I want to preface this review by saying that there was only ONE person (cooking and waitressing) working a rather busy weekday lunch time so that could be a major factor for my low review. The wait for a sashimi and sushi platter was rather long, it took over 45 mins for my order to come out from the moment I placed it. The presentation was excellent but the taste was not. The sushi rice from the California roll and nigri was also very mushy and not flavorful. The fish itself was decent, not the freshest but not the worse either. The miso soup was lukewarm and kind of bland. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, it's definitely going for a cozy Japanese restaurant type of vibe with the wood walls and flooring. That being said, there were too many things that made my experience not so great. I'd like to try this restaurant again maybe when they're not so short staffed and can focus on the quality of the food better. read more

I waited until my second visit to make my review. Average food in a great location. Every piece of sushi fell apart when I picked it up. Salad was large pieces of iceberg lettuce and some cucumbers with a sour vinegar yellow dressing....not typical ginger dressing. Restaurant staff are efficient and reasonably cordial. Our second time here with kids and we LOVE it. The place itself is very humble, kind of like a countryside diner - it is cozy and friendly - you will be taken care of right away the minute you step in. The personnel are polite and quick, and your food will be ready in a blink of an eye. And the food here is of much better quality than some of the upscale sushi places!! Delish. All of it. One word: YUMMY I decided to try this place today as it was on my way to the True Value Hardware store & I'm sure not sorry that I did. This was the best food I've had in a long time. This lunch redefined the word perfect. It changes the curve on great food. I had ordered take out, the Shrimp & Vegetable tempura "lunch" special (it was more like dinner size). It came with dumplings that were extraordinarily delicious. Very generous portion of tempura; the shrimp had a thick coating of delicious tempura this is a true indulgence. The sauce was incredible, might have been a little high on the salt content. The California roll was fresh and delicious. I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I really am struggling with this review as I really wanted to give this 4 stars. I have eaten here a few times, and most of the time food is very good. Even this time the food was good but the service was lacking. They were short staffed. My better half and I stoped in for lunch on Saturday. We were told that we could only order food to go, but we would be able to eat it at a table there. We decided that we would just take it to go. We ordered four rolls which were all delicious. The man that was preparing Our sushi rolls was wearing gloves. The other guy that was working was not touching our sushi but he was preparing some fried ice cream for another customer and my better half watched him do this with no gloves on. He touched the food multiple times preparing. He never washed his hands between touching the register my credit card, the receipt, the handle to the freezer, the counter, ice cream and the Panko crumbs. He then had his fingers in the whip cream that he put on a fried ice cream as well. My better half pointed this out to me while it was going on so I did see him finish preparing this. So we watched the sushi chef to make sure he was diligent in being clean. We will never be back. It's to bad the food was always good. read more

My parents absolutely love this place as the service is quick, food is consistent and the owners are friendly! I opted for the avocado salad to start which was a decent size and tasted fresh. I absolutely love ginger dressing and theirs is definitely more watery than creamy but the taste was on point. My dad got the rock shrimp tempura to start which comes with about 10 pieces of shrimp fried in a spicy Mayo sauce. I did not try it but it looked good and he finished it all! I also got the Summer Island roll which is a speciality roll wrapped in cucumber versus seaweed and rice; the perfect choice for me! The fish tasted fresh, the cucumber was light and refreshing and the sauce on top was flavorful. This is my favorite place to go for sushi, bimbipop and so much more. The service is prompt, friendly and always helpful. I went there for my birthday early this month and had the best meal. I'm updating now review regarding the Korean fare at GTS: They now seem to have got it right. The sole waitress on duty each time we visit seems a little overworked, and it's nice to see the chef/owner occasionally step out from behind the counter to assist her with serving. Maps and google said this sushi restaurant was open until 9PM today (Thursday, 9/8/2022) so I went in at 8:20 and asked if I could get sushi to go as I did not want to eat there and make them stay open later than 9 but was craving sushi so badly. When I asked if I could get sushi to go, one of the cooks yelled and threw his hands up in the air. Started yelling at the hostess and then she translated to English for me to let me know that they were closed (8:20 pm) and I drove about 25 minutes to get there. I apologized for being an inconvenience and left. Honestly feel like there was a much more professional way that could have been handled on their part so I did them a favor and went to google and submitted a request to update their hours to reflect that they close at 8 PM so nobody else gets screamed at. 100% will not be returning, super disappointing. read more

