In those two hours I learned so much about the nonprofit world and the different organizations in our region. I love that you can hop on their website to easily connect with different organizations needing some support. Right now in COVID times it's a lot of meal packing and tutoring. They even have virtual opportunities for anyone wanting to volunteer without the exposure risks. They also have "skilled" volunteer opportunities for people who are looking to provide their professional services or areas of expertise to nonprofits in our communities. They have a couple…read moremobile clinics that they drive into rural areas of North Carolina and Virginia where there is little, or sometimes zero, options for vet care. The clinics spay and neuter dogs and cats for low cost or free, and people in this area really need that. I keep an eye out on my local NextDoor app and I see SO MANY people who are struggling to afford spay/neuter, or more often, affordable euthanasia for their animals. I always direct these people to PETA, and everyone is always incredibly thankful. People who live locally to PETA understand how helpful and important they are to the area for helping animals. PETA has also worked really hard to get laws created or changed in order to benefit animals - like chaining laws, making it illegal to leave a dog outside 24/7 without adequate food/water/shelter or out in severe hot and cold weather. The world needs more charity organizations like PETA to help animals.

I was so interested in their nonprofit work, and after a quick website visit, I learned that Coalescence creates space for all kinds of community groups to gather and learn together, partnering locally and globally to lift up important work. Events, co-working, and shared community workspace are all available, with donors and volunteers supporting the mission so this resource keeps growing. I am not sure who donates such top notch building materials but it is awesome to walk in and buy quality items that can upgrade our rooms at such a reasonable price. Things are easy to find and it you cannot locate it yourself, someone on the staff will walk you right to the item or provide you with exact locations so you don't have to wonder around when you are looking for a particular item.
