It is truly a mistake to sign a lease in any one of Gotham Organization's properties in NYC. Whether it's Gotham West, Atlas, Mabury, Nicole, Ashland, Suffolk, Gotham Point or another high-rise, you will have nothing but headaches from the C.O.R.R.U.P.T. management. Rent increases mid-lease, illegal extra charges, coercive efforts to force signatures on illegal riders -- they have even stolen money out of a tenant's checking account. Their most minor administrative flunkies are allowed to threaten tenants. Stay away from anything and everything associated with Gotham Organization. Beware or be sorry. read more

Gotham West is a well maintained luxury apartment complex. The concierge desk staff are very well mannered and great with responding to every need. My Mom lived here for 5 years before moving to assisted living. She loved it here, was on a first name basis with everyone who adored her. Thank you, Jason, Michael and John! Great views on the rooftop where you can lounge, excellent gym, cozy indoor fireplace lounge, and many amenities. A good mix of New York city personalities live here, thus 'people-watching' in the lobby was quite entertaining. Plus, Mom talked to everyone! As mentioned here, it is a pet friendly building with a plethora of little dogs and the little annoying 'gifts' they leave on the sidewalks. I have lived here for almost 3 years and from management to cleanliness this place is on point I had a few complications with my acct as far as my payments due to my bank and the team here have been so undertanding and helpful . I wouldnt wanna live anywere else you guys totally rock . She was professional but also flexible with us and our needs. She didn't oversell either - we are super happy with the building so far. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and always ready to lend a hand. We had a bathroom emergency at 11pm on a Saturday and got someone to our apartment within 3 minutes. Ive been living here for about 3 months now in a cozy little studio and it has been by far the best living experience I could possibly ask for! The building is clean and modern yet still welcoming and warm. Repairs are always handled within 24 hours after I request them and the gym has been a godsend during the pandemic. Its open 24/7 and has everything any serious lifter could ask for (plus a Peloton bike!). The rooftop and garden and lounge are also all so stunning and well maintained! The building also hosts super cute events each month - they gave out cake pops for Valentine's Day and I got to do a cooking class and wine tasting! But it's been the amazing staff here that has truly made living here such a treat! From little chats with the front desk to helping me out with actual issues, everyone has been so great! I recently dropped my phone down the elevator shaft and Tony the building manager was able to get my phone back bless his soul. And I did have an issue with a neighbor's barking dog but management helped me handle it and it's been peace and quiet ever since! I spent one glorious year living at Gotham West. The staff could not be nicer. They always looked out for us, especially when we had to shelter in place. The amenities are fabulous. I loved the rooftop. The view is fantastic and it was a great way to be outside during the pandemic. It's never crowded. The lounge with a fireplace was a tranquil space to relax. I also enjoyed the gym and business office. Our apartment had an amazing view. Coming back to NY after 40 years, it was a real treat to take in the city from my apartment. I highly recommend Gotham. Loved living here for 3 years. I could not imagine a more responsive staff, a cleaner building, or a better rooftop. Nothing but good things to say for this community. Breaking it down: - cleanliness: 5 out of 5. Immaculate common spaces, clean elevators, even the refuse room is well kept. I saw one roach in 3 years. That is unheard of in midtown! The staff always respond quickly and politely to cleaning requests. - space: 5 out of 5. I had a 3 bedroom corner unit, and my bedroom was the size of a small studio. The bathroom was like a walk in closet! Very spacious - staff: 5 out of 5. They select and train the best people to be their front desk and porters. Always helpful and polite and they know the building inside and out. - roof and common areas: 5 out of 5. There is no finer roof deck in midtown. It feels like an exclusive club or hotel! And the lounge on the first floor and the second floor terrace is ideal for hosting a small cocktail party. Finally the gym was better than most hotel gyms! Amenities cost $40-60 per person per month but are well worth it. Value: 4 out of 5. My only slight detraction would be the luxury prices for an area (outskirts of Hell's Kitchen) that is not as high demand. On 11th ave there is not a lot to do or see, and 12th ave is the west side highway. Still, this is a minor ding. Overall I loved my time here and do not have any complaints! Three years ago, I was searching for a new apartment, and was unsure about moving to a new place at first, and then I met Krystal and she walked me through several apartments, and was super helpful and knowledgeable about every step in the process and even went so far as to send me different floorplans and options that would work best for my lifestyle and ended up finding the perfect apartment. I love all the amenities and all of the staff are extremely helpful and maintenance is usually pretty quick to handle any issues that come up. I loved my time at Gotham West. My unit had great natural lighting, all of the appliances were in good condition and I rarely heard noise from my neighbors. Any time I had an issue, the maintenance team was responsive in addressing it. The community spaces were always clean and well kept. So far I've been living at Gotham West for seven months. I LOVE this place. If I could give 10 stars, I would! This place feels like home. Super comfy, great views facing midtown/Hudson Yards, perfect amenities, clean, and modern. They frequently have events to make the place feel like a community. The staffs are helpful and they really take good care of the building. They frequently clean the carpets in the shared spaces, polish the floors, wipe down the pool tables, clean the glass windows/doors, and hose down the sidewalks. Although they wash their sidewalks, the only downside that I could only think of is there's still a lot of dog poop/pee on the block since the building is pet friendly with $0 fee which doesn't come often in modern buildings in NYC! read more

