Heather has groomed my now 11 year old toy poodle for years. We have trusted her and always been happy with how my poodle turned out. She never seemed extra stressed when we picked her up. It seemed to be a great situation (the only thing was I never saw Heather when i dropped off and picked up my dog, that was always odd, but i figured she was busy). Anyway, we got a new toy poodle puppy recently. She was 12 weeks old and we figured it was a good time to get her acclimated to the grooming experience. We specifically said our toy poodle (3 lbs at the time) was only 12 weeks old, this was her very first groom. We asked for her to be bathed, trimmed around her face, feet, sanitary area *as tolerated.* We were told our puppy was aggressive, had to be held down by 3 people (remember, 3 lb puppy). She hadn't been completely potty trained at the time, still tried to mouth at hands, was teething, wasn't the best behaved, so I believed it and was embarrassed for my puppy's behavior, over a bath! I had bathed our puppy probably 6 times already since we got her, I had scissor trimmed around her face, brushed her often and even trimmed her nails before. We were completely shocked upon picking up our little puppy she had a completely full groom. Shaved feet, shaved face, very short hair all over, shaved butt - didn't even look like our puppy at all. It was definitely not a puppy trim *as tolerated.* Now we understand why our puppy got so scared and stressed that she lashed out, fight or flight response. She had never been groomed before, she must have been terrified. Ever since then, our puppy is a different dog. She now is very anxious about everything. She had such a bubbly, joyful, easy-going personality. Now she is scared, fearful about so much. We have her in private training now, and the trainer has said she is scared of anything and we have to work in baby steps to even give her a bath again. I am devastated that my now 14 week old, 3.5 lb puppy has been traumatized. We trusted Heather for years with my older toy poodle. We thought she was the best groomer. It is never appropriate to hold down a 12 week old puppy to shave her completely. I wish she would have stopped, so that our puppy would have happy associations with grooming. 2 stars because we really did trust Heather for years, with my most prized possession, a family member. 2 stars because now that trust is broken, our 12 week old puppy was restrained, looks like a different dog, and has a completely new anxious/stressed personality when handled by strangers. read more

I don't know who groomed my little diva chihuahua-terrier mix, Ms. Harli this morning, but he or she did an absolutely amazing job with her. I have to admit, it had been a little too long between baths for her. I truly appreciate they were willing to fit her in right away and although I did not accompany Ms. Harli this time, my husband was impressed by the friendliness and kindness of the staff. Thank you for a wonderfully positive experience. Mostly thank you for your love and kindness, especially towards the animals - as that's supposed to be what it's all about. We will be back. My updated review. Second time in a year they did not adhere to my requests. Very simple leave his ears long his body and head hair same length DO NOT express anal glands!!!! Whoever did his cut SUCKED. They cut his ear hair they shaved his belly hair so thin and high he looks ridicules either they injured his anus by the razor they used or by squeezing is glands. He did not Poop for 2 days. Then they tried blaming it on me. This is my baby how dare you say this hair cut and his sore on his anus is my fault. XERO STARS. the owner refused to correct this or have someone apologize and accidentally texted me thinking it was a workers number. That was a dumb move!!' read more

My dog was injured there. They would not let me see the cameras but he was accused of trying to bite for the first time in all the years of going there and no reason as to why was given. He came home and bruising and protruding internal eye tissue was evident. The vet said it was blunt force trauma to the eye. I was not offered any explanation until the fourth communication after the pickup and after it was known that we were at the vet and what the vet was saying. Then, Heather said he had had a nosebleed. The vet said there was no indication of a nosebleed whatsoever. Even if this has been factual, why was the groom not stopped and the owner, me, called? Why was it not mentioned until after several calls post vet visit? There was no compassion or concern shown for my dog or me on this day or afterwards. We had been going there for years. Pay a few extra dollars and take your dog elsewhere. This was the saddest of situations. I don't want another animal to go through this. read more

I have taken my long haired cats for grooming for several years now and they do a wonderful job! The lion cut is my preference and they really do it well! My cats never appear traumatized and it's so nice not to have fur everywhere! Highly recommend read more

I had a surprising incident occur a few weeks ago at this establishment. I had made an appointment to have my dog groomed. The appointment was at 9 am. With every other groomer I have been to, they say drop your dog off by a certain time in the morning and we will call you when we're done. I got an early start on this day and showed up at 8:15. Heather says who do we have here? I said Addison. She said "Oooh". I immediately felt like I had broken the law or something. She said her appointment is not until 9:00. I was shamed. How dare I show up early. She informed me that I would need to come back at 8:30 or pay an additional $15. I was stunned. You mean to tell me that if I don't leave and come back in 15 minutes, I have to add $15 to my bill? I was the first one there. There were no other dogs there. I was confused. I could not believe this girl was going to let me walk out the door to go find something to do for 15 minutes and then come back. I left, drove around for 15 minutes and went back. By the time I got back, Heather was in the back already working on another dog. (I'm assuming that customer paid the extra $15 since she was also there before 8:30) By the way she was yelling at it, it was obvious that she didn't hear me ringing the bell. At this point I did not even want to leave Addison, but I didn't want to go home, make another appointment and wait another couple of days to get in somewhere else. Upon leaving I noticed a sign stating if you do not pick up your pet within 45 minutes of them calling you to let you know they are done, you will also pay an additional $15 fee for that. LOL Are you kidding? Needless to say I felt nervous and rushed to get back up there once I received the call. lol Unbelievable. So if you are more than 30 minutes early and if you don't get there within 45 minutes of them calling you when finished, you can count on an additional $30 added to your bill. BTW, you can imagine that Heather is not very friendly. read more

Excellent service! They did such an amazing job with my dog. Nails were nicely trimmed, ear hairs were plucked, and he had a great haircut! Definitely will be coming back. They also did everything within an hour. I took my pup to petsmart before I found Good Dog Legacy, and Petsmart did a terrible job and it took them 3 hours to do it. So I know what a bad job looks like. Thank goodness I found Good Dog Legacy! read more

He adores Nicole - and everyone here has been loving, sweet and skilled in their care of our dogs. I love the new location - though it's a tad further to drive than the Downtown Covington location - the new digs are awesome - combining grooming with first class daycare in a pet friendly environment that takes into consideration stimulation, room to play and the general well-being of each animal. The sad part is that I can only offer 5 stars because Good Dog Legacy deserves WAY MORE stars!!!! Good Dog Legacy is as good as it gets!!! Their staff is very compassionate!! They take their time and listen thoroughly to the client to help pick the best food for their dogs. Good Dogs Legacy's approach is totally holistic and I greatly appreciate their care, kindness and professionalism. My beautiful canine, Lagniappe, will only go to The Scrubby Puppy, which is part of Good Dog Legacy. My sweet Lagniappe was traumatized at a big box pet store's grooming facility. I really didn't think that she would ever be able to be professionally groomed by anyone because of her panic attacks. For quite a few years, Lagniappe has been going to The Scrubby Puppy and they never, ever place them in cages nor do they use hands-free dryers with them. Once the grooming is finished, they are free to go home. This has greatly helped and this is what keeps my girl going back time and time again!! My girl LOVES going to Good Dog Legacy!!! It's her favorite place of all time to visit!! When my girl walks through the door, she is treated like a queen. Her grooming is more like a spa treatment. They truly indulge my sweet Lagniappe to the best during her time at the Scrubby Puppy!!!! I've witnessed them as they are working with other dogs and they truly love what they are doing with these sweet canines!!