We've gone there for take-out about a half dozen times, and finally went in for a sit-down lunch. What a pleasant surprise in Manlius! The service was just right: attentive without being overly so. The food was DELICIOUS --we had Maki combo platters, and the miso soup hit the spot, since we were both getting over colds. (Miso is up there with good Matzo soup as a "cure-all" in my book!) we live right in manlius and we LOVE good times!! i have tried something new almost every single time and i have never been disappointed. my favorite though is the rose garden roll - if you like tuna/salmon/crab salad then definitely worth the try. some rolls are deep fried which is quite tasty, but if youre expecting your sushi to be cold, and not warm, definitely make sure before you order. if it says "flash fried" then its quickly deep fried. my partners favorite is one of these, so they are very good! just something to be aware of so youre not disappointed :) the service is always prompt, and straight to the point. they also prefer if you pay with cash, and will give a discount if you do, so we always try to remember that. such a sweet locally owned spot that we love to frequent, both for take out & dine in. read more

Everything is good quality but the sushi isn't made well and doesn't taste right... it's just as bad as Kyoko's in Fayetteville. Too much rice vinegar and too little sugar in the rice. The rice is fresh instead of made in advance and cooled, resulting in a grocery-store sushi roll of sticky goo. And, they're rolled so loosely that my friend and I kept losing a third of the roll, just dipping it into the soy sauce. Not to mention the rolls take FOREVER to come out. We were a party of two with only one other party of two, who already had their food... 35 minutes to get our 4 rolls out. One small takeout order came in while we were there. That's all. My own sushi is better... tighter, faster, and doesn't taste like vinegar. Very disappointed since we were so excited to have a sushi place in walking distance. I will say the miso soup was very good. Again, the ingredients were very fresh... the sushi was just poorly made, like Kyoko. Hardly any seafood in either dish except for calamari tentacles and each had one shrimp with the shell on which was annoying since you had to remove it and get the shell off and place back in the soup and udon. . The servers are always friendly and the sushi chef is also very personable always saying hello or goodbye to anyone coming or going. The sushi is fresh and nicely presented. Before my mom and I became regulars around 2 years ago we genuinely believed the best sushi joint around was the sushi bar in the wegmans. But when it had just opened we decided to drop by and we were absolutely blown away by how good the food was. No matter what we got, it was delicious. Tried this place for the first time tonight and we absolutely loved it! We were a group of 5 vegetarians (exciting in a sushi place, I know). It may be surprising to discover a great place to eat in Manlius since the options are slim, but Good Times Sushi is a great addition to the Village of Manlius and may be the best Sushi in the Syracuse area. Good Times Sushi almost bombed my review. It was not busy when my wife and I arrived. We waited a while for an empty table to get clean, but the busy hour had just passed since we arrived close to 8pm. The drinks didn't get to our table for at least 15 to 20 minutes and the diet coke was in a can. To be honest, I tried to order a beer, but Good Times, at the moment,? does not serve alcohol. So Diet Coke was my next option. I didn't like my Diet Coke in a can. After all, I am out to dinner at a new place with my wife; I expected a cup or glass with a straw. Oh well, this could change. We placed our order... Miso soup, edamame, and three rolls, spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, and sweet potato. Keep in mind, I could not order an American Dream Roll because the salmon supply was low which is why I ordered the spicy salmon roll. There remained enough salmon for it. The food kicked ass. Miso soup, usually not very exciting, was the best and tastiest miso I have ever had. Oh, the sushi was amazing; heads above anywhere else I have ever eaten and enjoyed sushi. There may be some kinks to work out as Good Times Sushi catches up and figures out its dining patterns, but they will. My final bill was reduced by half for no reason other than them feeling bad about being iverwhelmed on a Friday night. I would have paid full price regardless.
