This building has everything I was looking for when searching for an apartment in NYC and more. A gym with individual and group classes, a pool, basketball and tennis courts, a spacious lounge, great views of the harbor and neighboring skyscrapers, BBQ areas, a shuttle that runs across the city every half hour and the list goes on. The tenant community is respectable and well-to-do. There was a variety of apartments on offer with different views and levels of renovation to suit different budgets. The location is right on the waterfront, lively during the day and calm at night, despite being just a 15-minute walk from Times Square. The staff from reception to the doormen are exceptionally professional and Brian Love is one of the most competent leasing agents I've ever dealt with. read more

I lived at River Place for 10 years and my experience was very good. The building looks good and is well managed, the view of the apartment was beautiful, the neighborhood is great, the staff is helpful and for the most part friendly. My only complain was the shuttle (it really gets overly crowded now so you can't always rely on it), it was much better before covid. I'd say it's definitely a great place to live. read more

I am not much into online reviews but I was inspired to do so due to the super leasing agent mr. Brian Love. When I was looking at this place online and I arrived at the site to see River Place and Silver Towers I thought this is too stuffy for me. I was probably thinking I'm about to ditch out of here when the leasing agent Mister Love came out and started my tour. He was very patient very detailed and took the time to explain everything this property has to offer and by the time we were done I was not only very excited but also felt very at home. Not to mention the fact that they are offering some great deals so if you are in the market for an apartment in Midtown don't waste any time on all those other fancy high-rises that I went and saw that are so stuffy and stuck up, come to River Place ask for Brian love and I'm sure you will be satisfied. And here's an update on the rapidly degenerating experience of living at River Place: 6/22/23: Building management sent an email to all tenants, essentially washing their hands of accountability for building safety. The email states numerous intruder burglaries have taken place at River Place and other Silverstein properties. The building response isn't to reverse the noticeably reduced existing doorman and front desk staff. Its to tell tenants that they should take on the role of interior door police officer: We are now asked to prevent 'piggybacking' to the building interior. The same email states we need to fully lock our doors (presumably, throw the deadbolt) at all times. Essentially, the building management is saying: we're not able to keep you safe, its your responsibility, as voluntold unpaid staff. Left unsaid it what might happen when a tenant confronts an intruder attempting to 'piggyback' their way into the building. So, before moving here, consider this update, and my initial review below, and then ask yourself - do I really want to pay top dollar rents to live in lockdown 24/7, because even with a front desk staff, and security patrols, building management won't control access to the building properly? read more

Lived at River Place in a couple of apartments for a number of years between 2005 and 2015, had a mixture of few good and quite a few frustrations at 650 West/River Place: Apartments: strangely laid out, with cheap furnishings that are well used. In fact if you do move in here, document every scratch or blemish - they attempted to charge me for a scratch that was there when I moved in but was told to prove it wasn't there before hand. Not sure you can carbon date a scratched appliance... so I had no option. The garage attached to the building is useful but expensive. The gym/tennis courts etc, are average and poorly maintained and expensive. The pool is indoors which is a bonus, but its relatively small. Management are merciless and know they have the luxury of an endless stream of potential tenants waiting for a space in the building. NOISE! One 'feature' you may not have noticed on your walkthrough, is the Chinese Embassy on the other side of 42nd street facing River Place. Be warned, there will be frequent protests, and angry, hostile groups that will chant angry slogans, for 8 hours a day. Have a baby that cries a lot, there's no other way of drowning out the anger. River Place and surrounding neighborhood are unable to do anything about it. There is a roofdeck with no amenities/benches/seats etc., that can be used for sightseeing/sunbathing. Wonderful for sunset photographs, views of the Intrepid, tunnel, water, etc. I photographed the Plane crash on the Hudson and the Intrepid's journey along the Hudson waterway from this vantage point. Transportation can be convenient once you've worked out that the 42nd bus stops outside the building. The NY Waterway buses (from the ferry terminal on 39th street) offer a free bus to and from the terminal along 42nd street, and some routes downtown. River Place has a shuttle bus but its reliability isn't guaranteed, no the quality/qualifications of the drivers.... There are few grocery stores nearby, and convenience stores are incredibly expensive to the point of being rude. All in all - its a good temporary stop if you are finding your feet before seeking somewhere less expensive, with better amenities, more space and less anger. read more

