It's not so surprising with CVS, but I was really surprised that places like Petsmart overcharge as well. When I first went to Val's, it was like a breath of fresh air. (LIterally, figuratively.) For a big bag I ended up paying about $15, where for a bag HALF the size of the one I got at Val's I was paying about the same at other places. That's a REALLY big difference. What will make me come back to Val's is the sales. They plaster the inside and outside of their business with posters of their sales, sales on things that no one else does. Science Diet for a buck a can? Big bags of kitten chow for $12? I"m so there! If you have a cat or dog and you're sick of paying stupid prices for the simple things they need, then check out Val's. I thought the groomer did an okay job but never trimmed any body fur and the butt was a bit scruffy and looked a bit unfinished. Chest feathering was not trimmed at all. Being retired on a fixed income, I think I will look around more before I schedule my two year old Cavalier for her next grooming appointment.

The owners are dog lovers and protect them even if they have to disappoint customers. ie-window tapping by customers is forbidden, puppy handling is strictly monitored and done is a special area after they explain how to hold pups and once a pup is selected, absolutely no customers are allowed to touch that pup except the family it will be joining. The puppies are taken home at night, which I believe is why my dog is so well adjusted and without phobias. He is clearly a dog who has only known happiness and kindness. When they send the dog home with its new family, they set up an appointment after hours so they can carefully explain dog care without interruptions. We also received a package which included a wellness check at a local vet, an in-home training session/safety check, food supply (same as what he was already eating to avoid digestive issues) and other goodies. The store carries a great selection of high quality items--the clothes are irresistible and I always find something I just have to get!

We regret purchasing a puppy from them and would not recommend them to others. We wanted to share our experience as a warning because what should have been an exciting experience turned into a very difficult one due to our dog's health issues. We would never get another puppy from Tea Cups & Toys and cannot recommend them based on our experience.
