This was my first visit to Cookout, and overall it was an interesting experience. The menu can be a…read morelittle confusing at first glance because there are so many options packed onto the board, but the gentleman at the register was very patient and walked me through it step by step, which I appreciated. The dining area itself appeared clean, and their posted health inspection score was a 94. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and cheddar cheese bites, along with a half sweet tea and half unsweet tea. Everything came out hot. The cheddar cheese bites were especially good and full of flavor. The fries were hot but a little underdone and not very crispy, although they still tasted good. The half-and-half tea was excellent and very refreshing. One major downside, however, was the condition of the men's restroom. It was in rough shape, with splattered soap all over the vanity area and generally poor cleanliness. It was unpleasant enough that it would make me hesitate to bring my wife or family here unless that situation improves. So overall: friendly service, hot food, and some tasty items on the menu--but the restroom cleanliness needs serious attention. Fix that, and this place would make a much better impression.

I got more cheese bites this time, so that was great. I got a sweet tea, which is always good at Cook Out and treated myself to a chocolate blueberry milkshake. Awesome I will probably stop here again when passing through.

Smithfield BBQ in Warsaw is pure comfort food for me. It's right in my small hometown and no matter…read morehow long I've been gone, this is always one of my first stops when I'm back. It's just that kind of place that brings me so much comfort. This restaurant is reliable, unfussy, and really good at what it does. As is the case throughout the South, the fresh brewed iced tea is one of the highlights. One sip and it immediately tastes like home. My favorite thing on the menu has always been and will always be the Brunswick stew. It's absolute comfort food that's warm, hearty, and nostalgic in a way that hits every time. It's an Eastern North Carolina tradition, and Smithfield BBQ is one of the best in the business. As for other regional specialities, the hushpuppies deserve their own shoutout too. The slightly sweet cornbread batter is perfectly fried every time, which makes these little carb morsels crunchy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside. I've been eating them dipped in ketchup since I was a kid and I'm not about to stop now. Quit quietly judging me, LOL! The bbq sandwiches are messy and not designed to be easy to eat on the go, but the bbq plates are the best deal. I love getting the pulled pork plate with potato salad (the best). Since I'm Eastern N.C. born and raised, I basically was born with a taste for classic vinegar bbq sauce. Smithfield's is terrific, and I love drowning my pork in that tangy goodness. Every bite seriously brings me back to lazy summer Sundays hanging out with my best friend in my Grandmama's grassy backyard. You can't put a price on those culinary memories.   Service is fast, takeout is easy, the dining room's small but cozy, and there's even a drive-through for when you're in a hurry. Smithfield BBQ is not trying to be trendy or fancy, nor have they ever been. It's just a place that serves really solid Eastern North Carolina BBQ done right. For me, Smithfield's isn't just a restaurant, it's a family tradition.

Very clean and well kept restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. They even have additional picnics tables out back as well. Lots of BBQ options. They also have chicken fingers and tons of sides. They have pork rinds that are great as well. They even sell some merchandise to take home with you. Don't leave without some pulled pork! It's a vinegar based sauce and oh so delicious. Worth the stop!!! Super friendly employees and just a terrific NC local restaurant offering fabulous food with lots of options.

This is a really solid Bojangles stop just off I-40 and one I've been happy to pull off for more…read morethan once. The Cajun filet biscuit was exactly what you want from Bojangles, hot, crispy, and satisfying, and the Bo-Rounds were fresh. What truly stood out, though, was the ranch. I found out that some smaller-town Bojangles make their ranch in-house, and wow, the difference is noticeable. It's creamier, more flavorful, and miles better than the typical pre-packaged version. Honestly, it made the entire meal. Service was quick, the restaurant was clean, and everything came out hot. It's not reinventing Bojangles, but it's executing it very well and that homemade ranch alone earns this location an extra star in my book.

This Bojangles is one that actually still has the cult classic Cheddar Bo biscuits! Honestly, it is…read moreworth the trip to get one. If you've never had a Cheddar Bo, let me introduce you to pure heaven on Earth! First, they take a buttery, crispy biscuit and stuff it with a huge hunk of melty cheddar cheese. Even if this doesn't sound good to you, I promise you it'll change your foodie life! It's one of my comfort foods from my childhood, and one bite takes me right back. You may have to wait if you order one, but all Cheddar Bo's are prepared to order. In fact, when they tell me to pull around because the biscuits are still in the oven, it makes me HAPPY. That means you get the hottest, freshest biscuits around. And nothing is better than a Cheddar Bo right from the oven! It's best not to think about the carbs or calories (or fat: this thing just drips butter grease when you bite into it), but it's the number one reason I love Bojangles. Skip everything else and go for the Cheddar Bo. You can thank me later.
