Walked in with a coffee I purchased next door was shopping for over twenty minutes with multiple items to purchase and wasn't asked, but yelled at by an employee for having a coffee inside the store. Walked in and was quietly browsing, my boyfriend and I minding our own business and intending to buy (We didn't look at the sign on the door *at the very bottom left* that said please leave drinks outside) so we were all happy looking around in the back of the store when a shorter lady with black hair in a ponytail, earpiece and a black collar shirt came from the back and yelled at us to leave the drinks outside in a very very very rude manner. There were several other people in the store and it was super quiet and I feel she went out of her way to make her customers feel embarrassed and unwelcomed. This Goodwill is unbelievably expensive. $25 for a Columbia puffer jacket with neck sweat discoloration. $12 for a very average button down shirt. Similar puffer jacket, same brand across the street brand new is $29. I have never come across such prices at a Goodwill. Fast and easy good will, smaller location but loaded up with items, didn't have to drive to the back to drop off my donations, thanks to the employees out front who were very helpful because I already inside the store at the employees entrance, so they accepted my drop off and saved me time. I've been bringing reusable items here for a few years. I usually put the items I bring in the bins myself. This time the attendant took the items from me and dropped them in the bins. Instead of setting a box of books into the bin, he just upends the box and all the books fall out into the bin. Other items were also roughly treated. I'll go to St Vincent DePaul next time. If you have anything the least bit fragile, don't bring it here. read more

I prefer to donate at this location as team members are consistently friendly, assist with determining appropriate bin location and have donation receipts immediately available. Parking is best upon opening and lunch time. Grateful for this service. Have been to others in the past 20 years, but this is my favorite. read more

I have donated items to this Goodwill pretty regularly throughout the past few years,. Usually, you pull up, someone helps you unload your items, and they give you a receipt. It worked out well, but sometimes I see them dumping the items into he large plastic bins in the parking lot, and I can tell they are just dumping possibly fragile items on top of each other. Just last week I donated some items for the first time in a long time. I dropped off a large bag of men's clothing, and a couple boxes of housewares. Though there were a couple of men working in the donation area, no one bothered to offer assistance. The bins were only vaguely labeled, so I asked which ones to use. I was mostly ignored by the one guy I approached who motioned toward a bin at the end. I am afraid that the box of good quality men's clothing will end up wrinkled and potentially unused. I carefully unloaded boxes of candles and dishes, but worry that heavier boxes will be dumped on top. of them. I was not offered a receipt, but they do have the booklets available and you can get one when you ask. I only once went inside this store. I was looking for items to put together my Halloween costume. It was super crowded when I went in, possibly due to others looking for costume items. The problem is that the place really stunk. It smelled strongly like sweaty socks. As soon as I saw they didn't have what I was looking for, I was happy to get outside quickly. I do not think I will ever go back in. As far as donations, I will only drop off junk that may not matter if is is broken. I will try other organizations for nice clothing and fragile housewares. read more

Stopped in at this Goodwill on a Sunday evening around 4pm. There was a good number of people but not too crowded. It's pretty well organized, some of the "trendier" items up front and easy to sift through. Then everything else on the racks in the back, by size and color. I found 3 nice pieces, all for about $7. Dressing room was in use, but they person got out pretty quickly and I was next in line. Cashier at the front was pretty quick as well. Parking lot is big and easy to park. read more

A clothing thrifters dream! Everything is organized by size which I really appreciate!! Pricing is pretty descent but there were some items that were a bit over priced for a thrift store (anything over $10 is overpriced for most items IMO), but I walked out with some great pieces! 10% off as well for students! I especially found shopping for pants easy here because it was organized by size and jeans were separate from other types of pants. Everything is very organized and clean and staff was very friendly. This Goodwill shop has such kind and friendly employees, which makes the shopping experience even better. Three of their employees greeted me and they looked enthusiastic to help their customers. Good customer service! I stepped out of the shop with just two clothing items, but a good amount of home decor stuffs. Some items are really pricey: Kate Spade purse for $40.00 or $49.99!? I am giving 5 stars specifically for an employee who provided the most amazing customer service - his name was Cesar. Initially, I went in w/o the intent to shop for a long period of time so I did not grab a basket but sure enough found some great deals and as my hands were filling up, Cesar immediately came to my aid and provided me w/a basket. Good thing he did cause I had a great time buying so many more things thanks to his help and that was a win-win situation. I will also try and forward this message or acknowledge him in corporate cause too often these exceptional employees do not get the recognition they deserve and their pleasantries help keep the dollars coming in! The shop is cute and small but during COVID yes it is a little too small so I hope they ensure they keep the doors open but indeed, it is a cool place that is low key for now. Unfortunately, some things are way over priced but luckily some things sneak in at a normal price. read more

