Goodwill was founded in 1902 by Boston Minister, Reverend Edgar J. Helms. He took donations from wealthy Bostonians and hired people who were poor and who could fix the items. The items were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out." Goodwill Industries of Central Florida started in 1959. Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. I popped into this Goodwill because it was next to another thrift store I was visiting, Teen Challenge Super Thrift. This Goodwill is really large and well maintained. You can tell that the people who work here take pride in the store. Clothes were being straightened all over the store. Besides clothes they also sell accessories, furniture, toys, sports equipment, small appliances, books, and house hold goods. There were some very nice pieces of furniture reasonably priced and some cute home items. I was just passing through but if I lived closer, this would be a regular thrifting stop. read more

Goodwill have you forgotten your values? You receive your commodities for FREE. I realize you have overhead but your prices have gone absolutely CRAZY!!! I mean pricing a basic Walmart brand coffee cup for 4.99 for example? As a business owner myself I believe you have exceeded affordable goods in an effort to make more & more money. I also know how you PULL THE COLORED SALE ITEMS BEFORE THE SALE. Why? This is despicable. We've been customers of this Goodwill location for a few years now. I haven't really bought too much from this store but it's always nice to find a deal when we do. We usually look for clothing we can modify into costumes for Halloween and other occasions. Other times we shop to find replacement household items or tchotchke's for the holiday season. I'm not a fan of this Goodwill and have had problems many times. One of the worst experiences was when I bought a dress that they would not let me try on and when I got it home I realized that the zipper was broken. They would not let me return it for credit towards something else. This was not a cheap dress it was overpriced in the first place so I wasn't interested in having to pay to have it fixed. The quality of a lot of things is awful and overpriced. Also there are much more reputable charities to donate to and spend my money. read more

This location is a decent representative for the franchise. The store is clean and well-maintained; with a nice variety of items to explore and browse. The staff we encountered were friendly and attentive. If one enjoys hunting for the "bargain", this establishment offers a solid opportunity. read more

I haven't been in very many Goodwill locations, so I'm not really sure what usually is and isn't there. We just moved to the area and I was in search of a couple of lamps. Saw this store driving by and we decided to stop. Right now, cheap lamps are better than no lamps for the next couple of months. While this location mostly has clothing - I would say about 85% of the store is clothing - I did find two lamps and only paid $12 and change. As many of you know, generally speaking, lampshades cost more than that, so I think I got a really good deal. One lamp is a smaller one that I needed for my nightstand and it is really cute and looks new; I may actually keep it for a while. The other lamp is a large one for the living room and there's nothing I like about it other than the light it puts out, It's pretty fugly and will not be in my living room very long - Goodwill will definitely be getting this lamp back. LOL I still think it's great that you can get something for a great price here to use even if it is only temporary, then you can give it back to help. The only interaction we had with employees here was the girl at the check-out. She was sweet and she was wearing her mask. There was also plexiglass at the register. I felt quite safe shopping here during this COVID pandemic. read more

This Goodwill is a Scam. They get free donations and are not really helping out their community back. Their prices are ridiculously over priced. Dont even bother. I recently visited Marietta GA Goodwill and was pleasantly surprised at how cheap their prices are and that they actually have items available for half price and also do a Green Ticket item for $0.99 that you could actually find a huge selection of. Sanford, FL goodwill never has the color ticket items half price items available. There might be one in a whole row and in horrible conditions. Most pieces range from $10 on up. You can find better prices in Ross, Marshalls and TJ Max. I feel like some Corporate Goodwill investigation needs to take place. read more

This location receives good donations but the prices are more than TJ maxx or Marshall's. I have found things that I like but I put them back because I cannot fathom paying that much for used items. Today I found a very used Lilly Pulitzer dress with a stain on the from listed for $49.99.... That's crazy! They receive free donations and then mark the prices up above retail. A brand new dress by the same brand is at goodwill for $79.99 and at TJ maxx for $40. They do have 50% off certain color tags but it's still too expensive. read more

