This review is for unit 51F, located in the condo portion of the MiMA building. My partner and I lived here for 1.5 years and left the unit in excellent condition upon move-out. The owner initially agreed to return the security deposit in full (minus last month's electricity bill) but has not done so a month after our move-out. After our multiple requests for the deposit, the owner started to verbally harass my partner with misogynistic comments and outright refused to return the deposit. We are preparing to take legal actions. I would not recommend renting unit 51F. The building by itself is decent, e.g., friendly and helpful staff, close proximity to major subway lines. However, there are loud street noises from fire trucks, ambulances, policy vehicles in the morning and sometimes during the night. read more

On July 21, 2021, a friend came down to see apartments at MiMA from Providence, RI to NYC (at least 4-5 hours long journey) on my behalf. We talked to an agent before coming. The agent had initially contacted us after we submitted an inquiry post on MiMA website. The agent's name was either Tony Kong or Tommy Kang (don't recall and internet searches are confusing my memory) but I have his number which was 646-724-6850. When my friend reached the apartment building, the doorman denied any knowledge of an apartment showing and was super rude & unhelpful even though my friend tried showing him the proof of contact with this agent. My friend honestly felt profiled and humiliated. We tried contacting Tony/Tommy right away but he never picked up our calls or replied after. I would advise people to not trust the building agents/staff especially if they are going out of their way to visit this building. This whole experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I have always ignored any MiMA rental posting whenever I looked for a new apartment. read more

I recently moved to MiMA and so happy I did. The apartment is a perfect size for me and the views are amazing. The entire staff is very friendly and responsive. The amenities are great and the area offers more for me to do than where I was originally living was able to offer me. I feel safe here and well taken care of. read more

Condos are pricey but worth every penny. The units - Solid with great soundproofing (my #1 priority). Windows are double pained and units have central AC which helps negate some of the endless bustle of construction in the area. The service - The doormen and building management are top notch. Common areas are spotless, doormen are polite and go the extra mile (like calling the elevator to your floor when you enter the lobby) and management is responsive. The building in general operates like a high-end hotel. Good service at a NYC apartment complex typically ends as soon as you sign the lease. We lived here for 9 months. There are decent amenities, but it's extremely, EXTREMELY overpriced for a pretty lame location. West of Time Square on 42nd St? Meh. Even when the market was soft and they had a ton of empty units MiMA refused to lower to market rates. They'd rather lose money every month letting the units sit open. Not sure how that makes good business sense, but whatever. Overall we're happy we moved out. The views were nice but you can get good views anywhere in NYC. read more

I thought moving to NYC with a family was going to be pure hell honestly but the staff here made it such a wonderful experience. We lived here for around 2 years before buying property in Lloyd Harbor and really hated to leave. The view is spectacular and the amenities are great! However, you do get what you pay for. I believe this is one of the better luxury highrises in the area just due to aesthetics. It's not a far walk to the subway, noise level is deviated if you live on a high floor, and the views... omg amazing. There are cheaper and more expensive apartments within a .5 mile radius but MiMA feels the most comfortable. It has in unit washer/dryer, updated kitchens, bathrooms, and the space is adequate. Concierge is stiff at times but they try to make it feel homey. I only deducted one star due to management and leasing office not being too professional. Half the time I was there they were always gossiping about residents. Not a good look. Not the easiest to work with and they can be irate if you ask too many questions. The workers there aren't looking out for the resident's best interest either. Overall the building is to die for, from the lobby to amenities, to the views. It does boast class and luxury without the ultra high price tag. It's about average for the area and you can try to negotiate prices that are comparable. Try it out for a year to see if it's for you. It was worth it for me and I'd definitely live here again. Location wise, you could find something more central but it's not that bad of a walk to anywhere in HK. Maybe 5-15 mins to your fav bar/restaurants.. i miss this area a lot! read more

