I don't normally write reviews, but after multiple visits to this location, I felt compelled to…read moreshare my experience. I enjoy the workers every time I visit this store, Alan, Big J, John, Moe, etc. Are always welcoming faces. But their Management needs to go. On more than one occasion at Market Max (73029 LA-25, Covington, LA 70435), I have witnessed the manager behaving in a way that was extremely unprofessional. She was openly yelling at employees in front of customers, which created an uncomfortable and hostile environment for both staff and shoppers. It's difficult to feel welcome in a store where management appears to treat employees disrespectfully. I understand that retail can be stressful, but leadership sets the tone for the entire store. Addressing staff in a calm and respectful manner--especially in front of customers--would go a long way toward improving the atmosphere. This location has potential, but it truly needs stronger, more professional management. I hope ownership takes this feedback seriously and works toward creating a healthier environment for both employees and customers.

The Kangaroo Express has nothing to do with Kangaroos as far as I can tell…read more The Kangaroo Express is located on Hwy 21 and is a gas station/convenience store. The station seems to be older and a bit run down, but that could be because it is so busy. There are a good amount of pumps, but the station was jammed with people fueling up and going inside. The inside store is typical of most larger stations and the cashier was pleasant. There was a lot of construction going on in front of the station so entering and exiting was a bit difficult. Long live the gas station review!

When I asked her to stop she refused and kept hitting the boxes slamming them around very click clack against the counter and gave me this defiant look. Then she decided to yell at me from behind the counter with micro aggressions , giving me hundred facial expressions and all the attitude you could expect from a Petulant teenager from inside of her glorified goldfish bowl . Her face was contorting as she hurled backhanded remarks my way complete with all the 1-raised eyebrow and all the eye rolls , as her mouth crumpled up as she sputtered out her little utterances between going from one expression to the next . I thought plaque dont crack yet here we are ? did she not go to college -and go through a hiring process -to get this job ??? she is actually throwing herself down the trash by being rude to the sick patients who come for their medications ? Her colleagues jaws dropped as she humiliated herself at my expense . I called the cvs complaint hotline for them to take the report and the operator took his reports and said they will do an internal investigation (into what I consider to be patient abuse) ! Be proud of who you are and what you represent , think for your co workers , customers, humanity , the oath you took or the amount of student debt it took for you to get here to act this way This is not how you treat infirmary customers looking for relief !!! The ambience of the place is different as it's located in a convenient store right next to a beauty supply store that's located in the same building. The people seem friendly there, and we're kind to say the least. When I came to the food, there were so many selections to choose from, and even things in the back. Ring from the south I wanted to try some deep Southern cuisine that most would consider offals in the foodie community. I tried the fried beef tripe. I also tried a boiled pigs foot and some shrimp fried rice. I started to order the fried chicken, but it looks as though it was covered in grease so left it alone. Overall, the food is pretty good, and I had lots of smiles. It sort of reminded me of back home. I would suggest going to try it out, experience it for yourself, the food as well, seasoned and quite tasty, and the service was quite friendly the locals seem to really enjoy it.

Gene's Country Store is great…read more Before reading this review, there's something you should know about me. I love taking the back roads when traveling and I love stopping at small country stores. When I took my kids to Global Wildlife recently this store was right by a turn and I knew I had to stop. Since we were in a hurry to make a certain tour, I executed a verbal contract with my children and had them agree to allow me to stop after our tour. Gene's is a typical country gas station. Outside are two old style pumps. If you have only pumped fuel in an urban environment, you may not know how to use that type of pump. Just remember that the handle is on the side, and the piece that holds it in place must be rotated towards you to activate the pump. Inside the store is small, but has a large variety of goods. Since it is probably the nearest store to many people, there was a good selection of household items as well as traditional convenience store products. But none of that interested me when I saw what was in the coolers. Along the far side wall were coolers stocked with smoked sausage, hogs head cheese, tasso and stuffed chickens. I was woefully unprepared since I didn't have a cooler, but lucked out when I saw a Styrofoam cooler for sale. IO picked up sausage, tasso and a block of hogs head cheese and the cashier through in the ice for free. The sausage and tasso became part of a spectacular chicken, sausage and tasso gumbo and I haven't yet tried the head cheese. The lady working the counter was very friendly and helpful. She was also very observant since despite our best efforts to blend in, she knew we weren't locals. At some country stores that would have been a negative, but not here. She treated us like we were members of her family. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend this country store.
