Horrible service. Food came out like you'd expect McDonald's to be however asking for anything seems like a nuisance to the employees

Took forever for 2 cheeseburgers and then ignored me when I asked for a sweet tea that wasn't out for me to pour myself. Very rude staff.

A really clean location. Food was typical McDonalds. Inside service was horrible and inattentive in the most basic ways, kinda depressing.

Been coming here for many years. I am very distantly related to the Cain family and my mother's…read morefamily lived in the area (Live Oak) since King George granted them some land in The Way Backness. Anyhow... what a place to visit the past and get the best burger ever. This is the Carolina style burger, onions, slaw, chili, ketchup and mustard. My husband gets lettuce and tomaters (sic) on his but bless his heart, he's from Charleston SC. Tch... I get mine with mayo, mustard and copious ketchup. I prefer just me, the condiments, and the high-holy of that patty. The bun is steamed in what appears to be a 1950's-era Fresh-O-Matic and when the whole thing arrives to you wrapped in white tissue-like paper you don't even need teeth to eat. Just gum it. That's how tender they are. There's a breakfast menu of such delectable items as fried bologna sandwich, bacon egg & cheese sandwich, fried sausage... you get the picture. I've said for years I was going to go down and have breakfast one day but I've never made it. As a child I eschewed the cheeseburger (youth is wasted on the young, I swear) and got those good old red hotdogs. They were good too, and remained my Mamma's 'choix préféré' until her death at 83 years of eatin' Southern. I still go with my almost 90 year old Daddy and indoctrinated my son at an early age. THIS is food for everyone. Every thumb and a few fingers up for Cain's!

We were hungry and 'needing relief' so popped in for a bite. Three friendly ladies working the counter took our order. Prices were crazy low compared to the touristy spots we left behind in Myrtle Beach, or any in Los Angeles from where we recently moved. I wanted something a little different, so I ordered a pork chop sandwich. It was literally as the name implies, a pork chop on two pieces of white bread, bones included. I chucked a bit, and dug in. The flavor was good, and it was tender and juicy. The bathroom was another story. Sign said 'get key from store', so went in and asked for the key. Young guy at the counter handed me a ring of about 8 keys, pulled out two of them and said that it was one of these. It was not, nor was any of the others on the ring. I returned and explained, he came back with me and was equally unsuccessful. So he used one of the keys to slide behind the bolt and opened it that way. While I saw no evidence, it was quite foul-smelling, and I hurried about my business and left. I purchased two bottles of water from the lunch counter ($1 each, just like Vegas!), and we headed down the road.

The dining area itself appeared clean, and their posted health inspection score was a 94. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and cheddar cheese bites, along with a half sweet tea and half unsweet tea. Everything came out hot. The cheddar cheese bites were especially good and full of flavor. The fries were hot but a little underdone and not very crispy, although they still tasted good. The half-and-half tea was excellent and very refreshing. One major downside, however, was the condition of the men's restroom. It was in rough shape, with splattered soap all over the vanity area and generally poor cleanliness. It was unpleasant enough that it would make me hesitate to bring my wife or family here unless that situation improves. So overall: friendly service, hot food, and some tasty items on the menu--but the restroom cleanliness needs serious attention. Fix that, and this place would make a much better impression.

I got more cheese bites this time, so that was great. I got a sweet tea, which is always good at Cook Out and treated myself to a chocolate blueberry milkshake. A lot of people walking around, but not a lot happening. I decided since I was pretty hungry to go to the bar figuring I might get quicker service there. I started with a water and the menu. And since it's called fat burgers, I definitely was going to try a burger. I tried there fatty. I think it was called. Basically a build your own burger. I love the option of pink or no pink. I got mine with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. the waitress recommended the regular fries, so I went with that. I have to say the food was fantastic, the wait staff was very pleasant. However, the TVs weren't working so I couldn't watch any sports. And it took me over 15 minutes to flag somebody down to close out my bill. Like I said it wasn't that busy , so I didn't expect that to happen at all. The food was very good, but only 4 stars because the help wasn't very helpful. Sorry.

It has a Scottish feel to it, although I've never been to Scotland, I will compare it to German restaurants. It is very cool, on the outside it is surrounded by trees and that's exactly what the restaurant is built around, so you will see natural live trees on the inside of the restaurant. The food was AMAZING! I mean there was no other way to explain it. I ordered the teriyaki turkey and Korean beef with the stuffed loaded baked potato! OMG! The taste was one of a kind for sure. I also had the sweet tea and whooooo, boy do I miss the sweet tea from North Carolina! The service was great as well. While we were waiting for our food, I went to the back and did a small wine tasting. I purchased a small wine glass with several bottles of wine, in addition to two jars of homemade moonshine jam! Holy cow! I was able to ship this back to Vegas! I can't wait for it to get here! I would definitely say, if you're anywhere in North Carolina or plan to make a trip, that would be the place to visit. It's a lovely, nice, homegrown restaurant and wine shop with other small trinkets to buy if you're interested. Lastly, the most important part is me being home with my father's side of the family. As an example, the Prime Rib is good, but it should be and could be excellent. Seasoning and preparation, need to be revisited. One thing completely missing is menu variety. Adding a "Chef's Special" would be a good way to start. Service has always been excellent. Ambiance needs attention., as some areas are not up to what one expects in a $60+/person dinner tab. The overall experience is "almost" memorable, and with some modest changes, it could be always memorable. I am great supporter of "The Squire", and only give these suggestions to make it even better. I look forward to reviewing with a 5-Star rating. But today, only 3-Stars is a fair assessment.
