In December 2023 the "service engine soon" light came on in my Jayco motorhome (Chevy chassis) when…read morereturning from a long trip. The engine is the 8.1 L with 112,000 miles on it. I had a hard time finding a mechanic to look at it. Finally one did and he tried all the electrical fixes with no luck. Next, I took it to the local Chevy dealer several times. Each time I took it in I got conflicting reports and began to lose confidence in them. In talking to people in our area, I was directed to Schow's in Rupert, Idaho. It was now early June 2024. I began at their parts counter. They took me back to the shop to meet with their Service Manager Rick Alvarado. He wasn't in at the moment, but the parts guy asked me to explain the problem. As I did, Rickie, a mechanic, lifted his head from the engine he was working on. When the parts guy left, Rickie said "Tell me again what's going on with your engine." As I explained the problem to him, he said it sounds like a bad camshaft. So, here's Rickie working on a car, stopping to listen to my problem, a guy who he has never met. I was immediately impressed with his interest. When I talked to Rick, he said they would look at it, now in mid-June. When I took it in, both Rickie and Chris wanted to hear the problem again. They agreed that it sounded like an internal problem. Chris also owns a vehicle with the 8.1 L engine. I instantly had confidence in these two men. I felt they took a personal interest in my problem. After evaluation, they agreed that it was internal and that I needed a new engine. Rick said they could have a Jasper Engine here in under a week (Chevy dealer said a month or more). As I needed to use the motorhome for the month of July, Rick said they would get the engine in and when I returned they would get it installed. Rickie and Chris said it would be ok to drive the 600 miles I needed to drive, and they were right. Rick also knew and respected a deadline I had of the job being completed by the end of September. When I returned in early August, they got me right in. I understand that Rickie did the bulk of the engine replacement. It was finished in 4 days. They said to drive it 500 miles and bring it back in for an oil change and inspection. After the first 200 miles, there were a couple of small issues, unrelated to the engine. I talked to Rick on the phone and he said bring it in. I did, and Rickie quickly resolved the issues on the spot. After 500 miles I took it in for service and Rickie had noticed a leak at the crimp of an oil line. The service was completed, including rebuilding the oil line after Chris called all over to locate a new line, which wasn't available anywhere. Rickie also did a complete inspection under the vehicle. I am about to embark on a 6000 mile trip and I do so with complete confidence in the new engine and their work. I feel that Rick, Rickie, and Chris took a personal interest in my vehicle and made it their personal goal to resolve my problem. I am always amazed what good mechanics can do. They explained and showed me what they were doing, including the bad camshaft, which Rickie diagnosed with that simple initial conversation. Every time I pulled up to the shop, one of them met me with a smile. I cannot say enough good things about Schow's, Rick, their Service Manager, and Rickie and Chris in particular. I was impressed with how they put their heads together to resolve the issue. I highly recommend Schow's and their Service Department. We love Tommy's express car wash!…read more We had gone to Tommy's car wash and one of their washers bent are passenger rearview mirror back. Talk to a manager about it. Great guy! And showed him what happened and he said that he wouldn't get it fixed and then we went today and the car wash did not push our rearview mirror back. Yay. There were a lot of cars today and the workers make sure that there was enough space between cars and did not feel rushed which I appreciate it. Grateful for Tommy's express managers assistance when needed. We've had to have some assistance in the past. Thank you for your hard work and thank you for listening to us. We appreciate it. Grateful that they're willing to come and talk with us when needed. and explain some things. i'm grateful that they have cameras to make sure how things go through the car wash. That is a very comforting thing to know that they have cameras throughout the car wash. We are grateful that they keep the hours that they keep because of my husband's work we've had to have our car washed several times during one day. Upon the recommendation from Kia Motors, to have my spark plugs and fuel injectors replaced with…read moreOEM parts in my 2006 Kia Sedona LX Van with a 3.8 engine - which I purchased. I drove my well-running 2006 Kia Sedona LX Van to Don's Auto Repair for the simple tasks of spark plug and fuel injector replacements. When I came back the next day to pickup the Van, the Van was not running well at all and the check engine light was on revealing several error codes. Don's auto repair did not know what to do next or how to fix the error codes so I took my mis-firing, chugging and jerking - Kia van home in Burley. They did not offer to refund any part of the money - that was in excess of $500. Now, I am having my Kia Van towed (excess of $300) to Twin Falls to the Hyundai Dealer to fix the errors which will be in the neighborhood south of $1,500 - $2,000. Maybe when Don was there working, my Van would have been fixed right and if not, a refund would have been offered. UGG!!! The best words that comes to my mind on this business - from the Latin words, "CAVEAT EMPTOR" - let the buyer beware! I do not recommend this business for auto repairs or at least on Kia and/or Hyundai Vans.

We had just headded out vacation driving from Salt Lake City to the Oregon coast. I called and thankfully they said they would see if they could help. We arrived and just as mechanic Robbie had some time and was able to help immediatley! Don directed us to a nearby park to wait since we had our dogs with us. He even offered to drive us someplace in his truck! Robbie tried several fixes and tests and was not sure if the problem was fixed but had done what he could and we decided to move on. I don't know if the sensor just needed some adjusting or what Robbie did but the probem never reoccured! We're so grateful for Don and Robbie taking time to help us at a moments notice and for their friendliness and hospitality. They could have easily said we'd just have to wait until they could get to it but they worked us right in and we got on our way without too much delay and our dogs had a great time at the park!

My wife noticed the TPMS light on when leaving your store. She said it eventually went out on the…read moreway home, but when I checked the pressures, one front tire had 73#, and the other had 80#. I adjusted them to the correct pressures. This of course was when I noticed that all but one of my valve stem extensions were missing. There were originally 6 installed. I attempted to check and adjust the tire pressures on the right rear, and noticed the inner valve stem was not lined up. And that a regular valve stem cap was installed on the inside dual. This resulted in my having to lift the truck, remove the outer tire and then spin it to get the valve stems realigned and adjust the tire pressures as needed. While my wife was in your store, I asked her to check on the price to install 4 new tires that we would provide; and was very surprised she was quoted $240 to do the same dismount/mount & balance for 4 tires that you had just completed and charged her $80 for. When asked why the big discrepancy, she was told if you damaged a tire that you did not provide, that you'd have to replace it. Which, the tires that you just rotated were not your tires, so if you damaged one of those, then what do you do? When you combine all of the issues I found in just a simple tire rotation, and what looks to me like price gouging, unless I can get a better explanation I will probably not be coming back to your store with my trucks.