I have loved living here because of the amenities (and the plain is so convenient) but management is greedy, stubborn, and unwilling to bend for even reasonable accommodations - not to mention they've engaged in multiple unlawful actions to screw over and illegally evict tenants. read more

We have lived at River Place for 2-something years between July 2018 and October 2020 - moved out since we have bought a place of our own. It was a very enjoyable experience. River Place is definitely one of the best buildings in the neighborhood, with great apartments and friendly, helpful staff! Some specific details and tips and tweaks below: Apartments: many are outright gorgeous, with stunning views of the Hudson. Also, mostly bigger than what you can find in the nearby buildings, for an equivalent price. The biggest are, as far as I can tell, the **12 stack (southwest corner) where we had a chance to reside. Some of the others are in a bit of an odd triangular shape though. During the pandemic a number of apartments were renovated, you should be able to tell by the beautiful grey wood floor. The standard window blinds are somewhat thin and the sun does get in through. We used a projector to watch movies at home, so asked the building about replacement possibilities - ended up a bit pricey so we have dropped the idea. But I have heard rumors about someone in the building negotiating a free replacement of blinds due to her inability to sleep at daytime (cannot deny or confirm, though). Location: getting to and from the subway can be complicated. The shuttle helps in the morning, but I have also quickly adopted the citibike (two spots nearby) for my daily commute. China consulate to the north, so may get noisy on a daily basis indeed, same is true about the construction work from Javits Center (although neither has bothered me personally). To the south there is a bus depot which switches on a bright white light every night shining right into our windows - may affect the south facing apartments, definitely affected ours, please be aware. Amenities: the gym and the indoor pool are great. The tennis court for 10 bucks an hour is a miracle by NYC standards - although it gets a bit windy there. The lounge area used to be on odd terms with the gym - since the way to the lounge goes through the gym, essentially only gym members used to be able to use the lounge. The gym management company has changed post pandemic, so not sure if that still holds true. Staff and management: Maja was extremely helpful at the contract signing stage, building staff is very helpful and nice (there were many, but Christopher particularly comes to mind). Big thanks to the management for keeping them employed through the pandemic - for some other buildings in the neighborhood that was indeed not the case. The pain of dealing with a corporation rather than a human landlord is real (e.g. it took me a month and a bunch of phone calls/emails to get my security deposit back) but that holds true for any company managed building, nothing out of ordinary. Lease break: strongly suggest avoiding it. If you think you have a probability of moving (due to work relocation etc) mid-lease, I recommend thinking twice before signing the contract. You will not be able to advertise your sublet/lease takeover on zillow or streeteasy, as the building will take your ads down, so you will be left with the odd craigslist/facebook audience. This is what has happened to us - we have signed the lease extension (effective July) in March 2020 right before the pandemic, and in the late summer decided it's time to move out and buy a place of our own while the market and rates were good. River Place has suggested a different option, ("lease abandonment" if I remember correctly) which essentially meant we move out but keep paying rent, while River Place keeps trying renting our apartment out. While this sounds like a terrible deal at first (why would they be interested in renting it out it a lower market rate if they can collect our high pre-covid rent instead - a potential conflict of interest) it was handled extremely well by the sales team, and worked out well for us. We have moved out in October, and our apartment has been rented mid-January, which we consider quite a good outcome due to both pandemic and seasonality. Appreciate such honesty and professionalism from the sales team! read more

