    Northampton Transmission

These guys do great work, and pricing is fair. They had me back on the road quickly as well. As a…read morewoman it can be stressful taking my old car to a shop but I always feel comfortable at Northampton transmission because the service is honest and I'm treated fairly. Thank so much!!!

This place has a very bad rap when you ask around for a good reason. They largely benefit from…read morebeing the only transmission service in town. Last year when my check engine light came on and I brought my car to them, they told me that my whole transmission needed replacing right then, because it could fail in the next few months. (I've waited to give this review for that reason). They were urging me to get the work started right then, a cool $2800 right after I was out of work with a cancer diagnosis, and in desperate need of a working car to get to Boston for life-saving treatment, which I even told them. I was panicking more than any other time in my life, so I went out of town to get a second opinion. The other shop I found (in Springfield) tinkered with it for a few minutes for free and assured me it would be ok and was not a safety issue. 14 months later, my transmission is still doing just fine. I wish I had the resources to talk to a lawyer; this is unconscionable business practice. It put me under even more totally unnecessary stress than I was already facing, and it wasn't even true. And for the service of looking at the transmission, they charged me over $90 without mentioning before that it would cost so much. Even while they were explaining all this work I supposedly needed, they treated me like I was wasting their time, because they (I think Dave) kept saying "normally we work on cars that need $5,000-$7,000 in work", like mine was barely worth the dirt on the tires to them because it's old and basic. I still can't believe they tried to do that to me while I was facing a threat like cancer, needing to know that my car could get me to appointments safely.

Global Truck Traders have successfully completed many projects for me over many months…read more I think of myself as a perfectionist but Global take things to the highest level and don't stop until a job is perfect. Brenda and Alicia at the front desk are the warmest, kindest most helpfully ladies you could possibly meet, where nothing is too much trouble and you are treated like family. Alex has an incredible depth of knowledge from decades of experience and if you add this to all the old souls that are part of his team then there isn't much they haven't seen or don't know. In my experience there is nothing they can't figure out or solve. Alex has an extraordinary problem solving ability on older vehicles and an amazing skill set in finding almost impossible to find parts or in the worst case he will rebuild or fabricate the required part himself. The man does not tire or have any quit when it comes to solving a problem! When standing in reception you will hear trucks driving past blowing their horns an ongoing recognition of great work from an army of happy customers. Unless an urgent emergency repair situation, repairs take time as parts need to be sourced, work needs to be completed and Alex personally checks all completed work before it leaves his yard. If it's not up to his standard of perfection it doesn't leave. Global's reputation and quality of work means they always have all bays full completing their customer's requests. So if you are rational and reasonable and give them the time required to assess, source parts and complete the work, I am very confident you will join the long list of happy customers. I have no hesitation in unreservedly recommending Global Truck Traders to you as they are good, honest, honorable people who do great work when you give them the time to solve your problems. In my experience it is rare these days to find a man of his word and an organization that stands behind its work so I won't risk going anywhere else.

if I could give zero stars I would. I was told that this business worked on RVs and campers…read moretrailers. The owner will tell you he has 50 years experience which is a lie because his daughter at the desk told me they just started working on campers when the business down the street decided they no longer wanted this part of their business and turns all repairs of campers over to them. This is a huge mistake! These people have very little knowledge of camper repairs. They are probably extremely knowledgeable about diesel engines and repairs of that kind but when they put their hands on my 2018 coachman, Catalina travel trailer, they made a catastrophic error. Let me start by saying when I called and asked if they replaced roof seals on trailers, ( this is some thing that needs to be done every 4 to 6 years) when the seals become cracked and will allow water to come in and damage your trailer. They said yes. I left my camper for a week , when I came back to pick it up, they had decided to realign my slide out without consent, Did not replace one seal in my entire camper cut too short my wire harness that plugs into my truck for the braking system, and failed to repair my oven. Seems like the only thing they did correctly was wire my back up camera, which had an existing wiring harness, so the job was not that difficult, and pack the bearings on my camper which is a $200-$300 job tops!!. They charged me an exorbitant amount of $2000 and told me that my slide out was damaged when I dropped it off. I asked them to check all the seals because I suspected there could be a slight water damage above , my slide out. Turns out we found the crack in the corner of the roof, ON OUR OWN, they did not! They told us everything was sound, but our slide out was not, and they had to readjust it. When we attempted yo puck up our camper It made the most horrible sound when we tried to put the slide in and out. He told us it was making that noise when we dropped it off. This business is more than Crooked. They are criminal! We were charged $2000 for this business to damage our camper! The night after we picked up the camper, it rained and water poured into the side of our camper through the corner of the slide out. Our slide out was so out of alignment after they were done, and the corners of our sweep were torn from where they misaligned it. I called them and asked them to call a repair place to come out and fix the damage they caused, and they refused to return my call! I will be contacting my lawyer and the Better Business Bureau. This business is crooked!!! when I drop the camper off on a Monday they didn't put their hands on my camper until that Friday so the job was obviously rushed, and they had no intention of doing the work that I asked them to do. I suspect they never even attempted to fix my oven. How do you charge someone for trying to fix some thing. It's either fixed or it's not! They are not licensed to work on campers and have no training in this field. Do yourself a favor and take your camper to a licensed professional! Our camper was dropped off August 7,2023 and we picked it back up on the 14th. They kept our camper that day for several hours after we tried to pick it up so that they could fix it and it still was released to us in disrepair. First two pictures are the damage to my right side of my slide. Second two pictures are the opposite side undamaged the slide was so out of alignment. There was a inch difference on the inside of the camper where the water was coming in. this was not where we experienced water damage, the tiny break in the roof seal we were able to catch in time and thankfully, so was the damage they caused with our slide.
