Surprised by the terrible reviews. When I stopped in after a Saturday afternoon bike ride along the Bow River it was just the perfect ending to a relaxing afternoon. Firstly I noticed that the servers tried to remember regular clientele's orders. Secondly the staff were all super friendly. And honest. I asked how the apple blackberry tarts were and she could have said "great" but she just said "I can't lie to you I haven't tried one." (I bought it anyways and it was awesome. Flaky soft pastry and just the right amount of sweetness.) Cappuccino was good but a tad small. Great spot to sit and relax and people watch. Weirdly the girl at the cash took great pains not to touch things with her hands. My advice -- touch all the dirty money buttons and credit cards all you want just wash your hands after. read more

This Good Earth Coffee Shop is located at the Eau Claire Market and is one conveniently located Starbucks alternative. There's also a Tim's not far away and an even better Caffè Artigiano at Shell Centre a few blocks up. I like my Coffee fresh and black, of which Good Earth does well. I was here this afternoon and I sat outside because I arrived too early for a blood donation. Since I cannot sit in the mall due to Covid restrictions, I decided to sit outside at the tables. Place had nobody inside obviously and there was nobody outside, just me. He implied that I was a loiterer and that I didn't have business sitting there because sitting there is 'not free'. Owner was really not professional and had no regard for me. I had been thinking of purchasing something, but his attitude made me not do so and I told him I wouldn't be back there for any reason and I won't be. Avoid this location if you don't want an owner to argue with. Based on other reviews I'm reading here where it's not good, it sounds right in line with what I experienced. I would rather back track four blocks to Tims than go here. read more

I was just in this afternoon with my two small granddaughters. I was so happy to see the owner/manager! He is always so nice to the little ones! and has made a special effort to remember and call them by name, as well as remembering that they love ginger cookies! read more

Great little spot located conveniently in the Eau Clair market. Love the whole food type options such as the steel cut oatmeal with FRESH fruit toppings and nuts from their oatmeal topping bar. Various breakfast options and a few delicious looking salads. Chocolate zucchini loaf was on point. So many great options to choose from from their baked goods and their coffee beans are actually great. Coffee was a nice flavour. Not too strong of a burnt flavour which I find the case with most North American coffee shops. Limited outdoor seating. Bike parking right outside. Priced typically for a more wholesome coffee shop. Staff was very pleasant and welcoming. Would definitely come here again when in Calgary to fuel my caffeine addiction :D read more

Was very disappointed to go in and find the barista not wearing a mask. They had been in the back and did not wash their hands when they came out before making our coffees. My daughter and I stopped for a little treat while my husband was donating blood. We ordered a smoothie and asked for a few modifications, to which the server ( Mo El-Kerm ) happily obliged. After he filled out cup, there was a little bit remaining and he filled another small cup for my little three year old so she could feel like a big girl and have her own. Good Earth is NOT good at all. At least not this location. STAY AWAY!!! Unhygienic, rude and dishonest staff. We ordered THREE drinks: one kid sized, one medium and one large. We got TWO medium drinks. When I went back and asked for my kid sized drink, they fished the receipt out of the garbage with their bare hands and agreed that they missed a drink. They then proceeded to make a drink for me with their bare hands without washing them. Then I asked them why I had two medium drinks, and asked if I had paid for one medium and one large (as we had ordered). They looked up the receipt and said I paid for two mediums. I then asked for a copy of the receipt. ONLY then did they admit that I paid for a large and made me a second drink. By this time I was really annoyed and asked for my money back. They refused. On top of that the staff were very rude. They ran out of straws and when a customer inquired about them the response was, "We ran out of straws. My manager went to get some, but we don't have any. What more do you want us to do?" I told them I was disappointed with their work and felt that they were being very dishonest in giving my two drinks instead of three and downsizing one of the two drinks they gave me. They shrugged and made no apology, saying "they forgot". I think one mistake is believable, but TWO? And he had a chance to admit his mistake but lied didn't own up to it until I asked for my receipt. Geez. Worst experience ever. Don't go. read more