I lived here from 2006-2010 - yes, I stayed, even given the coming review. The location for me was great. I love living on the water, and my other places in NYC were also all on the water. So the walk to the subway I knew and accepted. However, if you offer a shuttle, then make sure it arrives, make sure its a safe vehicle, and make sure it can fit all who want it without exceeding the bus capacity limits; none of those things were done well for the entire time I lived there. The buses were dirty, often late and sometimes did not show at all. The building managemet were basically tasked with "getting rid of you" after you signed the lease. Seems they still are based on recent reviews. The gym was fine, although not upodated much, which is too bad. But if you live in the building it should be free. We already pay top dollar to live there, make the gym free. While I liked the changing rooms there, I did hear a lot of complains from people about them, too small, steam rooms and saunas not always working etc. The door staff/concierge was nice the first year, but then I guess my tip was not big enough and they were just cursory after that. Except the night guys (like the 3-6 am ones, they were always super nice, and I saw them often (both the regular and the sub). My issues here were all about the management office, who lied on occasion and always just said anything to get you out of the office. Also, if you were unlucky enough to be over the bus station you were stuck hearing the buses run all night. They should tell you that when you move in. I moved within the building as quickly as I could after that first winter of the busses running all night. Terrible noise and terrible pollution. You could see the dust in the apartment from the bus exhaust. Parking is overpriced and not always well organized. You should get a serious discount if you live in the building. But the guys who work there are super nice. If I were to consider living there again I would want to meet the building staff first (the apartment house manager when I was there was a real jerk), have a clear understanding of what the management offices job actually was, and get free gym use. I'd also only consider it if my apartment did not face West (even though the views are awesome from there), and parking came with a discount for residents. And they should take credit cards for rent. read more

This is the worst place to live In New York City. This building is for old grumpy people. If you are one of these then come here at your own risk, neighbors are toxic and will call the police even if you're talking to your family members on phone, this building is not for young people and The leasing manager, Lisa Kich was suspended because of her wrongdoings and by the way she still in the management team and harassing the tenants if they try to make a complaint. The Rent is up $800 each year.The leasing agents will entice you by showing the rooftop the sunset view( not accessible many times) and the gym for which have to pay extra and would have the most terrible service, even if you're paying a lot already .There are no restaurants or nearby supermarkets. This building is kind of isolated from the main New York City hub. It get really disgusting with the dogs peeing and pooping everywhere, even outside your apartment door. The dogs barking is continues and obnoxious and the building management does nothing about it.There are some serious security issues in the building and strangers can come in the building and harass the tenants whenever they want .There's a reason why people are moving out of this building very quickly. Most people just move out and do not even leave the review because they are so done with this place and mostly the management team members put fake 5 star reviews to increase their rating on Google .I'm just waiting for my lease to end and to move out. It's been just a year and I can't wait to get out of this place. Save yourself some trouble, and find a better place to live. read more

What an amazing building this is. The apartments are airy and spacious, the grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained, the concierge staff is welcoming and unfailingly helpful, and the maintenance crew is skilled, amicable and efficient. Also, I have to give a special shout-out of thanks to Maja in the rental office, who made what can be an onerous application and leasing process into one that was hassle-free. The amenities here are unparalleled (an indoor basketball court in a New York City apartment building -- really?), although I haven't made much use of them because of Covid. But I have had a lot of contact with the staff, and In the two months I've been here, every interaction has been positive. Five well-earned stars. read more

We've lived here 9 happy years & just upgraded to a nice 2 bedroom. Maja Stojkovic in rental office was wonderful. She helped us explore our options & made the process easy & enjoyable. One River Place is the best building with the best skillful, friendly staff & throughout COVID have worked tirelessly to keep us safe & Healthy, while maintaining the same welcoming, efficient environment that makes it a home. The location is sublime, with beautiful landscaping & close proximity to the Hudson River & bike trail. The amenities like indoor basketball & pool are great. What we want is right here & they work very hard to maintain the same high standards they've always had, so It's a peaceful respite from the chaos of the world. After 20 years at River Place, it might be time to move on. When i first moved in, I LOVED living here but things have gotten progressively worse. First, the gym. There use to be a management company running the gym and they were great. Many, many group classes. Now we don't even get 1 class a day. The building took over running the gym and took away our right to bring a guest and send out threatening emails that our membership will be revoked if we get caught bringing in a guest. We have BBQ's, a ping pong table, a pool table, tennis courts and a basketball court....all useless if you are single and not allowed guests. Tenants view this space as an extension of our home and the no guest policy is absurd. Second, the shuttle service. They have been cutting and cutting this service to the point that if you don't go down to the shuttle 20 minutes before it's scheduled to leave, you won't fit on the bus. Their response, this was free service that could be removed at any time and "take the 7 train". Third, increase in rent. From speaking with other tenants, they are raising rents 20% - 50% (all while taking away amenities). Pay more, get less. I would think long and hard before signing a lease here, things are not moving in a positive direction. read more

