Horrible customer service!! As soon as we walked in, the vibe was super eerie and unwelcoming. My boyfriend said hi to the lady working there and she completely ignored him and didn't acknowledge us. We looked around for a bit but I'm pretty sure someone was following us while we were browsing, super creepy. The lady also gave my boyfriend weird looks and came across very rude. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. You're better off going to goodwill or Vintage Finds across the street. We ended up going there right after and they were super nice and welcoming. read more

My 2 nieces and I visited this shop yesterday and it's definitely the best vintage shop in Monterey County. The selection is amazing and everything is truly vintage. One of the best vintage store's I have ever been to in my life!!!!! Have no idea why anyone..... would think this store is overpriced. ....Confused....I have been shopping vintage since I was 15 years old and this store, has so many treasures in it. The owner dry-cleans the clothing or hand-washes the items before she displays them in the store.. which is why there is no smell in the boutique. Clothing is in impeccable condition. But should still be worn like a lady so you don't thrash it in a drunken stupor. Act like Jackie Kennedy and you will do just fine. Delicate of-course but shockingly in the best shape for being 70 years old plus!! My dresses look like they were created yesterday. Resilient!!!!!!In other stores, I typically would have to dig in a sea of junk before finding one quality vintage piece thats not even in excellent condition compared to Reincarnation Clothing. I have a appreciation for having a unique piece that no one else has. I have not the slightest fear for investing in something unique and having it un-returnable. Buying an item here, I know I will show up to whatever special event and be the only girl wearing that dress. This is not for the fast fashioned mind set. I'd say avoid this place at ALL costs. As soon as my fiancée and I walked in, the owner (short, ratty blonde hair, over all disgruntled looking) quickly came in behind us and slammed the door shut. She then walked into the room we were in to turn on a light, and asked if she could help us find anything, to which we replied 'No'. We perused the store a little more, and when we decided to leave, we said 'Thank you, goodbye' and we were ignored blatantly. The owner then SPRINTED back to the rooms we were in to make sure we didn't steal anything. The place gives off a horrible vibe, and the owner is very off putting. read more

I should have read the other reviews before coming here. I hate leaving bad reviews but this one was earned! The store owner was so pushy and rude, If you don't like being followed around and having someone aggressively try to sell to you, don't even bother looking. There are a lot of items packed in this shop but it's very overpriced for the quality. I tried on a skirt and the owner was trying to get me to try on other items. The owner was offering to sew on an extra button for me (a nice gesture) but I just didn't love the skirt so I passed on it and thanked her. She asked if I was going to buy the skirt and I told her no thank you and she replied with "of course not." and pushed past me. Haha really? I walked in with a huge shopping bag from another vintage store (vintage finds down the street, definitely check it out) so I definitely had the intention of shopping. Takes a very miserable person to judge others like that especially when you're trying to sell. Hope the petty owner gets help because happy people don't act that way! read more

I was very excited when I saw this store passing by. I finally got the chance to check it out and walked into time capsule. What amazing pieces of clothing all around you. I would have definitely been in that store for at least an hour trying on things and purchasing treasures. But the lady behind the counter was very rude and did not want to waste her time talking to me. I didn't even want to give this store one star !! The moment we walked into this used clothing store, we got a really bad vibe. The lady ,who we assume is the owner ,she's probably late 70s. She was smoking right at the door when we got there. She's about 5 feet tall. Blonde fried hair ,was very aggressive. She mumbled hateful things under her breath a lot ,she was shoving dresses at my 18-year-old daughter telling her she'd give us a discount on a dress if we buy jewelry with it .., we believe her name is Nancy, she had asked us if my daughter was going to get any of the three dresses that she tried on ,she said, "I think I'm gonna keep looking." The lady pushed her out of the way to grab the dresses that she had tried on, then stopped us in the hall and said "really" and put her hand on her hips, so annoyed that we did not buy a $130.00 dress that was not worth more than I would say $30 at the most. She was really nasty and I am going to make sure that everyone I know knows that that lady is very rude, she should not be running a business. extremely hateful, and very unprofessional! My girlfriend and I came in here as we were exploring around town and literally within seconds after entering the store, we already felt uncomfortable. The store owner did not bother speaking with either one of us and when we said "thank you" upon leaving, all we heard was silence. I can validate what Paige T. has stated because I think I was the customer right behind her. We tried opening the door and it seemed locked, the owner gruffly opened it and sneered "it was stuck" turned about face without a hello. The owner smoking outside talking to herself. We could feel her so annoyed that the previous customer left without buying anything. I looked at some earrings and now we are feeling very uneasy to even try anything on, when I said "I'll think about it" she lowered the price over and over and I said well, I don't know, "I'm going to think about it " and we want to politely leave and all we could hear is her mockingly repeating " I'll think about it, I'll think about it..." imitating me over and over out loud. She slammed the door behind us, we get a few steps down the street when we hear very loud shrieks coming from her store. She's screaming inside the empty store. What a delight! Nancy and her shop are a gem in Pacific Grove, California. She is an expert in vintage fashion, and extremely helpful if you're seeking help. She's a straight forward, no nonsense shop owner who is an asset in her field. My daughter and I came in today looking to find her vintage style and Nancy was more than we could have ever asked for. The clothes and accessories in her shop are in excellent condition wonderful quality. Nancy is also a jewelry designer and has some of her lovely pieces on display at the counter. Having grown up in Europe and lived in Los Angeles, I have shopped at some fantastic vintage shops. However now being in Monterey, I was very excited to find out about Reincarnation through a friend, and headed over to check it out as soon as I had an opportunity. The owner Nancy is awesome and is very helpful in finding the perfect thing for you. She has developed a fantastic collection and there is certainly nothing like it on the Peninsula. Just a few of the amazing pieces I have found include: A stunning black velvet dress from the early 30's, which fits so perfectly it is almost as though it was made just for me. A teal sequined 80's dress with great shoulder pads A beautiful 20's sequined dress A 50's black lace dress with matching cropped jacket that fits like a glove. A great military inspired boyfriend blazer. Two vintage hat boxes that I love so on and so forth. I'm addicted. And plus there is a huge parking lot directly across from the cute little shop, so you never have to worry about parking! Went in with some family members, quite prepared to drop some cash (we spend a ton on vintage items!). As we entered, we saw the owner and said hello - no reply. Thinking she did not hear us, we then asked "How are you today?" She shrugs with a look that could have killed. It was then that I recalled this person as having been equally unpleasant when I'd visited approximately 6 years prior...whatever. So we just went about our business of browsing. As we moved about the room, she very aggressively followed behind, straightening the items we'd previously touched and eventually asking us curtly, "Can I help you find something?" We stayed a moment longer, said thank you and left, but not before she mutters under her breath, "Good! Get the f*ck out!" Suffice to say, none of us will ever darken her door again and will urge others to do the same.' read more