Yesterday I was having a rough day. By 'rough,' I actually mean *awful*. That said, it's understandable why I cancelled my Thursday night commitment and committed to spending a couple of hours with me, myself and I. First off, I love the location of this place. Attached to Eau Claire Market and with patio chairs and tables set up facing Joey Tomatoes, The Barley Mill and The Buffalo Cafe (and the YMCA but I purposely blocked this out from my view considering I was indulging...), this Good Earth is the perfect place to set up for some serious people-watching. I had originally walked over in hopes of indulging in one of those peanut butter marshmallow treats...you know... the heart-attack square as I like to call it... but lucky for me, they were all out. The staff suggested I try their blueberry-chocolate scone, which was delish, and I chose to wash it down with a latte. The bevvy and treat were the perfect additions to great service and a mood-pleasing atmosphere. I may have shown up with a big "Eff-Off" sign plastered across my forehead, but by the time I left, I was mos' def. givin' off more of a "Yeah... that's right... A friend and I visited this Good Earth location the other day, each with our 2.5yr old twins. The guy who was working gave us incredible service - he was really friendly and engaging with the 4 kids and made watching their hot chocolates being made an extra fun experience for them. I felt he (Mo El-Kerm) really went out of his way to give us excellent service. read more

Good coffee in a clean and welcoming store. I've always been a fan of Good Earth's and this location does not disappoint. If you want a good cup of joe or a good latte, you will not be disappointed. The staff there are very nice and keep the store in a good clean state. If you like coffee or nice pastries you won't be disappointed. read more

I like good Earth, and I like this location. Food is generally quite good, and service excellent. But I'm giving them a two, because they had one person working today, on a busy Tuesday afternoon. She was run off her feet, although she did a fantastic job. people waited with your food and drinks, completely unnecessary when there are many looking for employment. read more

Wandered in about 2:30 yesterday afternoon. 2 staff members were tidying up. I stood in their sight line and didn't get so much as a hello or any sort of acknowledgement. Stood there for a good 5 minutes and both looked at me and didn't seem to care I was there. I cleared my throat and one of them looked up from their sink of dishes, and then back down. I usually like Good Earth cafes despite it being a franchise. I came here and asked the friendly old lady if I could use my Good Earth loyalty card. She said yes and asked who I presume is the owner (short stocky curly hair man) if there was a stamper that she could use. He proceeded to tell her they don't take those anymore and stated that they were outdated from over 2 years ago. Not once when he was talking did he acknowledge me or looked my way to explain to me personally. It felt really awkward since I was standing in front of him the entire time, so he knew it was me who was asking about the loyalty card. Something about the manner in which he addressed the situation felt awkward and slightly dishonest. I had used the card in the same location less than half a year ago, so I know it wasn't outdated from 2 years ago. I didn't want to fight so I let him take my loyalty card without arguing. But based on this interaction, I know I won't be back to this location. There's many other better coffee shop options downtown. read more

Worst coffeehouse and customer service I have experienced at a cafe in Calgary. With no other customers in line, the staff refused to fill my son's water cup with tap water. All she had to do is turn around, and turn on the tap for 5 seconds. In addition, the previous times I've ordered a hot chocolate there it's made watery and lukewarm. When I asked for a replacement hot chocolate, the replacement drink was watery also. This is my first yelp complaint ever, but the Eau Claire Good Earth Cafe has earned this negative review over the years. read more

I was very disappointed this morning when I ordered my usual drip coffee (and the waitress even remembered that I am lactose intolerant and use rice milk), but then proceeded to charge me $0.90 extra for it! What? - $0.90 for an ounce of "creamer" for my coffee. That is unconscionable. You do a good business from those of us who run with the Eau Claire Running Room, who gather here post-run. I continue to come here for that reason, despite your limited gluten/dairy free food options, but this is unacceptable. I can appreciate having to spend more for a latte made with rice milk, (I think Starbucks charges $0.60 for that) but to add creamer to my coffee at $0.90 an ounce is very disappointing for those of us who have no choice but to use specialty milk products. Your lack of accommodation is well noted to myself and my running group. read more