I've been in Gotham West for 2 years now and just re-signed for a third. I've really enjoyed my time here...love my alcove studio apartment. It's the perfect size for me I like the layout where the sleeping area is separate from the living area. The building has always been fairly responsive to my needs and maintenance requests. The doormen are all attentive and the building is well-maintained. I guess my two minor complaints are the dog waste situation on 45th st...the building has been trying to keep it clean but when you have hundreds of dog owners walking their dogs there multiple times a day, you're gonna get a lot of excrement. And second is the Lincoln tunnel traffic honking. Unfort I live on a low floor facing 11th ave so during rush hour on Thu or Fri nights I will hear incessant honking bc drivers end up blocking 11th trying to cross. But otherwise I love living here, the location, the staff and amenities, and love that the building is also rent stabilized so I know the rent won't be jacked up on me year-to-year. read more

This building has THE WORSE MANAGEMENT, I have lived in this building for 4 years. The Management is terrible, Astrid in management would never respond to emails, everything breaks. I pay over 5k a month for things to be broken constantly. When maintenance finally shows up they try to fix the washer/dryer with broken parts so they end up coming back numerous times (if they even show up!). The guy who runs the building George is terrible. I didn't have AC for over a year and thanks to Gio he fixed it and put in a new unit... Gio is the only reason things get fixed in this building. Jason at the front desk is a really nice respectful helpful guy ... One of the few who aren't rude at the front desk. George tells his handy men to fix things with broken parts and refuses to buy new things so he saves money for the building, which then he in turn gets a bigger bonus. I would not suggest living in this building for this price . I would move out to a different building if not for Covid. My washer dryer breaks every week, all of the AC units leak and ruin the wood floors, then the building has the nerve to want the tenant to pay for THEIR AC UNITS LEAKING! I moved within the building to a new apartment and the building has yet to fix under my sink . They keep telling me "tomorrow" we are now weeks later. DO NOT MOVE TO GOTHAM WEST. They abandoned the building during covid and didn't clean, everyone then got covid . Entire building infected. AVOID GOTHAM WEST. This is a raw and honest review. Update: Funny in 2 years I have not been able to get Gotham West to respond to me or my phone calls regarding issues in my unit and my neighbor constantly smoking cigarettes her dog that barked all night, all day excessively.. every single night. Gotham front desk and management would say "can you take a video of it otherwise we can't confirm"... so at 2am and 3am nightly I'd have to get up, go get my iPhone from charger and get video footage of the dog barking just for them to write a complaint! This was for an entire year.. no one ever responded until a year later .. and still nothing was done........ Yet finally after years I write a review and they get back to me... I should have wrote this review years ago... Took half the building dying from corona virus and them abandoning it for me to actually write one... * My neighbor to the right died in his apartment and was found days later... my neighbor to the left died as well. Building refused to tell anyone they were infected with covid in February! Not one person didn't get infected. Period. read more