Absolutely terrible place. After I signed the move out inspection contract, everything was checked as "OK". However, I get a email after a month saying that I need to pay for damages that were not written on move out inspection form. They emailed me a move out inspection form, the one I signed earlier. Except, they edited it, saying that there are damages to the apartment. Bullshit scam for money. I'm making sure that they don't get any more rentals from any of my friends checking out MIMA. I lived here for a bit over a year and this place exceeded all my expectations. From the floor to ceiling window in my apartment, you could see the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State building, and Freedom tower, and the Hudson River. The staff here are the best in the business. I loved having them welcome me home by name each time and joke me whenever I went down to pick up packages. Granted, I don't know if they knew the names of all the residents in the +1,000 apartments they have in the building, but I'm very social and so I got to know them a bit. The M Club has an Equinox gym inside, which means that I would go to the exercise classes and then take the elevators upstairs to my apartment afterwards for a shower. They also have a heated indoor pool, outside movie screen, inside screening room, pool room, and game room. These rooms are a steal to rent out for a party given the space that you get. I also made use of the indoor basketball court on a few occasion. My apartment had a beautiful real kitchen (a rarity in NYC) with a full size stainless steel fridge, stove, and dishwasher (which was quiet). The washer and dryer in the unit really spoiled me. The was also tons of storage space, including a couple of walk in closets. I was also the first person to live in my unit since they had just finished construction when I moved in. The staff will even bring deliveries and groceries up to your apartment if you give them permission to do so. The complimentary concierge will help you anything you'd like, including getting us on the guest list for a club on my birthday. The only con about this place is the location. If you are walking home from the closest subway on 42nd St, you'll need to walk right by the Port Authority bus terminal. You also might need to walk through the Time Square area, where the tourists can be more annoying than the homeless people. I walked everywhere when I lived at Mima, day and night, and I could see how some folks might not like the neighborhood. But I love Hell's Kitchen and it was my chosen spot to live in the city because it's within walking distance to everything - tons of restaurants, Central Park, all the Broadway theaters, the Alvin Ailey studio, etc. Rent is indeed exorbitant but then what in Manhattan isn't. And the rent was only slightly more than the nearby Archstone was charging for a similar unit with a dismal view. And this is the only place I've ever lived at that allowed you to pay your rent with a credit card online with no additional fee. Yay for more points! If you can afford to live here, do it! read more

Places like these make me sick. I mean seriously. Nobody deserves to live this well. I am about 98.2% sure that anyone who lives here is slinging something illegal on the side to pay rent. But I digress. I came to MiMA the first time to attend a Memorial Day bbq my best friend's roommate's best friend was having. It was on the M level in a room that lead to a spacious terrace. The view was amazing, looking at the other NYC skyscrapers. The weather was perfect, the hot dogs were juicy. It was an awesome day. This past Friday my best friend's roommate's celebrated her birthday here. Again on the M level. The rooms are spacious and can fit a ton of people. I'd say 30 people very comfortably. Big screen TV, surround sound and kitchen. We migrated up to the 9th floor where my best friend's roommate's best friend lived. It was a 1 bedroom apartment. Not too small either. Adequate living room, fancy kitchen, nice bathroom. I suspect the bedroom not to be a disappointment either. This building is amazing. The doorman has a sense of humor, the elevators - although incredibly small- move up and down seamlessly with almost any noise at all. There is a basketball court, swimming pool, a gym - you name it. It's the definition of living the "high life." It's awesome to have friends who have friends who live at MiMA. #spoiledhoes read more

We've been renting here now for a couple of months, and this place is awesome. We are new to NYC (and the US) so our first experience is important. The level of service you get is outstanding, and if there's an issue within the apartment it's fixed immediately, and without fuss. The facilities are excellent and MiMA offers an outstanding lifestyle. And, if you have dogs, the doggy day care/walking services by Dog City are also outstanding. It's proximity to transport, restaurants, theatre etc makes it easy living as well. Highly recommended... read more

