Years ago I used to have a job where I needed to wear suits and professional attire on a daily basis. For years I kept those suits and dresses thinking I was probably going to need them again in the near future. Well after five years of just storing them and never wearing them I decided to donate them at Dress for Success. Why I chose this nonprofit? Because I know that the clothes I donate will go to someone that actually needs it and will make good use of it. The donation process was super easy. They take donations Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 12:30pm, except for the first week of the month. When you arrive to the building, you need to head to the back area where you will see a gate. A staff member will let you in and will pick-up all your donations. If you need a donation receipt for your taxes they can also provide that for you. I am so happy that I was able to support this amazing organization and I appreciate all the work they do to empower women!

Our veterinarian had originally quote us almost $1,000 just for the spay, which seemed a little over the top for such a common procedure. I went online and found Spay Neuter Network which is a nonprofit that provides affordable spay/neuter services for dogs and cats. Making the appointment online was super easy and I originally only had to pay $20 to secure my dog's appointment. On the day of the appointment my husband dropped him off at 7am and by 3:00pm he was ready to go home. At the end, we did end up paying about $100 more for some additional vaccinations that our dog needed prior to the procedure. It's been a week since the surgery and my dog is feeling great and we haven't had any issues. I am so happy to have found Spay Neuter Network and will definitely recommend to all my friends and family!

During our trip to San Antonio in July, a visit to The Alamo was a must. There has been significant development around the Alamo, including expansion of the museum complex and improvements to many of the surrounding buildings. We stayed at the AC Hotel Riverwalk, so we took the scenic route and walked to the Alamo via the River Walk. One change that caught us by surprise was the ticketing process. On my previous visits, you simply waited in line and entered when it was your turn. This time, tickets were required. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, a staff member came by and reminded visitors of the ticket requirement. Fortunately, the ticket booth was just a short walk away. Since we were only interested in touring the historic church and not the additional museums, our admission was free. Once we returned to the line, things moved quickly, especially considering it was a mid-week summer day. One improvement I particularly appreciated was the controlled entry process. Limiting the number of visitors inside at one time made the experience much more enjoyable and prevented the exhibits from feeling overcrowded. Inside, we took our time reading the displays, learning more about the site's history, and taking photographs. At no point did we feel rushed or pressured to move along. The atmosphere was respectful and allowed visitors to experience the exhibits at their own pace. The Alamo continues to impress, and the improvements made to both the attraction and the surrounding area over the past decade have enhanced the overall experience. Whether it's your first visit or a return trip after many years, it's still one of San Antonio's most worthwhile destinations.

Probandt is an old warehouse and the goods are presented in a commensurate fashion, making it kind of a dump to go to. BUT it is very large and they have a lot of items. The Walzam Rd location is smaller, more store-like and a lot cleaner. Selection is similar but my impression is of smaller quantities and more limited selection. They both carry a wide range of construction and household materials, whether reclaimed from remodels or demolitions, or closeouts, seconds and scratch-and-dent. They also have a lot of paints, much of which is "evolve", a brand that keeps excess project or returned paint from being senselessly dumped in landfills. Prices are better than the building materials stores, but you still need to know what a good price is, as some of the smaller household goods can be found for less elsewhere (mainly online). But bargains are to be found if you don't mind spending time browsing. I suggest coming prepared with a complete list of what you might need, so you come away with what you really want at a price that suits you. All of that said, remember that this is a thrift store for Habitat for Humanity, a very good organization that makes affordable housing available for low income people. So anything you buy supports a great cause. I would have rated this 3-stars, but the nature of what their main focus is caused me to make it 4-stars since the dollars you spend here contributes to helping people in need.