PROs: The front desk guys are really nice. They do their jobs professionally. I like Jason and Timothy especially. Giovanni is a handyman in the building and he is fantastic. The concierge is also very nice. The amenities are nice but each tenant pays an extra fee monthly for them. The rooftop has fantastic views. The gym is not big but clean. The apartments are modern and their appliances are nice. My apartment has gorgeous unobstructed north views. CONs: Now to the reality of this so-called 'luxury building'. First, there's dog pee all over the entrance of this building, its walls, and the sidewalk. Dog poop and pee is scattered across the street. I always have to navigate around it. It's just gross. The building is so-called 'pet-friendly' which means it's invaded by dogs. They bark, they annoy, they're too many, and the building will do absolutely nothing about this mess. The apartments have thin walls. I can hear my neighbors' dogs bark every day through them, and I have neighbors on each side of the apartment who have dogs. In total, they're 3 small yappy dogs. But dogs are everywhere on my floor. I can hear them bark from many apartments. On top of all this, I've also had problems with my neighbors (with 2 dogs) playing extremely loud music so many times too. I've been living here for almost 2 years and can't wait to get out. I've been told I can do a lease assignment, meaning I'll find someone to take over the remainder of my lease. They tell me this even though the tenants I speak of are in violation of the tenant agreement by having dogs constantly disturbing neighbors. Since I've moved in the tenants at Gotham West have only gotten worse and it seems like they'll move anyone in, hence the trashy neighbors I have. Street noise is a pain with 11th Ave traffic often going insane with non-stop honking and construction nearby will be so loud it wakes you up in the morning and continues throughout the day. The subway is far. It's 3 avenues away. The kitchen sinks are flat and everything splashes around and nothing goes down the drain. You have to make an effort to make it go down. The apartments have radiators/air conditioners combined. The radiator often gives loud bangs (even after repairs) and the a/c which needs to be on a lot in the hot summer months will be annoyingly loud. The blinds in the rooms don't cover the windows entirely and light will come into the rooms. This always affects my sleep. Astrid Bradshaw is the senior community manager, who supposedly takes care of tenant complaints. She doesn't do her job. She will ignore many of your emails as she did with me. She never follows up and will often leave a matter without closure. Astrid is a huge disappointment. Now, is this the definition of a 'luxury building' for which you pay a premium rent? Even when you're on one of the top floors which are way more expensive? Gotham West gets 1 star from me because that's the lowest I can give. Don't be fooled by the looks of this building, it is not what you think it is. And please Gotham West, don't reply to this review. You have failed greatly already and can't do a thing to rectify it. I am leaving you. I just want to warn people before they even consider moving into your building. They, like me, deserve as much of the truth as possible. read more

I am so happy we chose Gotham West as our new home! Having just relocated here from Chicago, the apartment hunt was a rather daunting task. Gotham West was the last building/apartment we toured out of 15+ places. Instantly it felt like home and our apartment is beautiful with amazing city views! Krystal was a pleasure to work with! Her and the rest of the leasing team/concierge made moving in so easy. So far everything has been pretty perfect. The building has great amenities and perks. Love the lounge/work space and the gym is better than most building gyms. The location is also great, especially with having two dogs it's so nice being right by the water and having a dog park a few blocks up. If you love the smell of cigarettes, you should totally live here. Apparently there is a "no smoking policy", but it's more of a recommendation because the building does nothing to enforce it other than a casual email "warning". It's a problem on multiple floors - so make sure you fully investigate before moving in. I live on the 22nd floor, and unfortunately learned that I share a vent with a chain smoker. Everyday I wake up to the smell of cigarettes and come home to the smell of weed and cigarettes. My clothing and furniture have fully absorbed these lovely aromas. So, other than smelling like an ashtray 24/7 - Beautiful building, friendly staff and amazing rooftop. read more

