We were in this area on an overnight and needed to pick up some Fromm dog food. I used Fromm's store locator and found Hollywood Feed, so we swung by. We brought our dog in with us to check out the wares. The lady working in the store was super friendly, and gave a treat to our dog when we were checking out. We didn't take the time to walk through the whole store but I saw that they had lots of treats (some fancy looking ones, too). Hollywood Feed offers curbside pickup, a loyalty program, and delivery, and we learned that they would even deliver to us in Wisconsin. read more

I have drove by the PetPeople hundreds of times on Woodward. It wasn't until recently I was going for a walk on Woodward during the Dream Cruise and saw a sign that caught my attention that said "Spaw" self service dog wash. I just had to go inside and check it out to find out more about their dog grooming service. Their service allows you to bath your dog in their spa (bath tubs large enough for even Great Danes), use all of their supplies, shampoos, towels, and hairdryers. The best part is that they will do all the dirty work and clean up after you! So convenient if you own a large dog! I definitely will be bringing my dog here when the weather gets cooler for her baths and needs them indoors. The store is very clean, well organized, and spacious. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of their products and helpful in answering any questions. They carry a lot of natural dog foods with reasonable prices too. A great selection of toys, bones, dog treats, collars, leashes, dog beds, and pet supplies. They have a cute dog bakery section inside the store. The cakes and cookies cutout in bone shapes that say "happy birthday" are so cute! There are even doggie truffles and safe chocolates for dogs that look good enough for humans to eat. Lol. I was picking out a car seat for my 3 month old Frenchie, and Robin helped us pick out the best car seat for my Olive. This is a cute store for the family animal. We come here to buy little chew toys for my sister-in-law's little dog. They also sell fresh made dog food and treats. I bought pH strips here for the fish tank. They have every imaginable toy and accessory that you would need for any kind of pet, be it land or water. If I had a pet, I'd be going here for everything for the pet. However, I don't have a pet. So I only come here to by chew toys for my sister-in-law's dog. That little thing gets through and choose up everything in sight. He can chew down a bone within weeks. He's forever needing more chew toys to keep them busy. The staff is friendly here and helpful. It's a quick in and out process with the cashiers. I like the feel of this store versus the chain pet stores. read more

I have always had great customer service at Birmingham location until today. I called ahead to ask if they still " price match", I was told " yes" I called Premier Pet to get a price on dog food, 12 dollars less than Pet People. I go to Pet People, Ann the manager calls Premier and then tells me they do not have the same item. ( which they do as i just spoke to the mgr) she rudely refused to honor their own store policy. I drove to Premier, picked up the EXACT bag/size.... Will never shop this store again read more

Secondly, we bring in our baby for baths here; they used to supply better shampoos but the current ones make our dog itch. So we try to remember to bring in his oatmeal shampoo. Nice people, clean store. Do NOT buy these cow tails ... they have pieces of vertebrae in them and now our dog has been sick for two weeks after swallowing a small piece of bone that was inside this tail. Pet People you need to remove these from your store before another dog gets sick or dies. read more

I probably drive past this store a couple hundred times before finally stopping in to check it out. I had been a pretty loyal customer to Pet Supplies Plus down the street but decided to see if this store sold my dog food. The first thing you notice when walking inside is how spacious and clean everything is. Nothing is thrown around and crammed in. The employees are beyond friendly and helpful and really love animals. They truly encourage you to bring in your 4 legged friend. They even have an area in the back for self washing your dog which seemed very clean. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality products they carry and excited that they carry my dogs food. You won't be getting any kibble and bits here, only high quality, mostly natural products. They also have a great rewards program that I encourage you to take advantage of. read more

Such welcoming and approachable staff. This location is right by busy Woodward (close to downtown Birmingham). I really liked the assortment of dog accessories, treats, cakes, toys and food! I also like the self doggy spa they have in the back of the store. But after going to a few different dog specialty stores... I think this store is a tad expensive when compared to most. I wanted to get a pressed, rolled rawhide circle chew for my border collie (longer lasting for aggressive chewers) but they were 9 dollars each! I've bought the same thing for half the price! With buffalo hide! I love my pup but I'm not willing to pay 50% more for the same product. I give this store a 4 star for carrying so many products for pet lovers. (They even have raincoats for small dogs!) I docked a star for its price range. Nothing personal. I still think you guys are great :) read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see Canadian Origen cat food - one bag feeds both kitten & adult cats! It's very hard to find, premium and not all pet stores carry it. I saw Origen for dogs too. They carry lots sturdy kitty condos and lots of premium cat foods - dry and canned. Parking is available at the back. I only bought a small sampler bag for my cats. I have 3 large dogs and I've been going to a different store for years. When this store opened up I switched because the parking is significantly more convenient and it's less crowded. I've had good experiences up until today. I was considering changing dog foods to either a weight management food or possibly a senior food. The sales woman literally said that switching to any other food than the one they're currently eating would be a downgrade and if I'm ok with feeding them crap than that's my choice. I almost walked out of the store, but I desperately needed some food and I was too rushed to go anywhere else. I'm on a frequent buyer program and after one more bag I get a free one. After that free bag I will likely switch back to the store I used to go to. There are a few things I don't like about the other store, but at least the sales people are friendly and don't make me feel like I'm doing something wrong by trying to take care of my dogs. Making your customers feel bad is a quick way to go out of business. If I were the manager of this store I would fire this salesperson immediately. read more
