okay. They were more of a cakey texture and not really mine or my family's favorite. But the gingerbread was different from the typical gingerbread. They were thick and fluffy and soft. Peanut butter were so soft, moist and mouth-wateringly tasty. A peanut butter lovers dream, really. They brought me back to my childhood, an old friend's mom's cookies she used to make. The service was nice. I will come back for more.