It's sad that when you enter the building guest or tenant the door man is not only short and rude but he obviously does not care about to adhere to safety standards when the mask he is wearing is not even covering his nose and mouth. As a nurse having worked through this Pandemic along side many doorman and essential workers, the lack of safety measures and sanitary measures in these unprecedented times and in such a new building is not only shocking but unacceptable. While lovely in many respects, this is not a safe building in which to live during the COVID pandemic. The management adamantly refuses to enforce mask-wearing in the lobby, elevators, or hallways despite the fact that there was a COVID cluster in the building that caused the deaths of tenants. A significant number of tenants refuse to wear masks despite Governor Cuomo's Executive Order making it unlawful not to cover one's mouth and nose in public places where social distancing is not possible. Gotham Management claims that only the police can enforce the law even though Cuomo made it clear that establishments are responsible for enforcing compliance, not only in their premises, but also on the sidewalks out front. Also, leases have prohibitions from breaking laws for which tenants can be evicted, but Gotham refuses to enforce any law for fear of losing a paying tenant. Masks aside, the management doesn't enforce social distancing either. Initially, they put up a few little paper signs - worded as friendly reminders, not mandates - but then removed all the ones in the elevators to make room for advertising. They also permit tenants to allow their dogs to poop freely on the sidewalk and pee on the side of the building right next to the entrance. They have video of every instance and know exactly which deadbeat tenants aren't curbing their dogs, but they refuse to stop it. Instead, Gotham Management just sends its over-worked maintenance staff of mostly minorities and immigrants out to clean up the poop of its luxury tenants' dogs. The service and amenities at Gotham West are top notch. lived here for a year and had a great experience. The management and maintenance crew are very responsive. The front desk is professional and friendly. They will do anything for you and really keep the building running well. The building is well-maintained and clean. The gym is well-equipped, for an apartment gym and even offers free classes taught by instructors that also moonlight at expensive studios, like Barry's. It's the real deal. The roof offers stunning views of Manhattan and the Hudson River. As for the apartments, they are quiet and well-appointed. The appliances and finishes are high end, rarely seen in a rental at this price point. I found the building a bit far from the subway for my taste, but on the other hand it was nice living way from all the noise and tourists that come with being closer to Times Square. The bars and restaurants on 10th Ave are great and the sunrise market on 11th Ave is perfect and open all night. But I can't day enough about the service. You are paying for professionals who go above and beyond. When I moved out, my movers misplaced some my items. I was stressed about it for a week. Management checked security cameras and located my items, even after I moved out. I couldn't recommend this place more. read more

We looked at so many other buildings in this area and immediately fell at home when we walked into Gotham's lobby. Andrés was friendly, informative, and quick to help us get our lease signed, as we were fighting to get the last 1BR available. While all of the buildings in this area are beautiful and have specific features and amenities unique to the potential renter. The staff is always very friendly and quick to resolve any issues we may have, on the rare instance that we do. Location is super convenient, especially living right above Gotham Market. My favorite part is the fun events they host monthly, such as the Super Bowl party with pizza, subs, and drinks from Corner Slice! read more

