It's a given that the business is always bustling at the University (TX HWY 380W) in the quite vibrant and creative bohemian city of Dynamic Denton, otherwise known as the Home of Happiness, a sly reference to the major motion picture show created as a final term project for the Radio, TV, Film Department at the old North Texas State University; it underwent a minor name change in 1985, which was my senior year, and before I went south to study Organizational Behavior and Management, and graduating in December of 1992. I emigrated to Christchurch, New Zealand, where I gradually assimilated myself into the purest climate that I have ever seen. I had found my own Eden, an idyllic South Pacific former crown colony of England. I have already seen the best places in the world and believe me, the Province of Canterbury, in which the city is located. I decided to stop here while running errands and I'm glad I did. I was blessed with some awesome finds today. I found a Wilton football shaped cake pan that can retail upwards of $19 but priced at $3.29. My greatest find: a "bag" containing 5 wine openers priced at $5.49. Just one alone is retails for $25 brand new. I also found 2 Wilton dozen count donut pans for $3.29 each. read more

the selection is pretty good overall. employees are efficient. some of the items are expensive for the quality. game missing pieces.

From what we could see there was nothing decent there..... but you had to fight thru the heat. No air. One big fan was all they had. We had to leave. Strange the office had air and so did the resource center. Guess we don't matter. Save your time and skip it. I thought ours in Ft Worth sucked....this one beat it. read more

I would not recommend coming here. The african american cashier at register 2 scolded me for not letting him scan me out and began to argue with me on why I would "refuse him" and why I wouldnt let him ring me up and went to the white cashier at register 1. Do not come here unless you want anxiety on which register to "correctly" use and potentially be accused of being a racist because the cashier has his thong too far up his ass and you chose register 1 over register 2. read more

We used to live in North Haltom city, Texas, and often took stuff to Goodwill. We are always pleased with how they came out to our vehicle and pulled all our stuff out and immediately sorted & gave us a receipt. We recently moved to Denton Texas and had several items such as furniture, boxes, pictures, etc. that we couldn't fit in our new home so we took it to the Goodwill. When I got to the donation door, there were three guys standing there and they just looked at me when I got out. I asked what to do with the stuff to donate and they pointed to several bins that were sitting there next to them. I realized they were not going to help unload so I started unloading everything. When I got to the pictures which I had protected from being scratched, I said do you want me to put him in there because they'll likely get damaged. He just shrugged and said yes. I pulled out a 2'' x 4 mirror and said I didn't want to put it in there in case it got broke. His comment to me was that it's his so if it gets broken, it's on him. I'm 72 yrs old so it's not like I'm a young guy that they thought could unload everything easily. I don't mind helping unload but to have 3 guys standing there while I did so, after I took the time to load up stuff and drive it up there was insulting. Obviously very disappointed with that kind of customer service. Will be finding another thrift store to donate remaining items we could not fit on that trip. read more

Goodwills around here have not been very good lately...not clean..not priced well. BUT, this goodwill is the exception to that!! It was clean and very well lit with the prices being reasonable. They even have an area of new items and snacks. I got to speak with two employees as I was checking out and they were so friendly and welcoming. This is what other goodwills should be compared to! I know they can't control the items they get in, but I feel like they did a good job of putting out all different types of items with different pricing for every budget. I am adding it to my list of go tos when I'm thrift shopping. read more

A lot of good treasures are pre-picked in the back. I was there twice in the past week and had 2 interactions. The first I was going through a bunch of items they brought out and an employee came by and said "I think I got all the good stuff already but good luck, I didn't have a lot of time to go through it all". The second time I asked to see the stack of albums behind the counter and as one employee went to hand them to me the other one said "oh, those are (another employee name)'s". And this is why they don't have many treasures to find on the floor. The question then comes are they meeting their Charity Shelter for Taxes if donations are more like private picks in the back of the store before going out for the general public. read more

After my mom dropped off dentures to be repaired just down the street, we had time to go thrifting at Goodwill. Good stuff! The store was very organized and super clean. When I went to the Arlington one the other day, it was the same as well. It looks like goodwill has cleaned up its act. I'll definitely go back to either one in a heartbeat. Ended up picking up a couple of small Christmas gifts, and my sister-in-law's birthday gift. They didn't have many clothes in XL and up, but much more smaller sizes. I received a call from Goodwill corporate and they immediately terminated their employment relationship with Regina on University in Denton. They also apologized for her behavior and said that kind of behavior is not consistent with who the company is. Corporate was very kind. read more