The amenities endless, the views spectacular and the place looks like a hotel. It is the price tag that is hard to swallow. My good pals from high school live here and we were fortunate enough to stay with them for our trip to New York. First off, as long as a place has a nice indoor basketball court, I'm sold. If I lived here, i would live there. Aside from that, the views and the amenities are amazing. The front desk workers and the doorman were extremely friendly and knew us by name after the first encounter and therefore never had any problems as guests. I'd like to see it in the summertime where they have the projection screen outside and places to sit/lounge. read more

we moved into the One MiMA Tower for the view and Dog City. Dog City makes the old saying 'Lucky as a Dog' true. People do come in and ask if they can take pictures of the view. it is awsome. The building is friendly. The doormen and Women are all fabulous and fun. Yes, there is lots to do here also. The Equinox guy and pool, basketball court, movie room etc. make it sort of a vacation after the crazy work days of New York. In answer to the statemnt above about illegal money, we have a major credit check here. As far as I know, we all make our money the old fashioneed American way. Get 'er done. AFTER MANY MONTHS OF MIMA TOWER I FELT I NEEDED TO HONESTLY UPDATE: 5/29/2013 t the brakers FUSES in the electric box blow causing appliances To blow out like mine did EX: Sub Zero Refrigerate, several times over a series of several months, causing all my food to go bad. That took several MONTHS to get management to replace it. Meanwhile I never knew whether food was really safe, sometimes it would cut off for a few hours and then start up again. The only clue I would have is my ice and such would be re-frozen but it was obvious it had melted and refroze. My 67in TV stills over heats and turns off after about 20 minutes. That's just one issue. There are more....about 11 more, and my unit was brand new. Several top only electric plug holes remained burned out. There were many more problems in my brand new expensive apt. They took months and months to repair. I'll list the well documented other issues later. The building is beautiful, the staff and management company are wonderful, but the noise from 42nd street is highly problematic, with sirens and horns blaring throughout the night. Also, the surrounding area is not great. Drunks, drug addicts, homeless sleeping on the streets. Not very safe. read more

Going to miss this place!! After two years, All I can say it's Move in here!! The best building and staff ever. The amenities are awesome, the building its modern, clean, open, and of course once again the staff! Everyone seems to enjoy their work and really take their time with residents. They know most people by name, and are always willing to help. I have been here since 2011 and not even once I've had to complain. Just good things to say. Related, you did a good job here! The amenities I used the most and personally think they were great for the residents are: The grills on the front side of the building (5 of them) and the two other at the back where the outdoor theater its located. The game room with the pool table and poker tables were awesome for those nights that you just wanted to chill with friends. The indoor movie theater its awesome too, chill inside with some wings, pizza, popcorn watching a game or movie! The "lobby area" at the M club with the fire place its a good place to socialize. The gym (equinox) has most of the basic equipments and its always pretty well maintained. The steam rooms and sauna are also a big plus after work outs. The pool its a little on the small size, but what can you expect in the city. Location wise: You are literally "in the Middle of Manhattan" (MiMA). If I ever move back to Manhattan, you will see me in one of these amazing properties from Related! read more

One of the nicest luxury rental buildings in Midtown. If you have the money come here! Although very expensive it's worth the money. Top to bottom is all glass so you have magnificent views of midtown Manhattan, you can even see the Empire State Building depending on what side of the building your in. Located right in the middle of Times Square and the security is amazing and well staffed. Nobody is coming up uninvited. Also inside is a Equinox gym so get your fitness on!! read more

I love MiMA - first, the doormen and staff are amazing - people went out of their way to help us. For example, I wanted to show a home video (through my video camera) to some friends in the MClub screening room. One of the staff took an hour trying to help me figure out how to set it up, which was totally not his job. The amenities are amazing - love the gym, basketball court, indoor/outdoor screening rooms (free popcorn)- all amazing. (Shout out to Sylvia, who will totally take care of you!) Third, our apartment was great. Washer/dryer, amazing views, great closet space - awesome. The only drawbacks were that the place seemed to get more dust-bunnies than usual and the shower would get clogged about once a month. But mention it to the doorman once, and it's totally taken care of. The building is crazy expensive, but worth the experience! read more

