This is the best apartment building in midtown area. I've been living in Atlas New York for over a year and my experience with the building has always been positive. The building management and leasing team is very kind, helpful and efficient. I made an urgent lease related request recently and the team helped me and pushed through. Lydia and her team are absolutely the best. In addition, the concierge team is so wonderful. They treat everyone with kind and respect, and they know everyone personally. The maintenance team is always professional and efficient. If you open a request, it'll be taken care of within a day. You won't regret choosing atlas!! read more

The only redeeming quality about this building is the staff at the front desk. They are honestly the nicest people. If you are looking for a luxury building, don't live here. The building management and maintenance is a mess. They shut off the water all the time and always have to do repairs. Usually they give you notice, but not today. They shut off water for all apartments below the 32nd floor until 8 am tomorrow with no notice! I pay over $5,000 monthly for a one bedroom and I can't even flush the toilet. What a joke. Do yourself a favor and live somewhere else if you want basic amenities like a functioning toilet and shower. read more

I lived here for 3 years and loved it! Yes, it's pricey and the midtown location can be overwhelming. However, the building amenities, units and staff make it all worth it. The building is very well maintained - Tom, Byron, Elvis, and all of the on site staff are incredible! By the time I moved out, Tom knew all of my friends and family and they still ask me how he's doing. The amenities are all cleaned daily and fixed quickly. Even in-unit requests were quicker than you would find at a hotel (our fridge broke and they had the full fridge replaced with a brand new one within the hour!). The rooftop, gym, lounge, package delivery, and general maintenance were all seamless. The units are spacious with big closets and beautiful windows. The windows are so thick that we rarely had to turn on our heat since it was insulating, and the noise was never an issue (we were on the 36th floor). We added in a bookshelf as well to split the living room into two spaces which was helpful. Our unit had plenty of windows too for natural light (even with the bookshelf). Management and the leasing office isn't as responsive or helpful as you'd expect them to be based on the responsiveness of the on site staff. I moved out 9 months ago and I am still getting emails about my old units rent, despite being asked every month to be removed. Generally speaking, you don't need to interact with management though because Tom has the building under control. Overall, would highly recommend this property. read more

We had a great experience living here for 2 years! - amazing staff w/ very clean building - great service; anytime we needed a repair things were done quickly & efficiently - fun community events (virtual cooking class, free popsicles, etc.) throughout the year was an unexpected bonus - Community supported agriculture with Lancaster CSA is delivered right to your door all year round - we took advantage of this. The location is super convenient for commuting, shopping, dining, etc. with a Whole Foods next door. Highly recommend! read more

Out of all the apartments I have lived at in my 10 years in New York, I have lived at Atlas the longest. The building is well-maintained and I rarely have issues with my apartment. When I need maintenance assistance, the service is quick, timely, and professional. Atlas also has the most kind and hardworking on-site, who are all very down-to-earth. They have treated me, my family, and my friends well for the last few years. The gym open 24 hours. It is also moderately sized and clean. There's an app where I can schedule fitness classes and/or reserve gym time slots. The rooftop view has a 360 view of all of Manhattan. There is also an amazing view of the Empire State building. The elevators are in the process of being upgraded. Management is investing in the building to maintain the attractiveness of the apartment. My apartment unit is a 1 bedroom and insulates well against heat, cold, and sound. Before I moved in, Atlas also replaced parts of the kitchen and the hardwood floors so it felt like I was moving into a completely new and unused apartment. I'm happy living here and hope I can continue to live here for many more years. read more

EDIT: After speaking with the building representative I can re-recommend this building. They are actively addressing the concerns regarding the elevator and laundry and have explained the operational usefulness of projects such as the lobby. -old out of date review-- Apartments are okay - location and room maintenance/doormen are good, but it is clear management is more interested in superficial amenities than core parts of the building. For example, 2-3 out of the 4 elevators are often out of service during busy hours, and has gotten stuck before (for a luxury builiding, this is not optimal). Recently they "upgraded" the laundry room to have more expensive machines but multiple dryers/machines have had more issues than before. At the same time, management spent substantially more time in a lobby makeover and hiring a new concerige for extra social events. I view the former 2 as far more important to take care of than the latter. read more

