This cute little "greenhouse" farmers market is just TOO stinking adorable! This place just opened…read moreJuly 11th in the middle of a pandemic! It's already amazing as it is and I can't wait to see what's coming next! I hear about farm dinners and food trucks and just being out in the fields. Can't wait to see this place evolve and flourish. For now, you get to have a little taste of their farm with all local produce, flowers, herbs and lots more handpicked right from their farm. Merry was so kind and helpful when it came to explaining the different peppers they have, their local produce even their really cool Greek basil. The best part is EVERYTHING is organically grown and pesticide free. What else could you possibly want! Oh yeah, if you want to become a member you TOTALY can. As a CSA member, you have the chance to not only support the local farmers but you will receive a farm fresh basket of seasonal vegetables EVERY week for 10 weeks. This is definitely a great deal if you don't live too far like myself! Every spring they have a plant sale and at the moment they still had some plants available for the late planters such as tomatoes, basil, peppers and some others of that kind. You can take a plant home right there and grow in a pot or put straight in the ground. Seeds are also available! Love their concept and what they do. The best part is being able to support local especially during these times. They're taking all types of safety precautions and have gloves available for you to pick your own produce and bag it yourself. Pricing is VERY reasonable. You can even take home your favorite piece of pottery, done all locally.

We discovered Wright's Farm by accident, our hotel concierge recommended we stop by the local farm…read morestand. Once we pull in, from the outside it seems like a typical farm stand. Walking inside, it's a different experience at Wright's Farm. This visit, I want to buy a bottle of local wine and some local cheese then go back to the hotel. I see there is a very nice selection of Hudson Valley and regional wines. I also buy a nice local, spreadable cheese along with some crackers. I noticed towards the back, I see a wall of homemade jams. And they're all packaged in these cute mason jars! Strawberry Jelly is a must but then we went a little nutzo with a few more jam flavors as well as homemade apple sauces, fresh cheeses and pickles! Sunday, its check out time and we're heading back to Long Island after breakfast. My wife said we need to go shopping for dinner today. I said, Let's go back to Wright's Farm and pick up dinner? And this was the highlight of our trip. In the cold cases, I see homemade ravioli, one of the stuffings was corn? I had plans to stop in The Bronx and get a few boxes of Raviolis. I gambled and said lets try their corn ravioli. O.M.G. This ravioli was fantastic! My wife made it with fresh sage from our herb garden. It was a little pricey but it was better than anything I had this year. For the week, we bought a large ham steak and a ham hock for pea soup. I saw something interesting, a black futsu squash? I told my wife, lets buy one and take a chance. Amazing! My wife cooked this squash and it came out deelish. Dessert? My sons inhaled the apple cider doughnuts we bought home for them. Wright's Farm, it was a pleasant surprise to discover your local farmstand.

This is the best place for apple picking in NY, hands down. Add on the fact they have several Hip-Camp spots for camping overnight, and a very large field for Harvest Host members to park overnight makes this one of our top destinations this time of year. Being only about 2 1/2 hours drive from Long Island it is well worth the pilgrimage to this incredible family run farm!

Cocktail mixers bottled in glass, made with real sugar and quality juice catch your eye. An array of sauces, pasta, teas, dairy, dressings and fresh desserts to choose from. Now that we're living in The Catskills, my quest to find that similar market prototype I grew to love in Westchester, continues. I had forgotten hubs and I came here before during one of our bi-annual trips to The Catskills. Recently though, when I searched for produce markets near work in Highland, Wallkill View in New Paltz popped up within a short driving distance. As you drive past all of New Paltz bustling shops and restaurants on Main St, you'll soon approach a sleepy farmland area overlooking Mohonk Preserve in about 5 or so minutes. I've been hard-pressed to find a market that tops my favorite one in Westchester and checks all the boxes. Wallkill View grows and sells a nice mix of produce the area has to offer. And when veggies and fruit aren't grown on-site or in season, they're sourced from elsewhere. Unlike other farm markets that operate only Sat+Sun, Wallkill V. is open everyday. Well...almost. These folks shut down for Christmas and throughout the winter- reopening in March. Prices are about $1 more than what I paid down in White Plains- but hey... I get it. Service is great though.

My lab wanted to go apple picking and we ended up choosing this orchard. I believe there were…read moreothers close to this one, but we went with Ochs because of the low admission fee ($5 per person) and petting zoo. It was an hour and a half drive from upper Manhattan. We went here on a random Wednesday afternoon so we basically had the orchard to ourselves. The first parking lot you see is for their store, you have to keep driving up for the u-pick orchard. There you check in to pay your admission fee, get your wristband, and get your apple picking bag(s). They give you a map where the ripe apples are highlighted for you. My favorite apples were the honeycrisp and snap dragons. They grow vegetables too but honestly we didn't explore the orchard that much (it was huge) so the only other thing I picked besides apples was a tomato, which I felt like was pretty difficult to find a good one. I handed out the apples to other friends and colleagues and they all liked them! There's something different about picking the apple straight off the tree than the apples you would normally just buy at a grocery store. It's a lot crispier when you pick them yourself! The store has apple cider doughnuts! Now being that I am a Californian where we don't have this apple picking culture, I was wondering what all the hype around apple cider doughnuts was about. NOW I GET IT they're so good! Unfortunately since we went on a weekday the doughnuts weren't fresh (they make them fresh on the weekends) so some of them were stale, but most were still good. It's honestly more of a cake than a doughnut, but so good! The doughnuts are self serve towards the back. The store also had a cat on the prowl haha We ended up not even having time to visit the petting zoo, but overall I think my colleagues had a good time here and I would recommend this orchard for anyone trying to have a no frills apple picking experience. I believe there was like a building restroom closer to the store and port o potties closer to the u-pick orchard.

We came on a winter day few days after Christmas and they had free samples of apple cider. I got some tea and honey to bring back home to FL. I also bought some apples and they were so soft inside and juicy. Unlike any other apple I've had. I wish I had a way to bring the Amish butter home since a family member has it in their home I often have it with bread in the morning. The staff were friendly, and everything was well-organized. Heads up It's a bit busy during peak times, but that's to be expected at a popular place. But when we came on a Saturday they were practically empty and lady made a joke not to come on the weekends so I assume normally it's a busy day or they dedicate it to stocking up since when we came I saw about 3 of the staff unboxing stuff. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with a charming atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back next season!