As the last person posted, this building is definitely not as great as it seems. Leasing will say anything to get you into the building (word to the wise, get any and all promises in writing!), the building is marketed as pet friendly, but make sure your cat or dog does not make a sound, otherwise you will be served with a Notice to Cure and charged for the privilege. There are many many many more issues with this building which I could cite, but the biggest issue is that for 651 apartments, there are not enough elevators and at times, particularly first thing in the morning, you can wait up to ten minutes on the higher floors. As a side note, the building is full of "international" tenants, (read Korean/Chinese/Japanese) who love nothing more than going between each others apartments on each of the floors, so at times, you would be mistaken for thinking this is China Town, not Hells Kitchen. Second side note, do not consider making the MC Club business lounge your home. Excessive use seems to be frowned upon, despite being advised by leasing that it can be used as much as you like. read more

Can't agree with the other two reviews. The building is as great as your expectation is. What do you expect as your fellow tenants when you come to a brand new, luxury and fancy place? Of course, there are a lot of international tenants, just as same as when you walk out of your door, on the subway or any other place in Manhattan. With regards to their behaviour, you might be right for some of the tenants. However, this is only a very low percentage of the total of a few hundreds living here who just can't behave and show respect to others. I love this place because it has all you need, the appartments are amazing and the staff is extremly helpful and friendly. Of course, this also depends on how you treat them. I couldn't love this place more, it is just fantastic. Nevertheless, I agree there are here and there some issues, but hey, you'd have that everywhere, in any other building, except if you live somewhere out in the woods on your own... but that's not what people are looking for when they move to MiMa. read more

If you're looking for a building that is all gloss and no substance, then welcome to MiMA. Be careful not to have any complaints as it's unlikely they will be taken seriously. Once you step outside of the marketing hype and actually look at what a gym membership costs, the amenities and exorbitant rent just don't add up. Now that the building is practically full, don't be surprised to wait up to 15 minutes for elevators on the higher floors and if one goes out of service (which has happened a lot recently), don't be surprised to wait even longer! The free Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks coffee is just a gimmick. With it costing the building north of $7k per month to provide this, it's unlikely this is gonna last. Regularly the machines are either out of stock or not working and don't get me started on the milk. If I was pushed to provide a positive about this building, it would be that the door staff are the best of any building bar none. They are real, humorous, understanding and very very courteous. Something their management office may like to take time to learn. In New York, we have plenty of options when it comes to renting, don't get swept up by the hype about this place, it's just not worth the heartache or stress. PS: the MTA construction that is happening right outside the building is sure to keep you awake! read more

Biggest disappointment and mistake buying into the marketing hype about this building. Since moving in, we have experienced nothing but problems. Issues with neighbors, issues with noise, issues with drugs, issues with services in the building. Leasing seem to allow anyone to move into the building and I get that you can't pick and choose who you lease to, but you'd expect for how much they spent on the amenities that this building would be high end, but no. It's trailer-trash chic meets studentville. Like some of the other reviews on here, the building truly is international which breeds a melting pot of issues. Fights on the basketball court, rudeness in general throughout the building and a management office that doesn't know what it's doing. The only good thing about the building is the door staff and the fact it looks amazing, although, after only one year of being open, it's wearing badly. When you move into a luxury building charging high rents, you expect a certain level of service and profile of person to live in the building. Not here, it's like a social experiment loaded with incompetent staff. Sure, there will be positive reviews, but we are not the only couple who have regretted moving into this building. The only good thing about this whole situation is that our lease is up very soon so we can move away from here! read more

It seems that negative reviews about this building get filtered and that's not cool. As someone who lived at this building, it was the worst experience in my 16 years of leasing and owning property. The building is finished to a high standard in the communal areas, however, once inside the apartment, the only three decent finishes are the floor, bathroom and kitchen. If you're lucky enough to live on a higher floor, you also get the views. The door staff are flawless, professional and ALWAYS happy to help wherever they can. When it comes to the management office, you would be better off talking to yourself, you certainly would get more sense. The office is staffed with four people and with the exception of one of the team, nothing ever gets done by the others. They constantly send legal notices and charge you for it, fail to collect rent, multiple months at a time and then blame you for it. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, the rules within the building are insane. For the amount of rent you will pay, there certainly are better buildings where your business will be appreciated. Some of the horror stories that have come out include a flooded elevator bank after a resident broke the sprinkler pipe and it took out the elevator bank. Not great in a 60+ story tower. Recently a snake was on the loose in the condominium part of the development. I'm pretty certain a brothel is being run from one of the apartments as one lady is forever in the elevator with different men, multiple times a day. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the hype of the building. Don't! There are plenty other buildings in Manhattan. Do your research and ask the important questions before ever signing a lease here! read more

