We arrived early and found that very quickly there was a line that was extending out the door. That was for good reason. This place is excellent. Great staff, impeccable food, fantastic service. Inside is clean, neat with hearty tables. The front features their baked goods as well. All fresh, all look delicious. I tried the Tiramisu for dessert. No pictures. It was that good that it made me forget. We dined in, and to do so, you order at the front, are seated and are served shortly after. When you order, keep in mind that they bring bread to the table. Two types of bread with a delicious mix of oil and balsamic that is ideal for dipping. Shortly after we received our food. We split the sandwiches between us and one order of truffle fries. The muffuletta was so meaty and flavorful. The bread fresh and the perfect accompaniment. The eggplant likewise was so delicious. I was expecting more of historical panini type bread but this bread was perfect and grilled. The truffle fries...crispy, bursting with flavor. Really generous portions here of next level sandwiches. You cannot find canned peach sodas everywhere, but they have them! I tried the Cajun boiled peanuts which were tasty. I did not like boiled peanuts when I tried them years ago. The food was prepared in a timely manner, and both gentlemen working were friendly. There really isn't anywhere to sot to eat, but this would be a nice addition. There is a mural on the outside of the store which was painted by FSCJ students. I'm going to stop by for breakfast the next time as this is my favorite meal, and hopefully the grit bowls are what I imagine them to be!

Long time visitor, first time reviewer. I know, I know. About time…read more What is there to say about Sub Cultured that hasn't been said already? Everything on the menu is delicious, the staff is wonderful, and they stand up to bigotry in their own backyard. You can't get much better than that. The only drawback (if you can even consider it one) is just figuring out a good time to arrive to avoid a line. Regardless, even if there is one, the staff moves through it quickly and efficiently. As Sub Cultured is a walk-up window, there's some outside tables to sit, as well as the option of sitting in your car for that car-hop action. Otherwise, you're so close to the beach and parks that taking your sandwiches for a picnic isn't a bad idea either. If you can't find parking immediately at Sub Cultured, there's a little shopping center just next door since there doesn't seem to be much for street parking outside of their handful of spots. All of that said, I'm a transplant to Jacksonville via the Navy since 2004. One of the biggest cravings that I have from back home is a real authentic sausage, pepper, and onion grinder. I can't even begin to describe to y'all how great Sub Cultured's is with that spicy Italian sausage and perfectly cooked peppers and onions. Add a little spicy brown mustard and you're all set.

The chicken was very dry, although the vegetables were fresh, so I wish the chicken had been better prepared. One more thing I noticed was the parking situation. I felt the parking lot is located in a somewhat dangerous spot. I also tried the key lime cookie, and it was so good that I had to go back today for another one. Because my first experience was so great, I returned the very next day to try something different. This time, I had the sausage and chicken gumbo, along with (yes!) another key lime cookie. The gumbo was flavorful and comforting--definitely a great choice. What truly stood out the most, though, was the service. On my first visit, my waitress--who was also managing--along with another server, were incredibly polite and courteous. Although I can't remember their names, they were both exceptional. Today, I had the best cashier/server who even brought me a sample of the gumbo before I ordered. I also met the kitchen manager, who was friendly and confident about the dish, and the general manager came out to introduce himself and was very welcoming. This place is a 10 out of 10!