NYC RENTERS BEWARE!!!! This place will HARD SALE PRESSURE you into signing a 35+ page lease where there is NO out clause even if you need to move for work. Then they will make it EXCEPTIONALLY difficult to find a suitable replacement for your lease since they won't let you advertise on any site where normal apartments are listed. I have EMAILS saying that for the past several months, they have been actively showing and advertising my studio to find a replacement for my lease. For for months I have been paying rent for a place they pressured me to give back to them so they would "actively list, advertise and show it"...yet when people call in asking about availabilities, they don't send them the floor plan or move in dates that match my studio. This company is SUPER shady and NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT! You already have over $10,000 of rent for me not living there. LET ME OUT OF THE LEASE AND STOP BEING SHADY!!!!! read more

The gym at River Place is nice to look at but they make it absolutely impossible to train there, and have requirements that are so burdensome that they effectively are there so you are forced to use their personnel. They're overpriced as well for what they offer and the attitude at gym management is not flexible and difficult. read more

Just moved here 10 days ago and I can't say enough good things about this place. First of all, Brian Love made our whole leasing experience a real breeze and we can't thank him enough for that. He is very friendly, professional, super nice, helpful and was always available (both on phone and email) to answer any questions we had. He made sure we had all our documents ready and complete so that we could get the approvals, sign our lease and get all the paperwork out of the way in just 48 hours time. Due to unforeseen circumstance we had to move a day earlier than the date agreed upon on the lease and Brian spoke with the building management and made sure we had no issues getting the apartment a day early. The experience itself was really stress free and exceptional! As for the building, They've great amenities to begin with at a very low monthly / yearly rate - Doorman, lobby, multiple elevators in both the towers, gym, pool, basketball court, a deck, lounge, laundry room on every floor etc. The property is beautifully maintained and the front desk staff is just great! The apartments are clean and spacious with huge windows that makes sure plenty of natural light comes in and they provide great views of the city/ the Hudson. I was initially a little worried about the distance to the nearest subway( a good 10-15 min walk) as I commute to downtown every day for work. But so far it's not been an issue thanks to the free shuttle buses the building offers. It runs every 20 mins during the rush hours and stops on every major avenue on the 42nd Street. The M42 crosstown bus stops right in front of the building and is also a great way to commute. I've also taken the free ferry buses that run on 42nd Street. So far the commute has not been an issue. There is a Sunac market right down the street that is really convenient. Couple of cafes and restaurants in a 2 minute walking distance and all that HK has to offer is just another few minutes away! Great building with great conceriege and doorman associated with it. All the front desk personnel are trained to recogize and remember guest visitors. Im able to go in there now with them knowing who iam there to see and why. Statf is very informative and very quick on action. Had a asthma attack and ambuelence treated me at the scene within 3 mins. Fantastic!!! Only problem with this building is if you become a regular and they recognize you, you can simply just walk in here which defeats the purpose of having a doorman building. I moved to River Place from Dallas, Texas in mid December 2013. The management, the concierge, and the leasing office are extremely friendly. The shuttle here, which is much faster than M42, is also a major plus. I ride the shuttle to and from work at the Bank of America tower. We are a little ways away from the subways, but you can hop on the shuttles or M42/M12/M50/M11, during off hours, and get to where you need to go. This may not be kosher, but hopping onto the NY Waterway shuttles is also an option. The 7 line extension is opening up this summer by the Javits Center this summer. The view of the Hudson is great. I believe the rents are reasonable for a doorman apartment in Manhattan south of Central Park. If you have friends visiting from Jersey, we're right at the mouth of the Lincoln tunnel. The gym is a great place to work out and when it's not snowing or raining, the observation decks are pretty cool too. You can get wireless internet that will work in the entire building. I would definitely recommend living here. read more