The leasing office at Gotham West is really great - working with Shoshana was seamless and so easy that we signed our lease within two days. We made an appointment last minute and the office found a way to "squeeze us in" for a full hour - Shoshana (our leasing agent) was so helpful and showed us all around the building, everything from the amenities down to the tiny details in the apartment. The office was not pushy in any way, something that was really nice in New York. Shoshana offered to help us find the perfect fit for our needs, something that a lot of leasing offices were not necessarily willing to do in the Hell's Kitchen area. Gotham West is a beautiful building, it is clean, the finishes in the apartments are extremely nice, it is somewhere that you can really make feel like home. Not only is the leasing office great but the concierge and front desk team are so helpful. My move was extremely easy and everyone did whatever possible to make sure that it went smoothly. I personally really like the building - being a luxury rental in midtown west, GW is one of the most affordable for the amenity/service/location. still expensive but not outrageous. units are small, but it's pretty standard in NYC. the front desk staffs are pretty friendly and we considered moving there seriously. The only thing that ruined the experience and left a bad taste was the leasing office staff. the particular personnel who handled a poorly schedule showing with us would fit better in a street brawl rather than a customer service role for a real estate lease up rental. Gotham does not have a good reputation when it comes to the leasing office, but that was a new low. read more

The building itself is easy to love with wonderful amenities and friendly doormen, but Michael from their leasing team made it a stress-free and enjoyable experience. He was totally transparent and forthcoming about rental prices and agreements, but on top it he took lots of time speaking with my husband and I at length about the available units. He also accommodated our requests to come by and narrow down our search, as well as some take measurements in the unit before moving in. We've toured a lot of buildings in Manhattan, and with Michael it felt like touring with a friend and not someone to "sell" you on something. Not only is it overpriced for its off the beat location (3 avenues to subway), but it's leasing arm does not warn anyone about the noise problem from club Pasha for people choosing apartments on the W 45th street side. Noise from the bass music from midnight to 4 am on weekends is very annoying. The building has slanted floors and the heaters pop like 1960's radiators when heating. Not good for new construction. There are good reasons this place is far from fully occupied. The building isn't worth the money paid (4K for a one bedroom), and with the many other problems we've experienced but won't expound upon, we would rate it zero if we could. read more

My boyfriend and I have lived at Gotham West for the last 6 months and we have had nothing but great things to say. Our leasing agent at the time Mr Douglas Schmich was extremely helpful and attentive to our requests and needs throughout the entire process. The building has a wide variety of apartment sizes and layouts compared to most cookie cutter buildings in the area which leaves many options for the potential renter. The agents there are truly looking out for you and will provide as much assistance and info during the contract process. The staff, maintenance and front desk/doorman have been absolutely amazing and on point during our entire stay thus far. Communication and updates are immediate and manageable via their BuildingLink mobile/web app. The amenities are key and ones that you will not find in other buildings in the area. The meeting/conference/entertaining center off the first floor lobby are gorgeous and readily available. The fitness center has plenty of cardio, free weights, machines and also offers daily fitness classes. If you have a personal trainer you can also utilize the space with them. My favorite part of the building is the gorgeous roof deck which is opened throughout the Spring, Summer and early Fall. It's perfect for sun bathing, hosting events and amazing sights of the skyline to the east and the Hudson to the west. The building is extremely diverse and welcoming. This is the absolute worst building in all of NYC. I have never encountered a more unprofessional leasing office. If I ran this building I would fire Cynthia immediately. We scheduled a viewing for a 2 br/2 ba apartment. We called, emailed and confirmed the appointment. We arrived 30 mins early and were asked to wait in the lobby. When we asked again to check on the status we were told there was no appointment made and Cynthia refused to accommodate us despite my 7 month pregnant wife and I both having scheduled the appointment 6 days in advance and having taken the day off work. I would avoid this building at all costs. We've lived here for over five years. The staff works incredibly hard from the porters, cleaning crew, front desk, leasing office and concierge. The apartments are well maintained and serviced when needed. The amenities are superior to other buildings including the gym which is well equipped. The convenience of Gotham Market with 5+ great restaurants, a bike shops, garage parking in the building add to the value. The rooftop and waterfront 2 blocks away give you easy access to unwind from the bustle of the city I highly recommend Gotham West! read more
