Review of Dr. John - Lakeland Regional Health System Dr…read more John is phenomenal! I had a hip replacement in August 2025, and despite some soft-bone issues that slowed my recovery, he guided me through every step with incredible care and attention. He truly listens--something rare and invaluable--and his advice made all the difference. His positivity, expertise, and bedside manner are unmatched. If you want a surgeon who is fully invested in your fastest, safest, and most successful recovery, Dr. John is the one. I cannot say enough amazing things about him and the exceptional care he provides!

Further because there is absolutely no privacy except for the bathroom (which your roommate is allowed not to have to use), your roommate not only knows your date of birth and full name, which you say over and over to all the medical professionals who come in for various reasons, they get to hear all of your private medical consultations with your doctor, which the hospital assures me is perfectly acceptable. Yep. I was informed that HPPPA rules don't count in hospitals that are outdated. Further, you have to carefully watch everything they do. I had three separate issues where the attending doctor (one I never actually met in person- though the one Dr I met who wasn't actually my assigned doctor seemed competent) very obviously paid no attention what so ever to my chart and I had to send the nurse to ask them if they really wanted to (as one example) prescribe pills that one has to swallow with water to someone who is possibly not digesting anything and isn't supposed to be taking anything by mouth. (No, no they don't want to). I could go on. Bartow hospital and Braden hospital are somewhat close. Unless they can give you a single room so your private health information is not compromised I'd go to a different hospital.

We arrived first thing in the morning and went through security who directed us to where we needed to be. Once upstairs, I signed in and waited till I was called and then did the rest of the check-in. It was just a short wait before they called me and back and started getting things ready. I ended up waiting about three hours for my turn in the rotation and once they got me in everything went pretty quick they already had IV set in my arm and shaved the area they would be working on. I was awake for the procedure, but I was medicated and I got to watch part of it on the big screen of the doctor was using. The whole team did a great job and was professional throughout. Everything went really well and then I was sent for postop. I did spend a lot more time there than I thought I would, but there were things they had to be sure of, and the doctor had to sign off on my release at the end. The nursing staff kept me pretty well informed and checked on me continuously while I was there. When it was time to go, they went over all the care and procedures I would need and provided me with paperwork to cover everything. They also sent my new prescriptions to my pharmacy. If you needed an outpatient heart procedure here I can genuinely recommend them. I hope I don't have to come back for anything, but if I do, I know I will be well cared for.

I was unable to sit in the chairs due to back issues and asked if I could lay in my car and was told once I was out the doors I would not be seen. Then I asked if there was somewhere I could lay down and I was told to pull the hard chairs together. The man at the desk could have cared less about how he treated people. I was in tears with pain and was met with sarcasm and zero concern. I left and went to AdventHealth ER on Cypress Gardens and was met with empathy and was in a room within minutes of arriving. I have never had a good experience at Winter Haven hospital and now that there is another ER option I will never go back. I recommend that no one with real pain go there. You'll sit forever and no one cares about you at all.

Once admitted into the hospital, all those nurses and medics were also extremely kind, attentive and treated family member with respect. The hospital is clean unlike some other hospitals I have been to in this county. I'm not sure why so many negative reviews. We have been to this hospital several times and have had nothing but a pleasant experience.

Extremely Disappointing and Insensitive Experience…read more My daughter and I had a very distressing experience at Advent Emergency Room on Hwy 27 in Davenport, FL. My daughter is a medical assistant. She woke up in severe pain with excessive bleeding outside of her normal cycle. Based on her symptoms and what she observed, she was convinced she was experiencing a miscarriage. Although her periods are irregular and she did not know she was pregnant, she was very clear and consistent about what she was experiencing. I immediately drove her to the ER. After checking in, we waited about 40 minutes before she was taken for vital signs. During this time, the nurse repeatedly questioned her credibility because she had not taken a pregnancy test, despite my daughter explaining her symptoms. The questioning felt dismissive rather than investigative. After another wait, she was brought to the back, where a nurse again questioned her in an uncomfortable and insensitive manner. At one point, the nurse attempted to listen to her abdomen with a stethoscope but was nowhere near her stomach. My daughter was then sent back to the waiting area and told it would be a while. When she was finally brought back again, another nurse attempted to start an IV. The process was prolonged and uncomfortable, with the tourniquet left on for several minutes while searching for a vein. When blood was finally drawn, it was done hurriedly. Blood was visibly leaking from the IV afterward, which the nurse did not notice until my daughter pointed it out. Her urine sample, which had been sitting for some time, was finally tested. The nurse immediately stated that my daughter was not pregnant and never had been, without waiting for blood work results or offering further evaluation. Blood sample tubes were left unattended, knocked over, and discarded carelessly. The trash can was overflowing, and basic cleanliness and professionalism were lacking. Another nurse then entered and very bluntly stated my daughter was not pregnant and that this was just her normal period. When my daughter attempted to explain what she experienced, she was cut off in a rude and dismissive manner. Despite our request, an ultrasound was refused, and blood work results were presented extremely quickly, raising serious concerns about the accuracy and thoroughness of the evaluation. My daughter was already emotionally distressed, and the lack of compassion, professionalism, and proper medical care made the situation much worse. She felt rushed, invalidated, and treated like a burden. When she decided to leave, discharge papers were produced almost immediately. This was one of the quickest ER visits I have ever experienced--not because of efficiency, but because of how fast they seemed to want us out. The care was rushed, insensitive, and unprofessional. I will never return to this hospital, and neither will any member of my family. We will gladly travel to another town to receive care where patients are treated with respect, compassion, and proper medical attention. My star rating is a one because I can't get any lower. If it was my rating it would be a -5,000 star.

Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. These are statements, facts, and claims regarding the work experience within the Florida Department…read moreof Health located in Bartow, Florida. Specifically, working in case investigations and contract tracing under the direction of section chief Scott Sjoblom and Jane Nelson. During the Covid-19 pandemic, spikes in case counts, hospitalizations, and deaths during June, 2020 and November 2020, it was the responsibility of case investigators, like myself, to conduct thorough, comprehensive, and quality interviews with persons under investigation (PUI's). In short, case investigators were tasked with completing phone calls and interviews throughout the day. A.) Management Managers / section chiefs Scott Sjoblom and Jane Nelson, were responsible for distributing cases to all investigators. On a daily basis the section chiefs were instructing investigators and tracers to complete a certain amount of PUI's a day. Depending on the cases being distributed to us(investigators), the workday would be made up of busy days and slow days (depending on cases being distributed to us). Performance evaluations were issued to me in an attempt to complete more cases daily. When asked about how to improve PUI interview processes or systems, section chiefs Scott and Jane were incapable of offering support or guidance without escalating my Emails to human resources. Daily evaluation reports were to be completed by investigators. These reports are currently one sided, biased, and unfair. They offer protection and cover for the mismanagement, misappropriation, and irresponsibility being implemented by the section chiefs. I experienced a "surprise attack" or what I consider to be a form of harassment around 10/1/20. In my evaluation report, I was blamed for mistakes and errors performed by both Scott and Jane. The fact that I started asking questions to the section chiefs is what prompted Scott to arrange a meeting with Human Resources. When asked about the reason for termination, Scott replied "combative". In reality, they were just questions which were incapable of being answered by the section chiefs. It's peculiar how when questions started being asked, the decision to terminate a temporary employee arose. C.) Work Environment Working within case investigation under the direction of Scott Sjoblom, the environment for conducting thorough, comprehensive, and quality PUI's did not exist. Investigators are rushed in a manner similar to a McDonald's production line making chicken nuggets as fast as possible. Regards for developing quality rapport, offering sound medical guidance, and abiding by cultural sensitivities were ignored by section chiefs. CDC guidelines and training recommendations for improving case investigations and contact tracing were ignored. Weekly meetings between section chiefs and investigators were often canceled. Any questions by email were escalated and classified as "insubordinate" by both Scott and Jane. Contact tracer and investigator burnout is high in Polk County with many employees just leaving the position. I have never experienced this form of management in larger, structured, and professional organizations throughout the country. Summary and Closing On 11/17/20, I agreed to attend a meeting with Scott Sjoblom, Patricia Mayid, and Deborah Hughes. In the meeting, I was instructed not to argue, debate, or ask questions. As expected, I received a termination document/ letter. The document does not state the reason for termination. The reason for termination was provided verbally by Scott Sjoblom as "performance" and "combative." There is no evidence of me being "combative" as all my communication is in written form and offers clear and concise language. They also include questions, and feedback. The document I have attached here should reflect the "performance" aspect of my work since I received the evaluation document from Scott Sjoblom around 10/1//20. As indicated by all my written emails to Scott, Jane, and my team lead, my performance was not in question at all. The records attached and the work performed by me is the same amount of work being distributed by Scott and Jane. From my perspective, it seems as though if a section chief does not like you, they can dismiss you for asking questions. Just for the record, my performance was not in question and is not the reason for termination.
