Overall, I am stoked with my thrift store finds. The workers up front weren't particularly attentive. Their customer service skills were a 6 out of 10. The place has a ton of shoes and everything is nicely organized by color (including the plates/house ware section). There is a ton of clothes and some art, children's games, and lots of chairs. There is a large parking lot and they accept donations as well.

Many of my favorite pieces of clothing have come from this particular store. Also, there is a large assortment of housewares and, depending upon what is available, sometimes a large assortment of furniture. We needed several folding chairs for a family event and I went in weekly until I had the number of chairs that we needed. As with my clothing purchases, some of my favorite furniture items (bedroom dressers in particular) and housewares are from the Salvation Army. Although I am not an antique collector per se, I've seen some great vintage furniture and houseware itms for sale. As for the cleanliness of the store - well, these are donated items so not everything is sparkling! The long-time employees are friendly and engaging; some of the newer ones may not have acquired the skills to work in a retail environment - which is the case in even upscale retail stores as well. So I recommend a trip to the Salvation Army - even without a planned purchase in mind. You have to factor in enough time to look around. You never know...

The girl comes to the door and says rudely to me that I need to bring everything inside and proceeds to shut the door. These things were heavy and once inside the store she said I had to lift them into a bin. This was very difficult, and hard for someone in their 70's. I was donating nice items from a downsize. She acted angry that I was donating. There were a lot of donations left outside, so I'm not sure why she picked me with all the heavy items to have to bring them inside. So, I guess, the moral of the story is donate where you can get some type of minor assistance or use a bin to bring it in all at one time. I made eight trips of heavy items, they didn't even seem to want.

I found many of the items to stick to specific eras/styles. A lot of Victorian, "cottage", Renaissance. A lot of stairs, and I didn't see an elevator. Some off street parking. Staff at the exit were friendly, but maybe a little sparse throughout the entirety of the store. This may be due to the vendor aspect.

It's a one-story warehouse-style building that's been sectioned and compartmented off into smaller areas where the wares of dozens (I think---it seemed that diverse, anyway) of individual vendors are arranged. The layout of the actual interior is deceptive in that you eventually reach a point toward the back of the main building where you realize that a series of doorways (and with abundant signage indicating what you'll find through each one) actually leads to several additional huge spaces beyond, each with even more items to browse. One of these "back room" areas contained multiple racks filled with vintage clothing (both women's and men's) that had clearly been carefully curated via the vendor's high standards of overall quality/vintage condition, and the diverse range of clothing types (costumey vs. casual/everyday vs. formal/dressy, etc.) was particularly impressive. My visit to AW happened accidentally and with only about an hour remaining until they closed for the day, so I know I didn't get to see all the rooms, let alone all the items, that were available at that time. Even so, I managed to find a wide selection of things to purchase (art prints, vintage collectible calendars, 5+ articles of clothing, two beautiful lamps, and more!) and was definitely able to confirm AW as a 100% worthwhile stop to include on any list of must-visit Syracuse antique/vintage shops. And what's more, every single staff member and vendor that I encountered while I was shopping went absolutely above and beyond in helping me find my way around, learn more about the back stories of certain items I expressed interest in, and trying on the clothing items I'd picked out prior to deciding whether to buy them. They seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me as a first-time shopper, and in turn I got to know several of them on a first-name basis even in the short amount of time I had to spend that afternoon. All in all I have nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience I had at my first Antiques West visit, and I can't wait to go back again soon!

The ladies that ran, the shop were so friendly. I mentioned that I was visiting from Sacramento, and one of the ladies told me that before she retired, she lived in the Bay Area. Small world. There's a good selection of clothes, and especially some very pretty dresses. They have some housewares, they have some knickknacks, the stock always changes, so you never know what you will find. For only five bucks, I found a "men's mineral face mask." I don't know how well this stuff works in rejuvenating my face, but it makes it feel much better afterwards. The section of things other than clothing was pretty small, and I saw ONE piece of furniture which (which was already sold), but there was a LOT of clothes. No pants in my size, but I picked out a shirt and a few fun blazers, and my mom got some very nice dresses. There appeared to be a sizable plus size section (I didn't think to pay that much attention) but there was at least a large rack chock full of tops. Nothing spectacular, but a very fun experience:)