Since most of the thrift shops and consignment stores in Pacific Grove cater to the 50 and over, reincarnation is a nice happy medium to get your vintage fix as well as to find really unique and cute pieces. I came to days in a row; the first day I was doing laundry and was in a bit of a rush and just wanted to browse around. I need to get an outfit or a dress for a bridal shower I was attending and had unsuccessfully not found anything at Marshall's or Macy's. When I purchased and I saw her variety of come monos that were absolutely gorgeous. I found one that I really liked and that was in my price range and had my ion it. The next day I went back with the intention to buy the kimono as a jacket or accessory piece to address. I tried it on and she suggested a slim black dress that paired well with it. I actually ended up really liking the slim black dress and thought it looked really elegant and nice for brunch. Then she found another teal piece from the 80s that actually ended up looking way better. Although it was a little bit more than I initially intended to spend, I'm really excited about both pieces. Sometimes when it comes to really nice clothes, you have to pull the trigger and say F it, if it makes you happy. Nancy has a great eye and I was really pleased with the ensemble she came up with. While vintage clothes may tend to be a little more pricey, you're paying for the quality of the product since it lasts so long and it's something you simply can't find any longer. Plus I know no one's going to look like me at this bridal shower! This is probably the only vintage store in the area with such quality products. If you're a vintage clothes aficionado, I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

I love this place! Josie Poodle loves this place! Owner Nancy Holland rocks. Josie and I ventured into this vintage shop one afternoon and left with a 40's dress, 30's pin, skirt and tons of puppy training advice. Nancy was the best shop owner I have ever encountered. She knew her stuff and was honest enough to tell you the truth on whether a dress worked on you or not. I wear larger sizes (14+) and she tore the place apart looking for stuff and she had plenty for me. While trying stuff on, she graciously held Josie. I could hear her cooing and talking baby talk. She knows about dogs, too. Her older pooch hides under the skirted front table and barks as you enter. Cute. In addition to my goods, I walked away with tips on how to help Josie be less frightened of strangers. She did love her Aunt Nancy...and so did I! read more

I thought it might be personal. Guess not... On the one hand, the store has great vintage finds, but unfortunately they are mostly overpriced. I moved to P.G. several months back and once I saw this place and couldn't wait to have a chance to take a look. Well, yesterday I had a chance while my mister took our little one on an adventure of her own and I was able to have a day date on the town with ME. So let me just say this store has some beautiful frocks, a bit overpriced compared to some other vintage shops I've been, but beautiful none the less! However, just like a MAJORITY of costumers who had negative reviews, I felt the owner's negativity! She didn't welcome me into her store, she took clothes away that she knew wouldn't fit me, and was way more concerned with these other customers there to sell some of their jewelry to her. In fact, those ladies were much nicer than she was by a long shot and they are just costumers too! Needless to say, I had high hopes for this place and they got crushed within the first 10mins of walking into that shop! It really put a gray lining over the rest of my day! I love Reincarnation-this is a beautifully cuerated vintage boutique that never disappoints with incredible prices-I have accumulated so many treasures from this store and never leave empty handed when I visit. I purchased my first vintage item from the owner Nancy when I was in high school over 23 years ago and now I shop there with my 15 year old daughter. We have a shared love of vintage clothes and always leave with piles of incredible finds. The prices here could be much higher and unlike most vintage stores, you do not need to dig through mountains of garbage-every piece in a Reincarnation is thoughtfully selected and presented. I have been a long time customer of Reincarnation for decades and appreciate the charming Victorian space, the wonderful selection of clothes and friendly prices. As a vintage clothing aficionado I can tell you that the selection at this shop is exquisite and the prices are quite reasonable. The owner has quite an eye. I purchased a black 1930s silk velvet gown in excellent condition for under $150. Check etsy and you will know how reasonable this is. She also has had some LilliAnn suits. Needless to say, I am a repeat shopper and the owner Nancy has gotten to know my style and the types of pieces I generally prefer. Nancy has always been polite to me. She has helpful suggestions ans does her best to pull pieces she thinks i will appreciate but is also respectful when I try something on and tell her "I'm not feeling it." Note: I think it is easy (especially in this economy) for small business owners to become cranky when people spend a lot time in their business looking (and handling and potentially damaging the goods--which is a distinct reality with vintage clothes that DO NOT stretch when they are tried on) but not necessarily buying, so do take the other reviews about the owners demeanor with a grain of salt. I laughed when I saw the review about the dog--The owner fosters dogs that are up for adoption at Animal Friends Rescue Project, which I think is awesome :-) Bottom line, if you are an upfront customer and understand vintage clothing you will have a good experience here. read more

