We hired Goodfellas for a large renovation of a 6-unit building in St. Louis City. While our bid was explicitly with Goodfellas, the Owner had negotiated a side deal with a subcontractor who claimed he could do the work cheaper. We gave Goodfellas a deposit of $25,000 to start the project. Goodfellas then paid the subcontractor who took the money and went unresponsive. We asked Goodfellas repeatedly to either perform the work or give us a refund. They refused to do either. Now we are not only out of pocket $25K with no results but are also several months behind schedule. We are not able to pay our loan to the bank who provided us the money and may have to default. Needless to say, we will not be working with Goodfellas or Ken Crumes (the Owner) ever again. read more

The first time I met him a pipe burst in the wall under our kitchen sink. What amazed me about the service call was that Tony came out within the hour, and it was not only on a Sunday, but it was Father's Day! He cut the drywall and replaced the affected pipe. Maybe it was a Father's Day gift to me, but he didn't charge extra to come out over the weekend. His work has always been excellent and his prices have always been fair and reasonable. This past week Tony and his wife replaced a faulty water shut-off valve in the basement. I actually enjoy both of them because we have several things in common, starting with kids and dogs. I'm having them return to fix a leaking bathtub faucet, that has plagued us for years. Tony Swoboda is my "go-to guy" for anything plumbing, but I found out recently he does other types of work as well. You can reach Tony at: (636) 866-7591

We got home from ER at 11 pm on New Year's Eve to find not only the toilet repaired but a new shower head installed in our other bathroom. I definitely recommend Tony Swobada.

This small company was a nightmare to work with. The owner, and the only person i met face to…read moreface, was the reason. They took cash as a 50% deposit before they would order the materials. But they couldn't give me a receipt as they were in a "new office". So I had a hand written receipt that i wrote out, as i didn't trust giving cash with a promise of an emailed receipt. The emailed receipt still hadn't arrived by Monday. I asked for a copy of the material order to be emailled. They couldn't provide that and never did. I then tried to cancel everything and he refused to send me a check and wanted to discount his expenses for his time and costs. and have me come to him as he wasn't going to mail it. I felt bullied by him. Not wanting to risk losing my money, I apologized for not trusting him, and we agreed to proceed. Materials were delivered on time. Start date was moved back. Twice. Next start date was set for Columbus day and the only person who showed up was a drone person and he asked if the job was completed to my satisfaction. (There was zero work started and four crates of materials sitting on the sidewalk.) This person was oblivious to his surroundings. Thank God we had Mexicans show up the next day to do the real work. They did most of it but left trash, limbs and 8 inch ruts in the yard where the trailer was. What they didn't leave was about a third of the over bought shingles. Not a single piece was left behind to patch something in the future. They also didn't touch an overhang after one of the crew fell through it. It needed to be replaced. SG asked me if I knew a carpenter who could fix it? Huh? He later wrote me an estimate that involved $600 in shingles. The same shingles that I had already paid for. No thanks. It then took him a week and several excuses before the three bundles of shingles that I had paid for were delivered to me for someone else to repair the overhang. Don't ever pay anyone in cash. Don't ever pay everything until the job is completed. There are companies out there that will do that.

However, we are about to list our home so we wanted to take care of it. We called Paul and he was able to come out quickly and give us an on-the-spot estimate. His price was honest and fair. He did one complete wall, living room ceiling, kitchen ceiling and a bedroom ceiling. Paul had an assistant for part of the day. They worked very clean and picked up after themselves. Everything was covered with a drop cloth. After they left I noticed a very very small spot that I didn't want to touch up myself, so the next day he came by and was out the door in 20 minutes and had it fixed.
