This place has been open for 24 years. That's just crazy. And their Reuben was fantastic even though I'm not even a Reuben fan. The meat was so tender and wasn't too salty. The meat to bread ratio is perfect for a nice lunch. Not overloaded with meat served with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and their secret dressing on toasted rye bread. I know it doesn't sound exciting, but this sandwich is true perfection. After stealing half of my boyfriend's Reuben, I switched gears to my order: the chicken wrap with bacon. This was another fantastic choice. It was huge and juicy--served sliced in half wrapped up in aluminum foil with crispy bacon and tender chicken, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing. This was their daily special and for about $8 you get the sandwich wrap, chips and a drink. I got the Lay's Sour Cream & Onion and the Cherry Lemonade. I would order this again. Oh yea, if you're a sauce whore like me--try the big bottle of Peruvian Sauce located on the counter. It's a sweet and tangy dressing to pour into your sandwich or use it for dipping. No one working there ever mentioned it, but I helped myself and it was super tasty. Yes--it was. Overall, the service was fast and friendly. We originally came here after I Googled "Best Meatball Subs 32205" and Lunch Break Sandwich Shop was mentioned in an article on the (apparently old) list. They said they hadn't had meatball subs on their menu in years. So...we decided to eat there anyway. Glad we did and you definitely should check this place out, too. Trust me. Good local spot for breakfast and lunch. Open from 7-230 Monday to Friday. Been coming here for a few years and I think they're very good. I mainly come here for their Chili Dog w Cheese. It's my favorite Chili Cheese Dog, I havent found one that made me think otherwise. The place is in a small shopping plaza on Loree St off of Edgewood Ave. Place is clean, staff is friendly & efficient and food is good. Its not a place you would go out of your way for but if you work in the area or happened to be in the area, it's a very good spot. Oh and did I mention that their Chili Dog w Cheese was good? I'm giving this place 4 stars for what it is. This isn't a place I would normally go to and I wouldn't go back to but for what this is it's doing a good job. It's cheap food in a mom and pop place. Maybe like whatever a local McDonalds breakfast would look like? We went for breakfast with my family one morning. The place was consistent with people coming and going. For breakfast it's the same menu but different versions on how to order it. I ordered bacon and egg on rye, someone else order their hash breakfast on pita which was mashed tater tots, bacon, egg, and cheese in a pita. The cheese they offer is just American. They ask if you want to add butter or mayo to your dish, which I thought was strange. I think they only use the cartoned scrambled egg mix because everyone got scrambled eggs without asking. Tater tots were just frozen and fried. So why am I giving them a hiring rating when I don't really like it? The people were kind. That truly makes an experience for me. The place was clean and bright. They are unique for offering Peruvian Gold sauce and cherry limeade. Would I go back? No but it does a very good job for what it is. read more

The time I stopped in for lunch, there were quite a few high-school kids in, which extended the time it took to order and obtain the sandwich. Always loved this place. Even as a high school student, my go to spot for a good lunch. Never left me disappointed. I really liked the burgers, and those fries are great. Favorite aspect is that it's just a hometown favorite. As a local I can vouch for it and always use it as a recommendation. You can tell everything is homemade to order, the service is second to none and the restaurant is very clean. They also have great drinks. In the spirit of Dale O.'s insatiable love of the camel rider, I've been looking for a good steak in a sack (pica stuffed with grilled onions and steak). I made several local west-side inquires and came up with a few I wanted to try, the first one being Lunch Break. The place is out in BFE on north Edgewood and not close to anywhere I'd be going if I didn't want a pita sandwich. In other words, the location sucks. But I suspect they have a great breakfast and lunch crowd and takeouts factor into that too. On first inspection, the place is very clean, one of my J-ville eatery criteria. So back to the pita. It came OVER STUFFED with chunks of beef that resembled roast cut more than steak. There was onion, but very little of it and I had them through in lettuce tomato and mayo. The meat tasted like it had been sitting in a vat and kept warm, not the grilled taste I was hoping for. Some pieces were tender and some tasted like Chuck roast. At $4.25 not a bad lunch but it will be my last. However, I would be willing to sample their real camel rider if my travels take me up this way again. They also offer many options for a cheap breakfast and a variety of other sandwiches. Open 6:30 until 3 PM. read more

I eat here so often I decided it was time I write a quick review. This is a great place for a quick sandwich or bowl of soup for a fair price. Most meals are in the $8-$10 range or a little less if you get the daily special. Be warned that the lunch rush can cause a long line and burgers usually take a while. Nice place if you work in the area, which I do. First of all, clean and friendly. The staff know my name and most of my co-workers'. Family-owned and you can tell! Second, the food is pretty good, no-nonsense fare. My favorites are the veggie rider, the BLT (enough bacon for two sandwiches), the turkey club, or the occasional chicken salad sandwich. Finally, most importantly, they now serve STARBUCKS. Not just coffee but lattes and frapuccinos. As others have said, lunch hour can be very busy, but that's just a sign of a good place anyway.