Having lived in One Mima tower for over 2 years and literally in that 2 year timeline I had lived in over 5 of their units all in the tower I have got to say this will always be the best building I have ever lived in during my time in manhattan. Don't ask why I switched units so many times I just did wether it was for more space or more bedrooms or a better view but all my units were always fabulous! The staff at One Mima Tower were the best I have ever seen, so friendly and loved to make jokes back and fourth will truly miss all of them! The building is now being converted to condos and after paying over 8200 a month for a 1 bedroom I felt it was time for me to buy a house in New Jersey and save my money. The worst thing about this building is honestly the location. 42nd street is horrible and load and full of homeless and i've had many times where i was walking to the building and i felt scared for my life. The thing this building has going for it are the amenities and the view and amazing staff, at the end of the day if location is the most important thing to you better look else where but for high end finishes this is the place for you! Now my review is only for One Mima Tower, the units in the regular tower I think are very very over priced, finishes look older now and kitchens need updating. Getting out of your lease is extremely hard btw they make it near impossible as they will need to find someone to rent your apartment at the same price or more than what you are currently paying, you soon realize that you are the only idiot willing to pay $8200 a month for a 1 bedroom....better hope for an asian to come in and re rent your unit the building i feel was about 85% asian which isn't a bad thing they are just extremely rude and unfriendly and feel like they are better than you, just my opinion. Overall great building don't park within the building its really really expensive $675+ for a normal car and garage staff is by far the meanest I've ever met, don't do your dry-cleaning thru the bldg they ruin your clothes and lose items and charge you 10x the cost of normal cleaners just because they can. I love this place. Amenity is great, spacious for a studio unit in Manhattan, staff is friendly, a washer/dryer, etc. One thing that I cannot help but notice is that literally half the tenants are Korean. Why?!! I have nothing against them, and if anything it's good to have them as neighbors because they are clean and quiet compared to others who let their kids run around unattended or use the hallway as their own space. We have lived in the MiMa half the week usually for the last two or more years. We also have a home in Nassau County, Long Island where we spend half the time. We decided we wanted to see how we like living in NYC. We have resided in a total of four apartments in the Ultra luxury side of the complex. We kept moving to larger apartments and of course more expensive apartments because we were looking for the ultimate in the building. We now reside in the largest apartment in the building and it is beautiful. We are moving out of the building to the Upper West Side so I thought it was time to write a review. We absolutely loved every aprtment we resided in here. There isn't a bad view in the entire building. We chose the 460 address side of the building because we wanted better finishings and we are very glad we did. I have had a few issues witrh the Management and no matter how much I may have been an annoyance LOL they have always been very professional and very amenable. Almost every employeee we like very much and we will truly miss the place. The Concierges go out of their way to make you feel wellcome. At least most of them. I do have problem with a couple of them who really should consider another career but on balance other then an issue or two with the two Concierges the other ones were terrific. I can say that I feel that I have made friends with them and not just a resident employee relationship. They are very well trained and very nice people. Unfortunately they have too many temps working here from time to time. The Handymen and the Assistant Resident Manager and his associate may be the best in the entire City. The Previous General Manger was terrific and I was upset when he left. The Resident Manager although we have had one difference has been terrific. Anytime there was a problem with the apartments they were right there to fix the issue and we did not have to wait more then usually a few hours. Read that again a few hours, not a few days. The employees in the Leasing Office and Management Office have never let us down. They are professional and have gone out of their way for us. The amenities are the best in the entire City with a full court basketball court, and Equinox gym, indoor and outdoor movie theaters, sauna, Steam, grill areas, recreation and party areas, a business center with at no cost coffee all day long, a beautiful swimming pool and much more. So again we are going to miss this place and almost everyone here including some of the residents that we have become friendly with. Not all of them but many of them. Now for a few things that I think they need to work on: We have dogs and MiMa is very pet friendly. However they have not been able to get a handle on some of the residents allowing their dogs to urinate and defecate on or very near the egresses and walls and columns of the complex. I undestand that they may be concerned about losing tenants but unfortunately for people who covet their apartments like we do we walk through it at times and bring it in to the building. It also smells pretty bad especially during the warmer weather. They do powerwash but five minutes later the same culprits do the same thing with their dogs and don't seem to have any respect for their own living environment. The other issue is the neighborhood. We know that Hells Kitchen is much better now then years ago but it is still sort of heinous and quite filthy. There a lot of tourists and a lot of noise around here especially with all the trucks and cars exiting the Lincoln Tunnel. The back of the building many times is quite a mess and the Covenant House is at the back of the building across the street and many of their reisdents attempt to cause mayhem when they can. They hang out around the back of the buiding at times smoking pot and worse. When we walk our dogs back there it's not good. So we have decided to move and it has been a difficult decision. The two main reasons is the exterior environment and the dog excrment and this review will not come as a surprise to mangement and I am sure they will know who is writing it. On balance again we will miss the MiMa and maybe one day we will be back. One never knows unless they don't like this review. read more

