There is a rude lady at this store who is thin has dark long hair in a braided ponytail, no name tag, and usually is in front of cash register. She never smiles and isn't helpful at all. So I ask about the store manager who I know. She told me she doesn't see her much. She shouldn't be in customer service. Her attitude sucks. I rarely go to this store because of the lack of customer service. read more

Not a bad Goodwill for Monterey. I was sad because their blazer area was $10.25, they didn't have them any cheaper. So that was a financial bummer in my mind. The selection over all was ok, nothing spectacular, as I had hoped. You know living in Monterey doesn't come cheap, hint, people donate your good stuff! I been going here for years haven't stop by in a while so decided to go with my toddler who's 3 and loves to find toys and my husband and sister some rude lady that wasn't even a manager went up to my son and told him to stop running . I just want to say he wasn't running if he was by our side close enough to be by us he wasn't loud and wasn't screaming like other kids usually behave , he was respectful and he even got sad and asked us why she told him that? Shes not noone to tell my son how to behave hes 3 years old I hope it made u feel better cause I'm not haveing that ever agian lucky we were in public smh. read more

Monterey, ca Lighthouse Goodwill, I can just say worse staff and management. I don't know why they keep two of their staff outside to just look at us and playing with their cellphone? two man/women are outside to receive donated items from people but they just stay and ask us to do their job. If they don't feel safe why goodwill keep them? why goodwill pay to this two staffs? Actually,People can put all their items in the cart and every two hours some can come and just put them inside. I think they have to pay to the people who want to work not these kind of staff. read more

I went today and left with a vintage squash racquest by accident but it's okay because I met a lovely lady in line (there was something wrong with the cash register - computer screen froze so we were there for a little longer thatn we should have) and we got on the subject of tennis. She mentioned how she started or is involved in an NPO called Quickstart... she gave me her business card and I hope to keep in touch with her about mine and maybe she can give me a few pointers. I am only reviewing based on housewares which are pretty non-existent. A lot of 'what' is there is damaged. It seems as if this GW skims off anything of value and puts it in the window for online auction. Kinda frustrating and not really thrift in my humble opinion. This store appears to be under new management and everyone was super happy and appreciative. It is well organized and while I wouldn't say it's "clean," it is as clean as they can make it given what they have to work with. It was refreshing to see such happy, encouraging employees. It made all the customers happier just seeing how happy the employees were! And we scored on a few great finds! read more

This Goodwill was pretty meh. I prefer the one in Seaside as it is much better organized. Also, their credit card machine was very slow. However, I did find a women's North Face Denali vest and a Tripp corset top here, so there are some decent finds if you're willing to take the time to dig through EVERYTHING. read more

Good place to give and a good place to pick up household items without the crazy retail markup. The staff are friendly and you can't beat the value, while most of the stuff is second hand... there are some treasure if you look hard enough. I recommend this location. read more

I love this Goodwill because it is smaller and easier to comb through. I have found so many great treasures here including a very nice media center for my house that was only $40 compared to $200 retail. I also found a great $150 women's golf jacket for my grandma that still had the tags on it and was only $20. The staff is always in a good mood and helpful too. read more

Really organized and clean. The staff were very nice. I got a new pair of Ralph Lauren sandal heels and Adidas sports bra. My boyfriend got some creative shoes for $15 , plus A pair a new corduroy pants. read more

This place is soo cheap compared to the Goodwills I normally visit-- I have to give an extra star for that. I got some very cute clothes and interesting books. The shoes, men, kids, and homegood selection is small. They did have 1/2 price colored tags and I didn't observe kids's clothes mixed with adults sizes any more than you'd expect from shoppers moving stuff around, it didn't seem intentionally messy at all. read more

Wow - I'm surprised by such low ratings, which makes me wonder if Monterey is awash in better thrift shops. I didn't have time to comb through the clothes, concentrating instead on my go-to sections: housewares, books and shoes. Some of my finds - a NordicWare tray of mini bundt cake forms for $2.25, stacking resin mixing bowls - the kind normally carried by Whole Foods - for $3.25, and black DKNY shoes made in Italy for $4.99. My daughter picked up two wigs made in Japan of real hair in the center table for Halloween costumes - these were the most expensive items. But I'm still trembling over what is undoubtedly my best find ever in a thrift shop ... an unused Mulberry planner with lined paper and the PVC-covered address book insert for $2.25. Yes, you read that right. Something that retails for about $550 was stacked on the bottom shelf among the photo albums and binders - either shoved there by someone who had no clue, or hidden by someone who knew all too well. The Goodwill gods smiled on me that day. read more

I have recommended many tourists drop in here to buy a cheap sweater or jacket because they visit Monterey expecting summer weather.

they have an auction now for some of the nicer items which is just really crazy, books are fair. they reorganized the store so things seem more expensive. read more
