    Good hot dog! With ketchup
    Jennifer P.

Good Boys is so cute! This is one of those places we had passed several times on our way out of Wilmington. We decided to stop this last time we were headed back into town. It's about an hour outside of Wilmington. During the summer hours, it's open from 11am-5pm. When we drove up, we found it's literally a small yellow and red shack behind a house! Adorable! This little old lady was working there. She answered all of our questions, and she was very nice. The hot dogs are all beef hot dogs, and you can pick your toppings. Each hot dog is $3.50. A little pricy for a single hot dog, but it's worth it for the cute place. After you order, you pull a few feet up, and she will bring you your order. Like I said, a little pricy for a hot dog, but we'd been wanting to try it forever, and I'm glad we did!

What a cute place. I logged into Yelp on my journey to NC just in time for this place to be one of the closest stops. Situated behind a residence, you can pull up, order a bag of chips and a drink and wait on a classic hotdog from a family business. I had a chili dog with slaw and mustard, and while it was nothing fancy-it was quick, tasted great, and the lady that served it could not have been nicer. They only take cash, but this is worth the stop!

She uses a smaller bun for the BBQ but wow its stacked. I ordered the 2/ $5 and Chrissy the combo for 6.50 Filled us up.

If you want to save time, order online on their website, which I would do next time, but I would question if they would be able to complete it in a timely fashion. Didn't look like they had tons of staff available, looked slow -understandably it was their first day but still. Food took about 23 minutes. There is covered outdoor seating but limited. One high chair available. Burgers don't come with fries so you'll have to order that for an additional cost. There are also sides of tater tots, sweet potato fries, cheese fries, salad, or a combo of sides. Ordered the Mookie, which comes with Wisconsin, blue marble cheese, bacon onion jam, and roasted garlic aioli and a side of sweet potato fries. Cashier asked how I wanted the burger meat cooked. There are a few different dipping sauces for the fries-I went with the Winnie sauce. Regular Fries are crinkle cut and sweet potato fries are thin cut. Sweet potato were seasoned with sugar and the Winnie sauce was a sweet creamy dip. Wish they told me the Winnie sauce was sweet, otherwise, I would have chose another sauce. At least the sweet potato fries were crispy. Burger had good flavor overall, but the bun was cold, whereas the burger meat was piping hot. I liked the chunky bacon onion jam (chopped big onion pieces) and garlic aioli. Burger meat was overcooked for my medium request.

I even walked over a mile to get there... so if this burger was bad, I was going to have a very long, disappointing walk back. Thankfully, that wasn't a problem. I ordered the double cheeseburger Carolina-style with chili, slaw, mustard, and onions. A Carolina-style burger... in Carolina Beach. It just felt right. First of all, this thing was HUGE. The beef was incredibly well seasoned with those crisp, lacy edges. The chili had just enough sweetness, the mustard brought the perfect tang, and the onions added that fresh crunch. Then there's the toasted potato bun--still the undisputed champion of burger buns--and the perfectly melted cheese holding this glorious mess together. What makes this place even cooler is that it started in a gas station back in 2017. Now it's one of the most talked-about burger spots around. It's considered by many to be the third best burger in North Carolina and after one bite, I completely understand why. Sometimes the best food comes from the places you'd least expect. Despite being busy, the food came out surprisingly fast, and the staff kept things moving without missing a beat. Final score: 9.8/10. This officially takes the #1 spot on the Ev's Eats Best Burger List... for now. Every burger from here on out has a new standard to chase. #CarolinaBeach #IslandBurgersAndBites #NorthCarolinaEats #NCEats NCFood