For a place that relies on other peoples stuff to make money on, they sure have lousy donation hours. Hey, go through your house, closets & garage, pack up anything you don't want, pack the crap into the car to drive to us & hey, we're closed/go away. We don't need no stinkin' donations. At the bare minimum, can't they at least put an after hours drop box for clothes, etc. like everyone else. Unless you want to always remember specific days you're allowed to donate stuff, don't bother & go somewhere like The Salvation Army. Never had a problem there, hours are normal without having to check first & an after hours drop box for clothes. read more

We were frustrated with being turned away at 9:35 AM, not knowing about the new donation hours. Phoned and spoke to the manager who clarified some of the problems they have been having during and after the pandemic. We were disappointed in the rather gruff treatment we got in back by the reception man, but the manager, I think he was named Jessie, was tactful and apologetic and I hung up feeling in sympathy with the place. When I suggested they have an off-hours drop-off, he gave me some background about that policy turning into a magnet for the homeless and mischief, which caused more problems than it solved. It's so easy to look in without much perspective and make criticisms, especially when we're angry; I'm quite good at that. But our perspective is limited: I really didn't know what I was talking about, and I came away with an increased appreciation of how hard these folks are working and the problems they must deal with. read more

Okay so contrary to what I said before, I more recently have been discovering some good things at this location. Just the other day I purchased an ikea desk for $15 and some really cute brown boots that looked brand new for $12 A couple weeks ago I also discovered some nike workout pants for $5 and they are sold in stores for $50 and an urban outfitters purse for the same $5 and urban stuff is not cheap! My grandma also found a really cute coach purse. I was a little disappointed I didn't find it first. You win this time grandma! No but seriously The staff at this location is also great and are very helpful. Great and spacious Goodwill location! Much bigger than the thrift stores in Downtown La Mesa. Well-organized with a decent turnaround in inventory, and I appreciate the frequency with which they rotate their highlights by the front door. It's easier to navigate than the downtown La Mesa; this location is "centrally" located to a Big Lots and a handful of eateries with plenty of parking. The fitting rooms are not as well-maintained as the Santee location (can sometimes be a long wait time before staff can come to unlock a door) but they're kept clean and do the trick. Overall, I have a great & clean shopping experience at this secondhand store and am a fan! read more

Not bad. I like the size of this Goodwill, they have a decent amount of inventory without being overdone. I get intimidated by huge thrift stores because I'm one of those people who actually go through each rack. I like how they organized the front racks in the store to have the good brands, made it easier for me to find stuff. I spent about 45 minutes here and walked out with a bag of loot! haha read more

The people are great. The Store is very small, for the TONS of items they have in there. Shelves are stacked high with items on top of items. Very hard to shop. Very hard to park. REALLY REALLY WISH, Santee Goodwill would take over the now empty Best Buy Space. It's large, has great parking, and a convenient alleyway for dropping off those donations. And you don't give discounts! Vegas has 40% off and 50% off on different days. Do something special for your customers. Doing 10% only, is just being CHEEP! read more

I was just looking for a thrift store to try while I was visiting in San Diego and came here after reading the reviews and seeing some awesome finds from other Yelpers. I went in not thinking I would need a cart, but after the first two racks I discovered that I would be needing a cart, or end up having to lug around an arm full of finds. Walking around the store I found that it was pretty organized, clean, and stocked full of fun items to go through. I ended up finding a few tops, a couple bottoms, and a few other miscellaneous items for under $25. I liked this location because it had a lot of different items that I found, you don't have to dig through things (things aren't stacked on top of each other like crazy), the people are nice, and it's located around a bunch of other stores (Big Lots right next door). read more

We are constantly purging things we don't need in our house and had a large truck load to bring in last weekend. The staff there is always very friendly, very helpful, and asks us right away if we want a receipt. If you are going to donate any of your stuff I highly recommend this location since it's the best of any of the thrift stores in the local area I've been to. It's easy to pull your vehicle right around the back and drop everything off in the big bins they have available. The staff will help you unload and you can just leave your stuff, fill out your receipt, and be on your way! It's a good feeling to be able to provide two places like this! read more

I like this thrift store but today they lost by business. I brought in a covered coffee I had just bought at brew (awesome place). And a lady chased me down and said there was a sign that no drinks were allowed . I walked out and went across the street to Ross where I might pay a few dollars more but can enjoy my drink before it melts. It's Goodwill's right to make a rule but I have the choice to not shop there. I can walk into Nordstrom with a drink and not get yelled at. It's the last thing I expected at a thrift store. If anyone from Goodwill management reads this please consider changing your drink policy. read more

Good store for random finds but it's a joke you can't bring a coffee in from next door! They asked me to leave and I was hoping to browse through on a chilly afternoon with my fresh cup o joe. It's a thrift shop lol!!! Nordstrom allows customers to walk around with a coffee or beverage yet the Goodwill doesn't?!! Come on guys, lighten up. We are all adults here. I was turned off and left.
