The meat dept is always friendly and their meat is really good. The produce is always very well kept but sometimes they have too much varieties of one produce. For example they had 4 different types of cherries to choose from. I feel that's a bit excessive and confusing for the customer. I would have to take a way a star because I think their take home items like on their food bar and in the deli case isn't very good. I've been trying some items out and they don't have very good flavor. I could make the same items for a lot less.

They have great organic rice for super cheap, spices and produce that you can't get anywhere else within about a 30 minute drive, and stuff like the pink Himalayan salt (Whole Foods sells it for $15, they sell it for like $7 and in larger containers). The staff is always super friendly and is happy to help you find things or answer any questions you have. On top of that they cook samosas each morning that they sell for like 1$ or so. Particularly if you come in early while they're still nice and hot, get one on your way out. They are awesome.

Someone once shared that this Fresh Market gets the castoffs of other locations, that it's not a…read morefirst-run location, and I kinda believe it. Pros: they carry the items that I love that I can't really find elsewear, or as close to me. The Organic Califia Almondmilk creamer, Kielbasa, and certain cheeses and GF treats, to name a few. Cons: they often don't restock items for weeks at a time, I am still waiting for them to restock the Toto cookies, it's been weeks. Their prices aren't competitive (they really raised the price of my favorite matcha) and they either don't know how to properly store cold items, or this is a second run store. Case in point, my favorite parmigiana reggiano. First discovered at the Kenwood location, I was happy to find it here, but about 4-6 weeks ago, they were all pretty close to expiration date, and some were growing mold. I returned recently, to see if they had fresh product to purchase, and they said they can't keep them from getting moldy!! Yet I walk into the Kenwood store the next day, and they they are, mold free! It can also take forever to find someone to help you, and unless it's the manager, they aren't helpful at all. While I am happy to purchase said creamer and kielbasa here, it's silly I have to travel to a different location to trust the cheese. Plus, the service is WAY better at the Kenwood location. Fresh Market West Chester, you need to step up your game, especially with another grocery store about to open nearby!

Jungle Jim's lives up to its reputation as the Disneyland of grocery stores. For the best Bay Area…read morecomparison, it would be like if you took Berkeley Bowl and made it the size of two Costcos and gave it Trader Joe's vibes. It really has products from all around the world. When we arrived, we didn't know about the giraffe and rhino entrance system, so we parked in the front and entered through the rhino entrance. Apparently, the rhino entrance is optimized for shoppers coming here for everyday necessities and the giraffe entrance is optimized for the full experience. Ultimately, the store is all connected so it doesn't really matter, but you may save yourself a few steps by going to the back parking lot and entering through the giraffe entrance if you want to explore the whole store. They have an extensive beer, wine, and liquor section, though we didn't buy anything as we were going to Louisville next and wouldn't have space in our luggage for an extra bottle. The international section is huge. Based on my experience, I would say that for each individual country, the spread of packaged goods doesn't quite reach the level of a full Asian supermarket, but the selection is about as good as an ethnic corner store. Still, there's no other store in the country quite like this; Berkeley Bowl doesn't have the breadth or depth of coverage. Now, one area where Berkeley Bowl shines is in produce; while Jungle Jim's has a very extensive produce section including international produce, I would consider them a tie in terms of variety, despite the former's much smaller footprint. Now, they do keep it local as well. They sell various brands of canned Cincinnati chili, frozen goetta, Cincinnati-made whisky, and Cincinnati-roasted coffee. We got several bags of coffee from at least three unique local roasters, generally roasted within the last 1-2 months. After getting home and tasting it, it was very good. Overall, prices can be a bit steep, but it's worth it for hard-to-find items that you can't get anywhere else. There are also some sale and clearance items where you can snag a good deal.

A wall of frozen foods, didn't study them but I did notice pot stickers (imported from an Asian country, needless to say). English as a second (or third) language on every can, box and bag. Oh.... and Tiger Balm! It's a fully complete small local independent super mart. As a native New Yorker of Italian and Polish descent, I'd call this store THE most authentic, and complete, Asian mart in the area ... perhaps the only one, too? Been here twice, the other shoppers were all Asians, as were the staff. Felt like I was back on Main Street in Flushing for a while. Which is cool. The first time we stopped in, I bought a small jar of that chili garlic sauce, which is made by the same folks who bring you Sriracha rooster sauce. In fact the jar has the same rooster logo. Never saw it anywhere else and wanted to try it. That jar got used up PDQ so we came back today for the large economy size. And of course grabbed some other goodies as well. Gotta love those happy Asian cakes, cookies, and crunchies. Prices were more than reasonable, if you're looking to stock up on any type of Asian goods, I'd say skip Jungle Jim and come here instead. Friendly employees/owners, too, who seemed happily amused by my enthusiasm for Hello Kitty - and my reaction to the pig's head. Ahh, would that we had a similar ITALIAN mart within striking distance! I continue to hope and dream. This place is meant to be Asian, though, and since Asian it is, and a complete market, five stars it is.

Because I wasn't in my usual car, I didn't have my cloth bags with me--which I'm used to carrying after living in California for 30 years. When I got home, the bottle of port fell right through the flimsy plastic bag they provided. It was not wrapped in paper or double-bagged. This is actually the second time this has happened to me; a month ago, a glass bottle of juice fell through one of their bags in the pouring rain, and I was so soaked cleaning it up in the parking lot that I didn't even bother going back inside. I brought the broken port bottle back the next day. While the manager did replace it, she repeatedly kept telling me how I could purchase bags from them. I explained to her multiple times that I already have my own bags and was simply in a different car, but she just kept repeating, "We have bags that you could purchase." She continued to gaslight me instead of just admitting they were wrong and that their staff should have packaged a heavy glass bottle properly so it wouldn't fall through. Very disappointing customer service.