Pros - Fantastic management - Great doormen - Amenities (AWESOME) - Views - Apartment (We got an apartment that had been renovated and upgraded - hardwood flooring, top of the line finishes and stainless steel kitchen appliances) - The amount of outdoor spaces, cleaners on the ground floor, a bowling alley, and steps from the Hudson Cons - The pool was a little cold today ;) I know I sound spoiled, but in a city where space is a premium, my wife and I are in love with the building, its people and the surrounding areas. Then I went there abd got told there was no appointment. They just said that's the time they can show but did not make any appointment with. I asked if you have five mins to show the apt. GM, I love my building One River Place. I have a huge amount of space, I can't imagine living in any other luxury building right now. One River Place, have these OUTSTANDING EVENTS, if the tenants in the building have no plans or just want to keep it local. These events are the best place to be. JONER Hall, is a great event planner, coordinator, host, etc... He is just a very well-rounded people person. I can't imagine what it takes for him to put these amazing events together on a monthly basis. He works very hard. All the tenants have a amazing time. He brings great joy, and great fun and much laughter to all of these events. These events will keep you wanting more, such as BINGO NIGHT! OUTDOOR BARBERCUE, YOGA & WINE NIGHT, AND COCKTAILS ON THE HUDSON, and this is just a few of the amazing events JONER organized. He made this delicious cocktail drink call the EQUALIZER. I believe this special cocktail drink should be on the market for sale. In my opinion, the tenants LOVE IT! I moved into this building in September last year. At first I thought it would be great. They gave me a free gym membership for a year and one month free. As months passed by, however, problems started to emerge. As soon as the winter started, my heaters started to make a horrible "whistling" and "pounding" and "crackling" sounds that kept me awake almost every night. I kept submitting maintenance requests, but they kept postponing and pretending to try to fix the issue but never did anything about it and kept closing all my tickets as if they were resolved. Management refused to move me into another unit, saying that none are available (probably a lie). The agent who was supposed to help me with the issue (Zachary) tried to cheat me and never even talked to his supervisor about my requests or maintenance issues. They have 1 person dealing with all lease issues for both Silver Towers and River Place (100s of apartments) so all they do is try to get rid of you and get you to sign the lease. Management is rude and unhelpful, they just try to get rid of you and don't care about any problems you have once they lock you into a lease. Other issues: The walls are paper thin and throughout my stay I kept hearing my neighbor upstairs getting it on, just as if he was in my own bed, and the neighbor's dog barking whenever she left him home alone (too often! animal cruelty in my opinion). Everything in the building is low quality from appliances to floor and the walls as this building is just a money churning machine. Corridors always smell bad and noise levels are extremely high on 42nd street 24/7. I am extremely disappointed and will not be staying here. In short, I would think twice before moving into this building in your place! read more

