This is the cleanest Goodwill I've been to in all the Bakersfield. But it is a Goodwill and the selection has gone down in the last couple of years for knick knacks but they have a great clothing section for both men and women if you're looking for something to to wear last minute try to go on the days where they have special tags at 50% off or it's not even worth the trip. I take my mother to this Goodwill weekly. The other day everything black was 50% off. They were packed inside with the checkout line snaking down the aisle. It's fun to go through once in a while you can find a really special trinket . I found a carnival glass dish for two dollars one time. They also had a nice selection of large area rugs. This location needs some new management because the service is SAD!! The prices are also just ridiculous now. I had clothing picked out having an idea what they would be priced as due to the signs with the prices on there and then once I get to the cash register they changed the prices on a whim!! $6 for a basic tank top you get for free is ridiculous!!! Also I noticed an elderly woman needed help taking things to her car and when an employee radio called for anyone to help all the employees around the store acted as if they didn't hear them as well as the MANAGER!! This place is way tooooo expensive for a thrift store. $19.00 for a pair of used "Donated Shoes" is ridiculous!!! This is the only GoodWill I know of that has shoes over $9.99. Another terrible Goodwill that is always a disaster inside and marks up clothes seemingly at random. They mark up crap like Chaps and Faded Glory. Old junky wrangler shirts are marked up to $12.99. What a joke. Goodwill you're getting your inventory for free and making profit hand over fist. I like going to second hand shops and this one I went to. It had alot of different things. I mean from school supplies,dishes, and of course clothing. What an array of outfits. Like Gowns to play clothes for men women and children. Also a good shoe section. Not what you imagine shoes there look like but nice shoes and I even bought some shoes. Not worn either. You can find dresses five to $10 really cute compared to like $100 a dress at all the other little vintage shops around was super happy to get two cute polkadot dresses for only 10 bucks! Ok I'm now a regular at goodwill stores and I've never been to this one and I was pleasantly surprised. It was very organized and clean. First when you walk in the carts are to your right and they have those long poles so you don't take them out of the store. That doesn't bother me but I hadn't seen that in a long time anywhere. Next they try to separate what they believe to be the higher end clothing and it is all at the right side of the store as you walk in. Actually I didn't find anything I was interested in and there is a designer jeans rack but it mostly consisted of jeans that still had tags on them. I don't think Mossimo jeans with tags are worth 8.99. But it is a very organized and clean store when it came to the clothing. I just took a quick peek at the housewares and it looked appealing but I was on a time schedule due to a hair appointment I will for sure make a trip back!! read more

I found that this goodwill was pretty organized. It is mostly full of clothes, so if that's what you're looking for then this is a spot for you. The employees here are probably the most friendly and approachable compared to the other locations I've been to. Things seem well organized compared to most goodwills I have visited. They also had quite a bit of toys/games and kitchen stuff. They didnt have what I was looking for on my particular visit, but there were some pretty tempting items. I was in a good mood when I went into this store, however, when I checked out, a young girl who was working the cash register was rude. She didn't acknowledge me when she rang up my merchandise, and she was talking to someone else instead of paying attention to my transaction. When I asked her a questio, she acted as if she didn't want to respond. She showed me very poor customer service. When I am back in the area, I would like to speak to a manager. I tried looking up the number on the website, but when I called the store, the recording said the number is no longer in service. I profess to be a Christian, yet her rudeness made me want to say something to her, but I did not want to make a scene. I will handle this professionally. read more

After reading some of these reviews I am still surprised how some people believe that they are getting ripped off from something at a secondhand store either you do not know how to shop or will never pay full price for an ordinary item. This location is clean and organized. The staff is amazing and super friendly. This location is the most tidy goodwill I seen in Bakersfield by far. Good work. read more

Every so often they switch managers and right now your better of going to a regular store and pay two dallors, less for a new item.

The staff at the drop off section is always very professional and polite. I drive out of my way to make my donations here. Great service!

i dont understand why they are so expensive, first of all its donated items for resale that dont cost them anything. so they are making a 100% profit from something that cost the nothing. i do understand that they have utilities and employees that by the way only make $minimum wage. told by employees to me and friends that work there. its so sad to me when kids are in the store and the parents say to them its to much. that is sad. read more

Buyer beware by goodwill asking a customer to show your id when using a credit card. its illegal. Read your credit card disclosure and look it up online. Its against the law. If they refuse a sale by you not showing a ID its illegal. Contact your credit card company to file a report to have this practice stopped. Better yet contact Goodwill about there practices. This location is not considered a thrift store in my eyes. It's more like a retail TARGET outlet store. Overpriced return and defective items from Target. Items that were sold much less in target are now sold at a higher price without a guarantee or allowed to be returned. Why is everyone thinking there getting a deal. Must be a BAKERSFIELD mentality. If you want to shop at a thift store there are many others in the area that have better bargains and have a real policy with out asking for IDs to purchase items and they do not rip off the blinded consumer. I can't say enough good about the Olive Drive GoodWill! I inadvertently dropped off a box containing wedding pictures and other memorabilia 4 days ago. I thought for sure it was gone! But a very nice employee wondered why anyone would donate those personal things and put them in the office. I called today on the off chance my box would still be there, even called the corporate office to see if it had been sent there. They were able to track down my box and called to let me know they had it! THANK YOU GoodWill! I'll continue to bring my donations to you! read more