When clothes good clothes die, they don't go to heaven- they go to Reincarnation. I stumbled in here earlier today on a quest for a 50's inspired frock and was pleased to see that this is the real deal. The store is what my dream closet would be; gorgeous vintage dresses and suits line the walls in multiple rooms; I was content to longingly stare into a case of fabulous jewelry in the front of the store for literal minutes. The owner was incredibly attentive and helpful, so I'm not sure where the negative reviews are coming from; I guess some people are really boring and can't handle a little sass. When I arrived, she was helping another woman put together a vampire outfit for Halloween piece by piece, and she took the time to root through the store's stock, even going into the back room, to help me find some dresses that actually would be able to contain my disproportionately giant ass. Unfortunately, I couldn't make any purchases today, as the dress that fit my needs didn't fit me. I'm on a tight budget without room for recreational shopping, and the prices here are a little steep for my ramen and tuna budget (50-100 for a dress, all of the sale items I saw were in the 30-50 range), but I'm sure that you get what to pay for since the pieces are genuinely vintage and in great shape. Should I ever write that best seller or strike oil (or manage to swing a well-paying full-time job in Recessionland), I'm going to be doing all of my shopping here. read more

I could sift through this store for hours. They have gorgeous vintage pieces that are true things of beauty. It's a type of collection you rarely see. Every time I'm in PG I make it a point to stop by this adorable (hidden) vintage shop. It's just one block off Lighthouse, but can be easily missed with all the charming shops lining the main road. If you are luck enough to take a chance and turn up the street towards Reincarnation, you will find a hidden gem sitting in an old Victorian house. Walking up the stairs to the front door you know you're in for something special. It's a bit like a maze with little rooms cutout and merchandise scattered throughout the charming house. The store owner is very helpful and sweet, she gets a lot of her stuff from estate sales. I think she even designs clothes on the side which you can find in the back room. My fave part is deff. the dresses! OMG I walked away with a fun pink frock from the fifties and a more mod green and brown short-sleeve dress from the 60s. Don't skip the coat rack in the back where you can find gorgeous full length winter coats for under $75. The accessories up front are quite nice as well. Coveting the black vintage alligator purse I found ($350)...may have to go grab it before the holidays are over and I don't have an excuse to shop. The owner salesperson is a miserable human being who needs anger management courses! My mom and I went in browsing Found a dress to try on, she rudely came into the dressing room as older mom was trying on a dress. No privacy at all, my mom was embarrassed. She did not back off, persistent. The owner forced the dress on her, pinching my mom's skin. Once that ordeal over... My mom asked if there was extra material in the dress to widen it. The owner saw a defect and tore hem a bit to show "yes" there was extra material. She offered a 9 dollar discount. We said we'd think about it over lunch. She then got mean and ugly. I turned around and said," afterthought no, we are not coming back because of your attitude"! We walked out and heard her yelling ( she was by herself) Nextdoor store and restaurant also heard her ranting and turned heads towards her store. She's in need of mental health help &/or meds. Such a great location, what a waste that this woman has this shop. Never again will we set foot. read more

Four stars for the items One star for the friendliness of the shop owner. I came in wearing an authentic 1950s dress, repro shoes, vintage hair, etc etc. I was looking at their hats (lots of fascinators!) and gloves. The owner wasn't the friendliest and seemed bothered by my mother, sister, and me, but I'm not there to buy her friendliness- I'm there to buy vintage items. I'm surprised that she wasn't friendlier and trying to sell me items based on the fact that I an a vintage dresser. If a lady in 1950s getup came into my store, I would do my best to cater to their interests and show them items they might like. None of that here, but no harm done. To be fair, she did ask if there was anything I was looking for, and she did answer my questions. No "vintage" smells in here, nicely arranged, and lots of women's items from the late fifties to 60s, some small amount of 80s dresses. Might visit again when I'm in the area. read more