I recently moved into the building and I can not speak highly of it. I replaced a tenant and went to the office to be added to the lease. Everything seemed fine so I placed a furniture delivery. A person in the office said there would be no problem delivering furniture. More than a week later the office has not added me to the lease yet and when my bed was delivered today they decided to ask for a certificate of insurance. Granted they never mentioned such a document before. They refused to have my bed delivered even if I offered to bring it through the normal elevator. It can easily be carried. I understand going by the books, but you HAVE TO INFORM YOUR TENANTS ABOUT THE BOOKS. It's simply ridiculous. I wish I could give a negative star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This is the best apt in city - with direct access to river, on-site park & playground, on-site gym & indoor pool; Hell's Kitchen family-oriented. The owners keep it maintained & beautiful. Their employees are efficient & knowledgeable & yet friendly & makes it feel like 'home'. We have social events, bar b q & sun deck... & the river views are spectacular. I lived in River Place for 3 years, from August 2014 to August 2017. This building does some things well, but it also drops the ball on so many important aspects that I just can't in good conscious recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury building. I'll start with the good - the units themselves are nice. They are roomy, bright, and modern. Also, the front office staff is pleasant to work with and helpful with any concerns that you may have. We rarely had maintenance problems and when we did, they were fixed same day, so hats off to those guys. Unfortunately, the bad outweighed the good in my opinion. Firstly, do not be sold on any amenities in the building. They look great on walkthrough, but they are often unavailable or lacking. Starting at the top, the rooftop viewing deck is nice, but the door is always locked. In the three years I lived there, I can count on one hand how many times I had access out of at least several dozen attempts. There are no chairs or furniture allowed out there, so you can not relax. Ultimately, there are much nicer viewing decks in the city. The gym and rec room are pretty good, but the pricing scheme is ridiculous. Instead of charging an access fee per unit, it's $600-$700 per person for the year, or $15 for a guest pass. Not great, but acceptable for the gym and pool. Unacceptable for the rec room and sundeck. I was a member of the buildings gym, but my girlfriend preferred to go offsite. So fine, she can't use the gym, but they actually expected her to pay $15 to join me out by the grills or watch a football game in the rec room. I'd have friends over and instead of being able to use the beautiful space that they sell you on, we stayed up in my apartment because no group in their right mind is going to pay $60 just to sit on the deck at your own apartment. So unless you are friends with a lot of other tenants who are members of the gym, you'll likely be enjoying these amenities by yourself. They talk up these amenities because they are often included in a luxury building, River Place just leaves out the fact that it will hardly make sense for you to use them. And then parking and the shuttle. The attached parking garage was a major sell for me - unfortunately, in the 3 years I lived there, a monthly space never opened up in River Place or Silver Towers. So yeah, don't get sold on that. Also, on numerous occasions, the garage would be rented out for private events, so it isn't even readily available for guests. When my grandparents came on a very regular Saturday, there was a wedding somewhere, so they had to park all the way near Times Square and then cab it to my building. So much for convenience. And the shuttle - not great. First, if a building offers a free shuttle, you know it's in a terrible location. In the morning, you should expect it to be late and packed. Whatever shuttle you think you need...take the one before it. The closest subway is about a 15 minute walk - if you look at a building/subway proximity map - River Place is literally one of the furthest buildings from a subway in NYC, and that subway it Port Authority. If you are a woman, beware. My girlfriend was harassed on her way to the subway and home almost every single day by the druggies and homeless people who hang out in front of it. And in the winter, the walk is brutal - you will likely cab it more then you want to admit. This probably isn't managements fault, but something to consider before moving in. Also, I've never lived anywhere that had more frequent water/gas shutdowns. You can expect these service to be off at least one day each month. It is usually between 9-5, so not a big deal if you go to work, but a major inconvenience if you work from home or are a stay at home parent. They always noted the disruption was due to the providers, so not sure if management can improve this, but still something a prospective tenant should be aware of. Last, but certainly not least is management. It took us almost three months to get our security deposit back even though we confirmed that the full deposit was being returned within two weeks of moving out. I'd call management and be told that it could take 6-8 weeks to receive the check in the mail. Fine, I'll wait. 9 weeks later, I call again to find out that it had been mailed within a month of us moving out (yes, this was after being told that I should just wait). Turns out, the check was sent to the wrong address even though I had confirmed my new mailing address at the front desk and on the phone. Fine, they'll send another check. The woman in accounting read the right address back to me and said she would update the system before resending the check. Then she sent it to wrong address AGAIN! I only got it after 11 weeks because FedEx told me where they mailed it and I went and collected it in person from the other address. place is nice ..all the amenities are available.. in door pool in the winter in nyc..indoor basketball court... miss this place. the apt here in cali is overrated. the only drawback is really cold during the winter cause it is by the river. I miss the nice hudson river view. read more

