The Kahlua Espresso was next-level -- rich, bold, and packed with real espresso beans that delivered an authentic coffee flavor in every bite. If you're a coffee lover, this is not optional. The Oat Around the World was just as impressive, loaded with generous chunks of homemade oatmeal cookie bars made right in the restaurant. It made every scoop feel indulgent while still perfectly balanced. The texture, creativity, and attention to detail really set Bright Ice apart from your typical ice cream shop. What truly elevated the experience was the outstanding service. The young lady Faith behind the counter was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about every flavor, and more than willing to let me sample as many of their unique offerings as I wanted. She was patient, engaging, and clearly passionate about the product -- the kind of service that turns a great visit into a memorable one. You can tell they care about ingredients, execution, and customer experience here. Easily one of the best ice cream experiences around, and I will absolutely be back without hesitation.

Lakeland's newest ice cream shop is officially open, with their grand opening being May 8!…read more Mootown Scoops is in a fantastic location right off of Lake Morton along East Palmetto Street. It's across the street from the public library, Lake Morton Black & Brew, and the AGB (aka Polk) Museum of Art. It's in close quarters to Misterfish and the Peach House, so there's activities, food & drink within super close walking distance to then top your time off with some delicious ice cream. The shop is pretty small, and it got fairly busy when we went so I'm curious to see how the line holds up. The register is closer to the door but you order on the far opposite end, but it's very narrow so I can see it getting extremely crowded even with a dozen or so people in line. But now, the ice cream, it was great! I was impressed that they have 3-4 non-dairy options which is more than the average ice cream shop. You can also choose from a homemade waffle cone, affogato, or croque glacé (ice cream sandwich of sorts). The croque glacé is a fun and unique option. I tried the espresso chip which will satisfy any coffee lover. However, the gator trail is a really popular one with chocolate fudge and peanut butter cups in vanilla ice cream. Oh, and you can also get a milkshake too. There's minimal outdoor seating but not much room to add more. You can park on either side of the building or across the street in the library parking lot.

The ice cream is good tasting but not a good value. I'm going to spare you the boring math but the…read moreprice per ounce is outrageous. Seriously, you're paying as much per ounce for a cup of counter-service ice cream than you are for an elaborate, luxury dessert in a fine dining restaurant. Also, I think it's disrespectful for a counter-service shop to ask customers for tips. There are literally millions of stores and shops where they merely hand you what you're buying and don't expect a tip. Because, let's be honest here, that's the most basic form of commerce... I pay you for something and you hand it to me. Period. You didn't even walk it out to a table, you didn't do anything else other than hand me what I paid for. That doesn't warrant a tip! How is it that millions of other shops selling millions of other products understand that yet some shops selling food related items feel entitled to a tip for merely handing you what you've bought??? Lastly, the cashier didn't even offer me a receipt. Which, I will point out, businesses are required by federal law to do for credit card transactions and by state law for transactions involving sales tax. I don't intend to file any legal complaints since this is about the principle of the bad customer service.

Having this location in South Lakeland closer to where I live is dangerous. The original is in way North Lakeland, and there's also one in Mulberry (called the Mulberry Ice Cream Company). But regardless which store you go to, it's a consistent and delectable product. They have a dozens of flavor options, from a full case of sorbets to kiddie options like superman to all the chocolate heaven you could want. They handmake the ice cream and you can tell when you have it, it's just different than other places. I usually end up trying something different every time I come since there are so many options- there truly hasn't been one I haven't like yet. And you can taste test if you're having a hard time deciding, which would be understandable. This location is cute- it's where the south Swan Brewing bar used to be so they kept the bar up and refashioned it to work as more of an old school ice cream parlor feel. Another fun part of these ice cream companies- they also have homemade waffle cones, like literally almost double digit flavors, and you can get the famous ice cream burrito or ice cream nachos. If you're a fan of malt flavors the malts they make are fabulous too.

They do try to meet everyone's sweets needs and keep you returning for more. Clerks are friendly, helpful & prompt. I do think their attempt to make it look like a business within a business back-fired a little with "Dirty Dawg Pop Shop" advertising. Very confusing when it's same owner retitling his business for simply characterizing his new product. Do appreciate some sugar-free soda options with the dirty sodas, but I plan to stick with the ice cream!
