This was a complex project where we had to remove a lot of existing mixed flooring, deal with leveling costs creatively and work around our family while we lived in the space. All of the flooring and baseboard install was done incredibly well. We knew that we needed an expert to complete the job without the risk of damaging them. We had a difficult decision to make and for this project, we obtained 7 quotes. After looking into each of the companies through the CSLB website, we found out that only four of them had a valid contractors license. We felt very comfortable with George, the owner of Jace. He has vast knowledge of hardwood floors with years of experience, has a friendly demeanor, and is a fellow dog rescuer. One of the other reviews mentions a customer's satisfaction with Jace's refinishing of their 100 years old floors. Though his quote was not the lowest, we chose quality over price. And we are so happy we did. Carlos, the lead tech on our project is also very knowledgeable and approachable. He answered all of our questions, and explained everything they were doing throughout the various stages of the process. Carlos's assistant, Jair is friendly and a hard worker. After the work was completed, Mike came to inspect the work, and grout the transition from our Dining Room to our kitchen. I didn't even have to ask them to do this. George suggested it to replace the ugly molding that was previously there, and on which we would frequently stub our toes. Mike returned a second time to drop off a complementary Bona cleaning kit. From the initial Yelp request to the finish of our project, George and his team were stellar, exceeding our expectations. Our floors look amazing, as if they were newly installed! I would recommend them to everyone in need of hardwood floor installation/refinishing/repairs. It is their specialty and their business name says so. Check out their work on Instagram @jace_floors

First there is Fred, Neema and family at the showroom who together made the whole experience worry free. Their knowledge and expertise in the products was obvious. Once narrowing our options down, Neema and Fred both stopped by as scheduled to measure the space and provide recommendations while also dropping off samples to visualize. Both stated multiple times, there is no rush, take your time. Once we locked down Fred stated the material should be ready for install in 2 weeks and beat the date. Once the material was ready, next up was installation. Neema called to ensure our questions on install were answered and like clockwork, Manuel and the team showed up ahead of time and installed our flooring with precision. What amazed us was that throughout the process, Manuel checked in multiple times to make sure we were up to date on the work. Install was unbelievably professional and the post install cleanup was impressive. No dirt or anything left behind. Only a phenomenal floor that only made us question why we waited so long. Multiple times at the end of install and the next day, both Manuel and Neema stated that if we had any questions to just call. So how good are these guys? The next morning Neema called to check in and asked if he could stop by to verify the work and our satisfaction. Our response - Wow. This team is awesome as every step throughout the process was calm and easy. Next time the only choice is "1st Choice Flooring Kitchen and Bath". Thank you all for a fantastic job and amazing floor.

I want to reiterate my original review of MAC Flooring & Interiors. Once again, they were absolutely excellent from beginning to end. The quality of their work, their professionalism, and the care they took with my home were every bit as good as my first experience with them. It is wonderful to find a company that delivers the same excellent service when you use them again. I would not hesitate to use MAC Flooring & Interiors in the future, and I highly recommend them.

If a friend were considering MAC for a home project, I would strongly discourage them…read more We hired MAC to replace our downstairs floors after a positive showroom experience. Tanner showed us Bjelin flooring that was gorgeous, exactly what we wanted. It was a relatively new product, but he spoke confidently about its durability. When he came to measure, I specifically showed our 15-year-old kitchen tile, which had become badly dinged over time, and asked if the new flooring would eventually look the same. I emphasized that durability was #1 to us. He assured me this flooring was exceptionally durable and would not end up looking like that. We received another quote about $2k less, but chose MAC because we expected a smoother project with them if anything went wrong. Sadly, that was not our experience. The product we were sold is not right for our family, and there were also problems with installation, communication, workmanship, and care of our home. Before the project began, I asked about protecting our cabinets and window shutters from construction dust. I was told by email and by project manager Matt that I didn't need to do anything because the crew would handle it. They did not. Only the kitchen cabinets were covered. When we returned home, dust was everywhere inside built-ins and bathroom cabinets and all over the shutters. I spent significant time cleaning and had our housecleaners help at an additional cost. Matt said a lockbox would be used for our key. Instead, I found our key sitting outside next to a planter. He also said he would meet me on the first morning to walk through everything. I waited, but no one came or even contacted me. They also showed little care for our property. They left large chunks of wood and sawdust throughout our yard and poured leftover concrete along the side of our house, onto our stepping-stone walkway and around plants where our children play. And then there was the workmanship. When we returned home, we found: * Multiple noticeable scratches on our new flooring * A dishwasher that could not open because the toe kick was too tall * A big hole in the drywall from demo * A large gap in another section of toe kick * The kitchen toe kick painted the wrong color * Missing hearth trim because they had ordered the wrong length * Finishing trim that took multiple visits to complete * Drain stopper of our newly installed bathroom faucet was broken and hidden * Our couch feet reinstalled incorrectly with stripped screws, requiring us to pay the couch company to repair them It took 6 days after I reported the dishwasher issue before they came back to remove the toe kick, meaning I couldn't use my dishwasher for nearly a week. The plumber they sent also hooked the dryer up incorrectly, so it was venting humidity back into our house. We were charged literally $900 for this work. When I brought up the broken drain stopper with Matt, he said his crew hadn't done it, but would cover the replacement. We had to contact the manufacturer, learn the stopper couldn't be purchased separately, and replace it ourselves. The lack of accountability was a recurring theme. When Kristin walked through the problems, she acknowledged some poor workmanship, but there was no recognition of the inconvenience this project had caused. And the flooring itself has been the biggest disappointment. We don't wear shoes in our house, put area rugs throughout the downstairs, every piece of furniture has thick felt pads, and we are extremely careful not to drag anything across the floor. Yet I discover new scratches daily. My children cannot even play normally with ANY toys on the floor without scratching it. The installation was supposed to take one week. Instead, the crew returned at least six additional times for repairs, mistakes, unfinished work, and corrections. It was summer and each time they came back was a morning I couldn't take my kids out to do something fun. The last few visits were particularly telling. MAC sent a guy who was already leaving the company to repaint the kitchen toe kick. He determined it needed primer, but instead told me to prime and paint it myself. I followed his instructions, but paint and primer leaked under the tape because it wasn't properly sealed. I then spent HOURS cleaning paint off our brand-new floors--something I never should have been responsible for. We expected a high level of care and professionalism for an $18,000+ project. Instead, we felt our home, time, and concerns were repeatedly treated as inconveniences. We trusted MAC to recommend a product that would work for our family after I specifically raised durability as a concern. We now have an expensive floor that requires constant babying and continues to scratch despite our care.

They took such care in my home and were so respectful and efficient! They assisted with some installation questions I had and got right to work. They were so careful moving my furniture around and I was so touched that they made sure my bed area was cleared at the end of their upstairs workdays so I didn't have to sleep on the couch. We did feel 12 bags of self leveling concrete was excessive when it looked like it was only used on a few corners of the room in a job less than 900 sq feet. Unfortunately one of the stair nosing broke within a couple weeks of install. Rafi was responsive in redoing the stairs stating it was a manufacturing defect and that the new version is stronger. Unfortunately the second team quality of work was very poor. They left holes in our walls that were patched poorly with plaster. Worst of all the stairs were apparently nailed to the subfloor and after a few weeks they started to rise leaving little holes and nails protruding from the floor. A few of the stair noses are loose as well. At this point, Rafi became unresponsive to have the flooring fixed. We ended up getting some of our money back through our credit card after months went by but the majority of the payment was by check. Basically we will need to replace the stairs again on our own dime. Buyer beware! Lifetime warranty doesn't mean anything if the installer ghosts you.