Having started the process of looking for an apartment in Manhattan and specifically Hell's Kitchen my husband and I came across a lot of unprofessional brokers, so called luxury buildings(dozens of dead flies in the lobby is not luxury to me), and leasing offices that just didnt really care or want to help. This changed when we went to River Place. Brian Love in the leasing office took the time to understand our needs and what our budget and timeline was like. He showed us several apartments(more than once because we asked) and his follow up was impeccable. The whole process was made simple and pleasurable. As a New Yorker born and raised I know it's very rare to come across an individual(especially one that works for a large company) that provides good customer service. Brian and all other staff we have met so far have far exceeded our expectations and we cannot wait to move in to "the resort" on October 1st! read more

Hate to say but had a negative experience with the management. Can't stand when people lie and play games!!!

Concierge & door staff are great, but the Management could use some improvement, as it seems that there are challenges that the current staff cannot meet. The biggest one, and I'm hoping they rise to the challenge in 2014, seems to be the 4th of July Fireworks show. 3 years ago, there was insufficient security & some idiots in the building who brought couches up to the roof. Sufficient security would have remedied that situation easily, but was an afterthought. For the past 2 years, they've misconstrued the fire department's recommendation that the roof, terrace & all public access be closed so that you cannot view the fireworks if you're not on the south or west sides of the building. The fire department's recommendation (as was explained to me when I spoke with them) was that it was unsafe as it was handled in 2011 - which is true. There are so many options available - including giving residents tickets to the public areas, a lottery for any extra capacity, giving residents on the north & east sides of the building and lower floors priority for the public access areas. To shut down the entire area is draconian and shows a complete lack of sophistication & ability to think creatively to come up with solutions that are both safe and allow residents access. This is NYC - residents have friends all over the city, and you can't expect us to believe that the 100s of buildings that allow roof & public space access for the fireworks show are in fire code violation. Please come up with a better solution. read more

