This is THE standard that all car repair shops should aspire to. Everyone needs a good mechanic but it hard be hard to know who to trust. I live in Albany but have been working in Brattleboro for the past few weeks. My car had a muffler problem, I made an appointment and they took care of me incredibly well. Apparently they had to call five or six places before finding the exact part they needed, which they eventually found at a shop in Manchester, NH. They sent a truck, got the part, did the repair, and had my car ready for me first thing the next morning. And they charged me much less than I expected to pay. Just cost of the parts plus 1.5 hrs labor. Could have easily justified charging me more than that but they didn't. I've never considered tipping a mechanic before but I am totally impressed, hence the raving review. Oh and they changed a belt for me that was bad too. I may drive the two hours over from Albany for any more repairs I may need in the future, he that good. And it's hard to find a good, honest car repair shop. It's no wonder they are so busy. Only thing to know is you have to call in advance to make an appointment, because they are small and definitely busy! Also, the person who recommended Fletcher's auto shop to me told me that a friend of hers had a five year old RAV 4 that needed new brakes. Brought it to the dealership, who gave them an estimate of $1800. My friend said let Donnie Fletcher take a look before you have the dealer do it. His estimate was $500. So they went with him. But here's the twist: when they went to pick up the car, they were told it actually took a little less time than they initially thought it would, so the final cost was only $400. Are you kidding me? This is the type of service and honesty you only get in a small town like Brattleboro, where integrity and reputation mean more than a few extra bucks. Highest possible recommendation.

I just took my car in to check a "service needed" light and, as much as I try not to be a girl who knows nothing about cars, I know nothing about cars and I think it's pretty obvious. This morning, I swapped the winter tires (already mounted on separate rims) onto my wife's car at home. One of the tires was completely flat; had a leak along the bead. So I knew it needed to be remounted and balanced. I called up TW, and Walter said they could squeeze me in because of the urgent nature of my wife needing the car for travel. And this despite their heavy workload with all the winter changeovers this time of year. They got me right in and taken care of quickly. Most surprising, they didn't charge me, even though I hadn't bought the tires and wheels there. "You're a regular, don't worry about it." I'm not promising that they would do that for every customer. But I feel it's indicative of their overall approach to business.

They genuinely care about their customers, do excellent work at very reasonable prices, are articulate and knowledgeable about what was done and what they foresee needing to be done, and seem to consistently go above and beyond expectations. I made an appointment to have both items addressed. Instead of fixing the issues they charged me $200 to confirm that indeed the truck was throwing a code and the block heater cord needed replace (they originally wanted $400). I spent an hour there as well as the $200 and my vehicle still needs repair. They did indicate that if I had the work done I would get the $200 credited to the bill. The estimate was outrageous! Over $400 to replace a FILTER. Remove 8 bolts and install a $130 part, reverse the process. Maybe 1/2 hour of labor. NO way! Again go somewhere else!

He did not disclose: broken air conditioning compressor, oil leak, broken back window motor, ill fitting front fender repair, front lights worthless, radiator leak, extra key worthless, various hoses needing replacement, bent wheel rims, I found out too late about his bad reputation among other mechanics and townspeople. I asked him several times to do the right thing and buy back the car. I have repeatedly contacted him about these issues he has never responded. It it unconscionable a dealer would sell a car and not present the issues wrong with it. On top of this he charged me $1,500. more than the blue book price. Beware, he uses a dealer blue book to show you the ( higher) value estimate.
