Save your time and your sanity…read more The employees at this location are extremely disrespectful. I have gone in only a few times to drop off clothing since moving to Rochester under a year ago. Each time I have left annoyed by the attitude, always finishing conversations and gossip with coworkers before acknowledging a customer. No greeting when walking in, and they make you feel like you're bothering them by coming in. Not to mention the lack of clothing that they'll take. I have been using Plato's all over Iowa i for a very long time so I know the "rules" on what they will or won't take and pack my drop off accordingly. The Rochester location recently offered me $16 for 3 agree People items. One sweatshirt worn once, a brand new never worn pair of leggings, and a fleece 1/4 zip. I ended up taking all my items back and declining that payout as it was a total joke. I took these same drop off bags to another location where they took nearly everything for $200+. I won't be going back... ever. I'd rather store the clothing while I wait for Poshmark orders to come in, which says a lot as I can't stand keeping it piled up in the house.

***IF YOURE SELLING YOUR CLOTHES BEWARE**…read more Thea was assisting me the entire time. I've never had issues with selling my clothes at this location until today. I was kind and respectful but I was met with a rude tone that made me uncomfortable. She told me they couldn't take any of my items because they "had so much pet hair, lint, pilling". She then told me "if you wash them and bring it back we might be able to look at them". Which is understandable but She never mentioned that any of the items were overstocked, or stained. When I washed the clothes and brought them back she told me that she couldn't take any of the items again now because of "overstock and stains". I was again met with the same rude tone and facial expressions. I would've had no problem with them not being able to take anything if her tone wasn't so passive aggressive, and if she didn't completely waste my time. It felt intentional given she was coming up with new reasons as to why she couldn't take anything both times. Mind you this has never happened to me at this location before. I had name brand items. I would recommend sellers going to another location or using depop/poshmark. Because the way I was treated today was ridiculous.

I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with this business. Their website clearly…read morestates that furniture and large items should be emailed ahead of time for approval, so I followed those instructions exactly. I emailed Jes with multiple pictures of a storage cabinet and end table - both in very nice condition - and asked, "do you take pieces like this?" Her response was a simple "yes." Based on that confirmation, my husband and I went through the trouble of getting a trailer, loading the items, and even taking time off work to deliver them. However, when we arrived, Jes refused to accept the pieces. When my husband showed her the email where she had said "yes," she claimed that she didn't mean "yes" she would take those exact items. When pressed, she admitted she "probably should have been more clear." This was extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of our time, effort, and money. To make matters worse, she also complained that our trailer was blocking her alleyway, despite the fact that we were there because of her prior approval, and had pulled the trailer over far enough that cars could get by. Clear communication, respect and accountability are basic expectations in any business, and this experience fell far short. I will never be returning and would caution others to think twice before relying on their process.

The Salvation Army is great, because it's by far the cheapest thrift store in town! Their prices…read moreare below dirt cheap! Back at their old location, they used to have a ton of stuff, however it appears that their new location doesn't have as much. They sell clothing, furniture, restuffed mattresses and a bunch of household items. However, they have next to no electronics (old stereos, TVs, etc...), but their used media section is pretty good. Vinyl is $.20 each and tapes and CDs aren't much more! The downside is that the selection isn't the best. Mayo literally drops off truckloads of office stuff off here on a regular basis. File cabinets go for $10/drawer, and office chairs go for $7. We got a giant a file cabinet that would go for $600 new for $50. Plus, it was stuffed with hanging folders (probably worth and extra $50). You have to stop there frequently, though because selection changes dramatically from day to day. Overall, Salvation Army is a good place.