Mima is so lovely place ! But today I had strange situation at the Gym Equinox at Mima. The women who works at the gym (at the entrance) came to me to say that I am not allowed to wear crop top at the gym. I was so surprised. I don't understand why someone tell me what to wear at the gym. And if all sport shops sell this kind of sport wear I think there is reason. I love sportswear and it is even motivating me to go to the Gym. And then she said that I am not allowed to take the pictures at the gym. It is crazy. I am a model I love to Be healthy and in good shape. I like to post the pictures of healthy lifestyle, traveling, beautiful places. I have a lot of followers and traveling a lot. And this never happened to me before. Normally Gym is asking me to post the picture of myself and tag the Name of the Gym. And always happy to see a model wearing nice sport wear. I don't understand why I can't take the pictures( of cause I understand that I should not take the pictures of other people) I feel uncomfortable to go to this Gym. Feel that someone always look after me to say that I am doing something wrong. Not very nice when you start your day with a workout and someone is stressing you. I paid for the Gym to be able to do exercice as I want and relax after the work. Not to be stressed. read more

Don't live here if you're under the age of 35. Worst management in NYC. If you play your music too loud they will send you a court order and evict you from your apartment. oh yeah, and you will have to keep paying rent until someone else rents out your unit so they never actively try to rent it out. Also be careful about tracking snow or any sort of liquid from your unit because they will follow the trail and evict you for that as well. One last thing, in July i was in their elevator(the middle one) and it dropped 10 stories and everyone in the elevator was injured. It got stuck between two floors and once management told us we would be stuck in there for hours, we were able to pry the door open and had to jump while risking our lives. BEWARE. read more

The building and gym look nice but location stinks though with all the traffic and dog pi smells. The person in the office is really arrogant and has not time for you unless you are spending over $10K a month which for that location she can have it. I have seen other buildings that are more accommodating with better apartments and rents. I do not recommend this building. read more

I lived in the One MiMA Tower (Now called Manhattan View) for two and a half years and had an amazing experience during my residence. The amenities are wonderful, the view is excellent and the Equinox gym in the building is extremely convenient and offers practical classes. All of the staff members are friendly and have the tenants' best interests. I think the General Manager, Antje, leads a great management team, which made the building such a pleasure to live in. The building tried very hard to provide many perks to their residents in the building. The event planner Jennifer put in a great effort to arrange such activities as wine tasting, terrarium building, golf instructions, appreciation day for members, etc. This all made you have a better chance to know your neighbors, and made the building feel like a true home.