The Goodwill W Sanford FL store was one of the greatest stores I ever worked at. I really wanted to stay there for a long time. I met a lot of great people there that worked and shopped there. I made a lot of money there because I was full time. I was going to buy a car and having a place of my own while I was working there. But I didn't had the time and patience to do it. Everyone I knew, liked, and loved were all there throughout my tenure there. We had great bosses like Angela, Katelyn, and Jessica We were all doing great until Jennifer came along ruined it. She has been the worst manager we ever had. Everyone left because of her including me. We were all doing our best to keep up with our jobs there. Jennifer has a nasty attitude and personality. That's what makes people leave there. She needs to be fired and we need to do something to get her outta there before she causes more trouble there by getting rid of more people and ruining the place even more. My friend Clara was the last person I knew from working there with me and all of great staff and friends. I liked her a lot along with all of my great friends and staff. She did a great job and I want to thank her for that and for her and everyone else that I knew, liked, and loved to be there and worked with me there and for everything that we did together as a great team and great friends and family. read more

I recently went to this store and found some really cute items, it was late at night and the two Hispanic women were already cleaning up getting ready to close, I bought my items and left and since I was unable to try them on, one the Spanish ladies on Thursday September 12th had told me I could return them if anything to just bring the receipt. On Saturday I had brought back 2 out of the 10 outfits I bought so that I could return them, but when I got to the front on Saturday afternoon the white woman at the front had told me I needed not only the receipt but also the paper tags ? Also no return only exchange? Could someone please tell me if this is correct? Because I went back today and there were all different cashiers but somehow this woman ended up back at the register when I was cashing out today AGAIN (very fishy) and instead of handing me my receipt she put it under the register... I waited and called her out, she played coy saying maybe I put it in my purse but then magically "found" my receipt underneath the register where she had put it. She has a very nasty attitude and I hate to stop showing up just due to her rudeness while everyone else there seems to actually enjoy their jobs.. read more

Goodwill has become way overpriced on their FREE donations from the public. I repeatedly see retail store prices that are lower than what Goodwill charges. Very disappointed in the company and I don't recommend. read more

I'm no tree hugging evangelist but I do like to reuse, repurpose, and recycle whenever and wherever I can. There's just some stuff that's better used. Before eBay, craigslist, letgo, offerup, and all the others, thrift stores were bargains. Not like garage sales, but bargains. Fast forward twenty years, prices are all over the board, loosely matched with aforementioned pricing. Because they don't want customers flipping their goods they end up charging sometimes unconscionable prices for things that were given freely, or err...for tax deductions. Makes me so mad to see them charging seven/eight bucks for worn out shoes. I don't need used shoes, but to someone who does, that's ridiculous for something that should've been thrown away. I don't know, maybe I'm out of touch with pricing. They've got the best business model ever. Free cost of goods. Low overheads. Non profit tax breaks and benefits. Awesome executive compensation!!! Nevertheless, you'll score here from time to time. I don't like to share a honey hole, but this one's a good one occasionally. Customer service and hospitality are poor. I went here recently for a search for a few specific books I was looking for. The store appeared well organized and I was able to find what I was looking for. The staff was very friendly and opened up an extra register so I could checkout even quicker. Customers seemed to be wearing masks inside this store and the store seemed logically organized. If you are looking for good deals, this could be an excellent opportunity. I wish Good Will had an alphabetical system for their books, that is the one thing that made it a bit challenging. read more

Went to the Sanford Goodwill today (2/06/23). Prices were way too high for donated goods. In fact, my wife showed me a brand new blouse that had a sales tag on it from T. J. Max. The blouse had been marked down to $5.00 at T.J. Max . However, the Goodwill price tag was $16.99. When my wife pointed out the two different tags to a salesperson, the girl said that they go by the Goodwill tag. The men's golf shirts are only a few dollars less than brand new shirts at Bealls Outlets. read more