I've lived in a few buildings in NYC so far and this one was impressive. Beyond great apartments, amenities and location, the real difference is their team. They'll do everything they can to make you feel right at home from the get-go. Not only the doormen (Tom, Byron...) and maintenance team (Kerry...), but also the management team (Olivia, Anthony, etc.). We had to break our lease, they allowed us to find a replacement and supported us through the process. Olivia in particular was super reactive and helpful throughout a pretty stressful situation. That isn't common in NYC. I'll miss the Atlas!! read more

TL;DR Leasing agent at this building sucks This is a review for my experience with leasing office agent, Olivia Khaimov. I called the leasing office on a Monday morning about possibly moving into the building and to ask what units were available. I gave her the rundown of what I was looking for, and she stated she had only one unit available. Checking housing rental websites, 3 others were listed as available (with unit layouts I preferred). When I inquired about those units, Olivia stated that they were indeed available, but would be vacant for more than 5 days beyond my desired move-in date (which, for the record, I had told her I was flexible on my move-in date). Olivia then said she wouldn't be available to arrange for any showings by phone, and asked that I e-mail her. I did so, and received a response 36 hours later that she would be available for a showing, or virtual tour, later that Friday. (4 days later). She did not offer to transfer me to another leasing agent who had more availability. I felt she was brusque, condescending, disinterested, and dismissive. I was visiting NYC from out of town, hoping to move in one month. I had seen several other apartments I had liked, and was looking to check out the Atlas as it had the most ideal location for my wants/desires. I also didn't want to lose a rental unit at another building that I liked, given the quick turnover of the NYC rental market. After this experience, I decided to sign with another (nearby) apartment building, with a different management company. The building itself looks very nice. I'll never know what it's like to live in it. I hope your experience is better than mine. read more

For a rental building the Atlas is a pretty good choice for large apartments with good layouts and numerous closets. We were lucky because our apartment was just renovated before we moved in, so the kitchen and bathroom are brand new and the floors are redone (no more parquet). The amenities are great as well - the gym is decent, roof deck has a fantastic view, doormen are mostly friendly (Tom is the best!), and free coffee and pastries is a nice perk. However, the management and leasing company are pretty incompetent and I try to avoid dealing with them unless absolutely necessary. I had a few questions as we were signing our lease, moving in, etc. and tried to email them to get answers. Every single time I emailed someone, I was told to email someone else, then the next person would redirect me, etc. multiple times. It was frustrating and a huge waste of time, especially right in the middle of moving. I've tried emailing the concierge a few times with questions but have always been redirected to ask the doorman instead. I'm still not sure who the concierge is/what exactly they can help with, although the brochure indicated the concierge could help with anything you need. read more

I have been a tenant of the Atlas for about 3 years and really enjoyed the experience. My apartment has good sound insulation, fast elevators, a beautiful rooftop deck, fantastic views, and a very convenient location. The icing on the cake is the senior leasing agent, Liza, who is the most responsive and helpful professional there is (I would hire her if I could!). She always answered all my questions within minutes and showed great care for her work. Also, Byron, one of the most dedicated and kind doormen I've ever had. He is a gentleman and a scholar! They should promote him ASAP! The rest of the management is OK. Some better than others. But generally fine. If you're looking to live in midtown, look no further. I truly enjoyed living here and would recommend the Atlas to anyone. read more

