This Goodwill is located next to Highway 71 inside a strip center of several other businesses. This is one of the newer, more spacious Goodwill's that have been built in recent years. As usual, about 75% of the floor space is given over to clothing with seven very short aisles given over to everything else. The back wall features, toys, books, music, pictures, and electronics. Convenient drop off drive through. Helpful staff ready able and willing to help. Regular auctions for valuables art and collectible stuff. They have a huge selection that changes with time. Can't beat the value. Store is clean and not overcrowded with stuff. Good value for money spent. read more

Lately the variety has not been equal to the pricing. So many times; items have been quite worn, tattered or should be junked and the prices have been way too high. The location is great, staff is fairly friendly, but these prices do not balance for the community...seems more and more Austin or Houston pricing on inventory. If this continues as a trend; then going back to mainstream retail stores is more acceptable to pay with same pricing. Repurpose/reuse/recycle us quickly deteriorating since goodwill pricing is almost same as regular retail stores...we have always shopped often (since ole location) because it was in our budget many years back, but now Bastrop is turning into "California " prices. read more

For a thrift store they are the most expensive I've shopped at. The carts had hair wrapped around the wheels and the cart itself wasn't very clean. They had a decent selection but again I've personally shopped at better thrift stores. However, I wasn't thrilled with the little interaction I had with the staff. I was trying on a pair of pants and had brought the cart in with me since I had my son and it's so much easier to leave him in the cart. The dressing room was definitely big enough. However there was a knock on the door and someone telling me I couldn't have the cart in there. When I got done I looked all over and didn't see a sign. I said to one of the employees, where's the sign that carts aren't allowed. She said there wasn't one. I said well it would be nice to have sign, how was I supposed to know otherwise. She agreed and said "it wasn't me that knocked on your door". Definitely could improve their customer service. read more

A few weeks back my brother and I went in to the Bastrop Goodwill, He didn't have a mask and I did, I wore it the entire time I was shopping. I got to the front of the store and moved my mask to my forehead(the checkers were behind plexy glass). My brother was checking out at one station, I was at another, the clerk looked over at me (with my face mask on my forehead) and told my maskless brother "That Lady should put a mask on". Not a word to him about not having one at all. The following week we went to Bastrop Goodwill, I decided I wouldn't wear a mask(since it was okay for my brother). I was in the store for all of 10 minutes and Vanita(long blonde hair) came up to me, got up in my face close enough to whisper "You're going to need to put your mask on", no biggie that her mask was below her nose and she was NOT 6 feet away(social distancing is important you know). She found my brother wandering around and told him he'd have to put a mask on. He explained his Doctor told him he shouldn't wear one with his asthma, she proceeded to ask him for his Dr's note (against HIPAA laws to even ask for it), she then walked around mumbling about his note and his condition. When we got to the front to check out, the clerk that was checking me out started in on the masks, she told me"It's a law you have to wear them" I said "No it's an ordinance which is far different then a law". Vanita (I'm not sure that's her name, it's something like that) was checking out a couple and was standing there talking about my brother and I, at one point she walked past where we were standing and said over her shoulder "This always happens with Trump people" (I had my Trump/Pence 2020 shirt on) and then went back to checking out her customers. I explained to the lady checking me out, rape victims many times are unable to wear a mask, so her callous response was "I don't understand what you're saying". I further explained many times during rape the victim is muffled from screaming so having things over their faces brings back that trauma. She then went on to explain that an employee there was raped and she wears her mask anyways. We got done checking out and I realized for the FIRST time I wasn't asked to round up for the school program GOODWILL sponsors. So I told clerk that, she told me "She didn't want all that from me". So bullying, gossiping and horrible customer service is what GOODWILL has to offer now? I spend money in that store every week, I've rounded up EVERY TIME they asked me but since I wouldn't comply or be bullied into submission my money isn't good enough? To add insult to injury, when I brought my cart back into the store both women were standing there talking garbage to another set of customers about my brother and I. I did try to resolve this by calling the manager Kamala, after the 4 or 5th time of ONLY getting her voice mail I decided to go this route and let others know. Their business is mainly based on donations and the generosity of others. Many times I've dropped things at their location. completely incompetent and disorganized staff. I had won an in-store auction, so the manager called me but i had missed the call. when i called back, the woman who answered cut me off as i was explaining why i was calling. then she sent me to the wrong line. I called back again and told her what she did. I told her i missed and call from a "Ron" so she connected me with him. when he answered i explained that i had missed a call from him. he kept asking me "how did you get this number?" and i told him that i was just transferred to him. apparently she had transferred me to his personal cell phone. I just don't understand what kind of incompetent people work here. every interaction I've had with an employee has been less than great. they are always rude and look like they hate their job. also everything is completely over-priced. store is clean inside that's about the only positive thing about this place.. read more

Charge to much for donated items , almost like shopping at Walmart ! they could work with you on prices...some are way to high. Managers could act more happy to help you instead of mad because they had to show up to work. Register people are very nice and even agree about the prices. And the new no refund policy not right...they will only give store credit ...nothing back to your card or cash...it's their way of saying we are keeping your money ! Nice place seems to be kept clean and customer service is ok. Other than that it's like any other Goodwill. Nothing stands out. If Goodwill makes things stand out more and really offer their associates something to work towards, they would boom again. Let's look towards making better deals for new customers. This review is mostly specific to the electronics that they sell and customer service resolution. Electronics are mostly over-priced and untested. Refunds are not issued for broken electronics, only store credit. Be careful when purchasing electronics from Goodwill, as it seems to be a place where people drop off their broken items. Management is unhelpful to resolve issues, they do not treat their customers well, moreover, it would seem that they don't even like their customers. This organization as a whole grossed $5.9 Billion in revenue for fiscal year 2017 according to Forbes; most of which is obtained by the sale of donated, substandard, broken goods that they didn't pay to obtain. I recommend shopping at and supporting smaller charities and second-hand shops. read more

The store is cleaner than most Goodwills and the good ends there. It is overpriced.... their stuff is donated and they want A LOT for it. I saw a set of used curtains they priced it at $7.99 and you can buy it at Walmart for $10.00 new. I saw a Christmas Santa you can purchase at Savers for $7.00 new and they wanted $5.00 used. That is just a few examples of the obnoxious prices, this repeated throughout the store. What a joke. The managers are rude. I will never go back. This place is ok. Prices are mid - high for a thrift store. They carry a large selection and I've found great stuff but it could use a bit more organization, especially in the kids clothing area. Pants, shorts, boys, girls, skirts, etc seem to always be a huge mix making it take a long time to sort through and find what you're looking for. The other areas are fairly organized though. The staff is always friendly but service could be a bit better. I've only been there once that there was someone at the counter when I walked up, that was paying attention to customers without answering the phone or talking to another employee while you wait to check out.