I'd like to start off by saying I've never written a negative review before. However people need to know the truth about River Place and Silverstein Properties. I've been a long time resident at RP since 2008 and this new management is a disgrace. I've seen several come and go but this is the worst to date. The employee's are treated poorly here and they have a revolving door they like to call a Doorman... Anyway I've never paid my rent late once and keep my place in pristine condition. I recently returned from a 3 week trip to find my apartment unsecured. NOT dead bolted like the way I left it with screws missing and the side plate hanging off. It remanded that way along with a mysterious plunger in my closet for 2 months after informing management all the way up to Lisa Silverstein herself. I explained about the unsecured condition I found my place in and the unprofessional behavior from the staff after informing them of my situation, in particular Ian, Matt, and Kevin. She politely wished me well in my endeavors and said she was sorry for my inconvenience. Are you F'n kidding me??? Hello!!! LAW SUIT !!! These people know NOTHING about customer service starting at the top with HER!!! All they know is 1 word GREED !!!! These people care about profits and nothing else. Each year they will try to jackup your rent as much as possible. Would YOU pay a rent increase if you came home to a Unsecured Apartment that had been tampered with and smelt like sue-age oh and not to mention being treated like a second class citizen by the people that YOU pay their salaries... I'm sorry but does it say STUPID on my forehead in the First Class lounge at HNL...? So do yourself a favor and save the money on a NON doorman building cause It doesn't exists here and forget security its a joke!!! The leasing agents like Ian Dennis and Mathew Montana will tag team you and use unethical intimidation tactics to try and extort more money from residents unwarranted in my situation or anyones for that matter. Within one hour of my complaint to Ian I received a call and email from Matt saying they had someone for my place and needed to show it...lol Have you ever heard of this in all my years in NYC and I was born here. So I never responded. They were restlessly hounded me to show my newly redecorated place...Im sure it looks great!!! So I let them have it after checking on their website to see if my apartment line was available for rent... I found NONE so where could these people have miraculously come from...? I think NOT!!! This is a form of extortion and an unethical sales tactic that Ms. Silverstein seems not to have an issue with. And is this where you want to live...? Not me! Lease ends Sept.1st. not soon enough! Please someone tell me in customer service or not how can you NOT offer a solution to a good customer that could potentially take legal action against you and offer NOTHING other than well wishes... Are these people on drugs...? Words are only as good as the action's behind them... So Lisa Silverstein and everyone else at River Place... Your NOT sorry!!! Cause if you were I would have been treated as a valued customer after 250K in 7 years for a Studio. So again if you are looking to Overpay for an Over Rated 80/20 building with NO real Doorman, NO real Security and NO Customer Service what so ever... Then River Place is for you!!! Otherwise pay more money or less and move to a REAL doorman building with a company that cares about it's long time residents and it's employees. Silverstein Properties has has completely gone down hill from when I moved in years ago. You can tell Mr. Silverstein Sr. is No longer at the Helm. Sad! The building is also infested with bedbugs and has been a continued problem over the years. All the best folks! They were paying $4500 per month and they increased it to $5000. So the moved to a 4 bedroom apartment with heated marble floors for less money. 2 days ago they received a certifyed letter offering the same apartment for the preferred rate of $4500 per month. LOL so I guess the plan backfired... DON'T pay more than $4500 per month for a 2 bedroom on the 24th floor if you do move in as its been vacant for 2 months and you can squeeze the Sh't out of Ian and Matt on it. Im in a studio on the 23rd floor and paying about $2400 per month. So don't pay more for that either after I move out... lol Good luck selling boys.!!! In my business we have a saying. Beyond excited to join the River Place community. I will be moving in within the next two months and so far, the team has been a complete dream. Brian Love at the leasing office is absolutely amazing! He kept me informed of any traction and offers pending on units that I was interested in, and everything aligned for my dream apartment due to his speedy communication and commitment to finding me the best place. He managed conversations with my current apartment mangement team and had everything sorted very quickly - leaving me with seamless conversations with River Place property management. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. While you might think you are getting a good deal by moving out to Hells Kitchen, this is the not the full service "luxury" building that you think you are moving into. The primary issue is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything from all sides (inside and out - no matter how high up your are). The second biggest issue is that management is horrible. They could care less about any of your concerns and take full advantage of the fact that you can do nothing about it. Also - they are updating apartments one by one as folks move out and the construction is extremely loud. This has gone on for over a year and they are not even close to done, so I imagine it will continue for years to come. You can hear the construction at all times of the day because it noise travels from above, below and all sides. Oh, and you have to pay extra for the nice gym and patio - and even if you do pay that, you can't bring friends or family to those areas without paying a hefty guest fee. read more

We don't move in until January 5th but i wanted to leave a review for the whole leasing experience. Brian Love in the leasing department was so helpful, attentive and responsive. He made the whole process easy and stress free-as stress free as moving can be! We looked at a few different apartments first and then went back to see the 2 bedroom we ultimately rented. The apartment was just renovated and has brand new bathrooms and kitchen! The bedrooms are spacious and there are multiple closets. After signing the lease we went back to see the apartment twice to take pictures and check it out after the work was finished. We currently live right across the street but are expecting and we were looking for a bigger apartment in a family friendly building. River Place met that criteria. We looked at multiple other 2 bedroom apartments in the area but found they were more expensive with less room and often strange layouts. No fee! And onsite leasing office was really convenient. We can't wait to move in! read more

I love this building! One River Place is an incredible building with fabulous amenities and great apartment layouts. But even better, is that awesome staff. We moved here 2 years ago and just renewed for another 2 years because we really can't imagine leaving! This building hosts monthly events with an amazing event coordinator named Joner. Joner is kind, helpful, sweet and really organizes fantastic events for our building. The building is also very family friendly and many of the events are for kids!! We even have a wonderful parent community in the building. The River Club is also great... and the manager Lori is wonderful!! She is so caring and also organizes many of the kiddie events as well... Akada is another fantastic staff member in the River Club. I really have nothing bad to say about this building and the staff and events are a big part of what keeps us staying here!! read more