I've lived at the Atlas for 2 years and just signed another lease. I've been quite happy here until recently, but I'm hopeful the situation will improve. The Bad: - I thought the walls were nice and thick, but it turned out we were just blessed with quiet neighbors. Some new folks moved in next door and, although we have an elevator bank between our apartments, they've really disturbed our sleep and quality of life. Their TV is always on, and it's so loud that it actually shakes our bedroom walls. Their dogs bark and howl constantly. All the neighbors on our floor have complained, as well as the neighbors upstairs and downstairs. Management has said they're talking to the tenants about getting a dog walker and training the dogs, but the dogs bark even while the tenants are home, so I don't know how that can help. The leasing office was able to give us some flexibility in signing our new lease, which I appreciate, because we're going to give it another month or two to see if the dogs calm down before we're forced to move. I like the building and hope we don't have to move. But beware that your noise level will depend very much on who your neighbors are. - We used to have fabulous views of the Empire State Building and downtown, but a hotel was built across the street, so now we have hotel rooms looking directly into our windows. That's not the fault of the building, but the once-spectacular views from our living room were a major draw. - The lobby is under remodel, which is supposed to be completed in the next couple months. It's been quite the pain to have to use the very cold service entrance and walk through a construction zone. I understand the need for improvements and maintenance, but I hope this isn't a sign that more portions of the building are going to be slated next for shutdowns/renovations. The Good: - The staff is fantastic. Everyone from the front door staff to the porters to the maintenance staff are competent and friendly. Management has also been quite responsive and pleasant to interact with. - The views from the roof deck are simply amazing. The rooftop is a big reason why we chose the building and continue to stay here. Yoga classes are held on the roof on summer evenings, and the building throws fun events up there. Having that fabulous outdoor and entertaining space has been the best part of living here. - Maintenance has always been very prompt (same day or next day) - Our windows are fairly sound-resistant. While you can hear some street noise, it's rarely bad enough to wake me up. (Now the dogs next door, on the other hand... lol.) If you're noise sensitive, I recommend living on the east side of the building, and not on the 6th Avenue side. - The people who live here are mostly professionals, and we've been lucky to have really awesome people living on our floor. Except for the new neighbors, people in the building tend to be friendly and quiet, and mostly keep to themselves. It's certainly not a party building. If we do end up moving, I'll update my review with how the move-out process goes and whether there are any shenanigans with our security deposit. read more

I've lived here for the past three years and my parents the past two years. We've had a really great experience living at the Atlas. The apartments are very clean, quiet and spacious, especially for NYC standards. It's located in a busy part of NYC with easy access to restaurants, Whole Foods, Bryant park, train lines, and K-town. I've gotten to know all the staff members (Tom, Steven, Carlos, Elvis, Byron, Danny, many more) and they have all been super friendly and helpful. It really seems like a family here. Every maintenance request has been addressed in a prompt manner. One thing that needs improvement is the speed in which they are renovating the elevators. They have been renovating the elevators one at a time (four total), which leaves 3 working elevators. This has led to long waits for the elevator, but this is just a minor annoyance and still doesn't take away from the great experience I've had living here. read more

My wife and I have had an excellent experience overall in our 2 years here. Atlas appears well-run, management has been responsive when we've needed them, and the doormen are great. The rents are very reasonable for what you get, presumably because a lot of people don't want to live in midtown. We looked at similar buildings/units about 12 blocks south in Chelsea, for $1000/month more. Some points: - The views on the roof deck are SPECTACULAR. 360 degrees mostly unobstructed on the 47th floor and the Empire State Building is right in your face. I'd pay hundreds a month for the roof deck alone. The downsides are that it's closed for about 6 months of the year, and it closes early nightly (10 if I recall). - We're happy with the unit itself. Our "F" line 1br unit is well laid out, lots of closets, no wasted space, plus an open kitchen with breakfast bar. The bathroom is much nicer than other similar buildings we've lived in. - The area is very polarizing, but for putting up with the craziness, you get extreme convenience. Virtually anything we need is a short walk away now that Whole Foods opened across from Bryant Park. It's probably the best place in the city for subways: 123, BDFM, NQRW within ~3 blocks, plus 456 and ACE not too far away. Penn Station and Grand Central are both short walks, ~10 mins. Refinery hotel across the street is great to have. read more

I have been here for a few years not and I really don't like it too much. I find the management to be pretty bad and slow to answer requests. When I moved in I was so happy with the view of the Empire State building I had now an ugly hotel is being constructed obstructing my view. The view from the roof it very nice however seems like always that people are drinking and getting drunk on the roof top so it kind of ruins the peacefulness of the experience. Funny because there are cameras on the roof also. This is a tell tale sign that someone is not doing their job. The doorman seem nice but I see they are not too friendly to minorities in the building. If you are over 50 like me I would not recommend you living here. read more