Rude! Rude! Rude! On May 20 2020 i stopped by to leave a donation. The donation dropoff was closed off so i thought id drop off the stuff ( a couple of trash bags full of baby clothes that my grand daughter out grew) at the door, as i pulled up to the door i noticed an employee crossing his arms above his head, when i stopped and rolled down the window he shouted we are closed! We close in 7 minutes! I said no problem i just wanted to drop off this donation and the drop off was blocked off so i thought id drop it off in the front and you can get it later or in the morning...he immediately started to rudly mumble and say "you cant do that! Thats illeagle dumping"! I said its a donation drop off! Then he started to come forward as to help me but said it again this time in a rude mocking tone.."thats illeagle to just drop it off" at that point i told him to go back that i would donate at the thrift store down the street and told him how rude he was...never again will i donate at this location and I will make sure that I spread the word about the rudeness at this location...no GoodWill from these employees thats for sure! read more

I shop at a lot of resale shops for old canvas and items to bring back to life for a second chance. A lot of times you can find some real gems at a low price. I have been to this location a few times and had some success in searching however it never has a lot of items of interest. They are currently remodeling so I hope in the future there will be more items available and a more organized for those searching. Today's trip like others I sifted through various items searching for a hidden gem. I found the prices to be a bit high in comparison to other goodwill stores in way of canvas and old paintings, many well over the price you can get a blank canvas of the same size at hobby stores. This made no sense. I do not know how they price items at this store and others but it seems at least in the merchandise I was seeking to be a bit more costly than others. read more

Filthy! Filthy! Filthy! It is obvious that who ever manages this store does not give a sh?t. Things thrown on shelves and laying all over the floor. Three employees up front laughing and having a good time doing nothing. If filth is your thing then this is your place. UPDATE: This place has had a makeover and was impeccably clean on our revisit. The store is like any other goodwill out there, there is a wide selection of clothes and small selections of everything else. Its the prices of things that I'm a fan of. My roommate and I just moved into an unfurnished apartment and neither of us had any furniture so we decided to go check this place out. We wound up finding a sofa that was priced at $15.75 and a coffee table for $12.75. The coffee table is made of solid wood with a glass table top and the sofa is comfortable and didn't have any major tears of damages on it. read more

I would only give it 3 stars, but I give it the 4th for the gems you can usually find in the clothing, furniture and books section. We got a nice green pleather couch there for $30 and I also recently found a winter (I'm sure it's fake) fur coat for $8. Their section of books is a b it scattered and you have to glance at all of the titles to find what you're looking for, but there's always something neat (example: Just bought a book on comparative education in various cultures throughout the world). They're a bit more pricy than a regular thrift store, but it's definitely worth taking a journey to. read more

I've found some really nice clothes here, mostly dresses and sweaters, but some other stuff too.

The Denton Store is great. Very helpful employees, but all of the Volunteers are very nice also. You can find some wonderful bargains here. They put out new merchandise several times a day, so you have to hang in there and keep looking. I will say that sometimes the kids are out of control, but that is the parents fault, and the management often comes on the intercom to ask parents to please keep their children with them. read more

Very, very bad place to do business. I just bought a TV from there that turned on in the store and when i brought it home and tried it the next day it shut off after a minute. I called two days later and the manager said they couldn't do anything about it. She said to go and get it repaired. Are u kidding me? Not even a we'll give you credit or a different TV? Basically your SOL. I never heard of not even a 7 day return policy. Theirs is more like a 1 hour return policy. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET BURNT LIKE ME. read more

The stars are mainly for their prices. For the size of this Goodwill, I feel like they could fit a lot more selection in there. It's pretty sprawled out and doesn't have the packed-full feeling that all the other Goodwill's I've been to have. Some people may prefer that, but I don't. We all know Denton, especially the University strip, is littered with resale/consignment/thrift stores. If you go to Family Thrift and other shops along the road, their electronics are far too overpriced. They have this strange price tier where items are either 14.44 or 7.77 or weird stuff like that. A George Foreman at most thrift stores I've been to in the area will cost you $14.44, but at Goodwill they range from $3.50-$8.00. It just seems to me that next to garage sales, Goodwill is the best place in town to find a bargain, it's just a crapshoot as to whether you'll find anything good. read more

They have a great selection of skirts, shirts and jackets. Sometimes you can score on some great shoes too. A little pricey for used clothes, but not much is over $5. The staff is always super nice and the place is usually pretty clean. read more

Whatever you do, do NOT go to this location at 20 min. til closing. We stop at this location on our trips to north texas, and usually have no problem. EVERY other location says 15 minutes until close, and make your final selection. This one states 15 minutes until close, then turns out the lights, and turns off the electronics section, which I was shopping in at the time. My wife was choosing books at the time, and could not read the titles. I understand that they want to close on time, but this is not the way to keep customers. I expedite my perusing, but at this location, they have lost my business permanently! This is a bad business practice, and needs to be changed. My typical expediture per visit is 75-125 dollars. It will now be spent elsewhere. Store is nice, and the female clerk has always been friendly, but I don't like being rushed, after driving 125 miles trying to get there before closing.