I dropped off some cloths and books and the young man that was there did not offer any help or ask if I needed a receipt and he did not speak at all. He dumped the books in a large outside bin and broke some of the books. The cloths were also dumped in an outside bin that was exposed to the weather. There were a lot of items laying all over the drop off site, seem like they didn't have enough staff and none that cared what happened to the items. People drop off free items for them to make a huge profit you would think they would be appreciative. I will not be dropping off anything more at this location or any Goodwill from now on. May I suggest the Salvation Army store on 436 in Casselberry. They are always appreciative and the drop off site is always clean and the staff always thank you. read more

I would never recommend the castle rock location. There is an employee stealing wares from the donation point in the drive through. They took dresses and mens clothing. I'm livid and other things were taken not intended for goodwill. The items taken were a retail value of hundreds of dollars and I'm never going to see them again because they did not return my call and I spent about thirty minutes digging through the shoe donation. Nothing. How can they allow this to happen. I take the time and gas to bring things in and an employee steals them? No cool... not cool at all. read more

The prices are too high. Ross TJ Maxx Marshalls all have better prices esp. If they are on sale. Today I had 2 pr of drawstring waist linen/cotton pants. One was $4.19, one $6.99. I called it to their attention and was finally told after waiting 10 minutes that they were different brands. Well duh. When did Goodwill start charging by the brand names??? It used to be slacks one price, jeans another, and capris another price. Fair. I notice the store is nearly empty. Two doors down is a Christian thrift store totally packed with nice things and lots of customers. Go figure... read more

Friendly staff, the store was extremely organized and it had a pleasant smell unlike most thrift stores! The clothes were a little messy but that is normal when people search through the clothes it takes then half way off the hanger. I always fix them as I go. The prices are higher than some locations in the area but they have a 50% off sale for a specific color each week! I would visit this location again. read more

One of my family members passed away this week and we have been sorting through her belongings to donate. It's a difficult process, emotionally and physically. After an intense week, I brought the items to this goodwill to donate. It was difficult to do so, but important. The young man that came out to receive the items did not say a word to me. No smile, no greeting, no thank you. He did not offer to help, while he watched me struggle to lift some of the heavy boxes. I pushed a box closer to him assuming he would do the morally acceptable thing and offer to help, but he did not. He stood there and watched me load all of it myself on his yellow bin which he held. I was so upset. He had no idea I was grieving but that was enough to push me over the edge and I cried the whole drive home. He could have made a difference by having some sort of customer service but he had none. No social skills, no gratitude, no positive encounter. I wish I could take all her things back and give them to some place else. read more

My advice to all is that yes, some clothes here are not the best, however sometimes you can find some shirts in good condition. If you are on a low spending budget in the area of clothes, then I would recommend this store. Be sure to try on the clothing before you purchase it, because they only allow exchanges; no money back. However, I just read some discouraging information about how much of the money I spend is actually going as a donation and the founder of this charity is paying himself a hefty salary a year while all employees are volunteers. Staff is not too friendly. People working there will push around and in front of you to hang things on racks, which I find really odd. On my most recent visit, I bought a few items, (under $20 total). One item was a women's skirt that I selected from a rack marked $3.89. When I got to the register to pay the kind of snarky lady ringing me up said "this has a special tag on it and no price, I'll have to get a price for you" Whaaat? She scooted off before I could tell her I wasn't interested and she returned to let me know I could have that skirt for the bargain price of $6.99! Whaat? I told her I didn't want it at that price so she finished ringing me up. Well, I returned another day because I wanted to check out the "special tags". They do have tags that are lavender in color, with prices stamped on them or written on them and a magic marker slashed across the price. Well maybe the magic markers are color coded, I don't know. What I do know is that I found several of the "special lavender color tags" that were attached to clothing but they had no price written or stamped on them. I KNOW the tag on the skirt I was looking at was NOT priced. Now this is a very small item with a small price ~ still it's a scam. My opinion, is that the store is not quite open and honest about their pricing, they size up the customer and if they think they can get a few more bucks from someone they will try it ~ and I very much dis-like that. One day they were running a 50% off sale on furniture (manager special at this store) but several items were not priced. Another scam? Shop here but pay attention to how they ring up your items.
