The communication at this office is terrible. Phone calls are not returned, promised callbacks never happen, and emails go unanswered. Six months after my son had an appointment where no treatment was performed, I was contacted by email from Mellisa Jiron stating I owe hundreds of dollars. I also had to wait 20 minutes past the appointment time. Very frustrating experience. I see other reviews with the same experience. DO NOT COME HERE!!!! They need phones that record when patients call because Mellisa Jiron and the receptionists are calling me a liar when I have every single time I called and none one returned my calls or email. I would give this place a 0 if yelp allowed it. I now know why there was no one there when I was there because this place sucks!! read more

We took our daughter to Good Beginnings since she had some developmental issues and she is doing great now. Her therapist was extremely knowledgable and put together a therapy plan for her to meet her goals. The office staff were helpful with all of our scheduling/billing questions. We would highly recommend the Good Beginnings team if your child is in need of services. read more

The PT itself was fine, but the billing policies are INSANE. My daughter was sick and, out of courtesy to the staff and other clients, I cancelled our appointment. BUT you can only cancel one appointment every 6 months or they charge you $100. Technically, you can reschedule to avoid the penalty, but they are always fully booked, so good luck with that. Oh, and you have to have the same day/time for your entire time with them, so it's not like your own schedule can vary at all. Hope you don't need to go out of town for the holidays! We have been going to good beginnings for almost a year and we loved our therapist Jeannette. However the Billing department is out of their mind! I received an invoice and emailed to inquire about it. I was told that there was a glitch in the system and it was sent out by error and to disregard. Okay fast forward to now, I get another invoice for $100 for canceling an appointment a week prior in advance. It was my husbands birthday and we took a family vacation. I emailed about the invoice and was "reminded" of the attendance policy as if this is SCHOOL and or REQUIRED by law for him to attend. Not to mention my son is 8 and high functioning but has to miss of total of 3hrs EVERY WEEK of school to come to OT and speech. Which he also gets these services in school. On top of that Melissa from the billing department thought it was her duty to tell me what was BEST for MY CHILD! I don't know about any of the other families but both me and my husband work and don't have the luxury of just taking off or rearranging our schedules around. When we first started at good beginnings my son was going 2x a week.. after a week or so, the therapist suggested just 1x a week because he doesn't really need it, so why would I schedule a makeup and have 2 sessions in one week causing him to miss out on even more EDUCATIONAL time? And again I have a job and so does my husband. Is good beginnings gonna write me a check for missed time at work since Melissa thinks its best that my child's attendance is more important? In this economy $100 makes a huge difference in some families. I am beyond disgusted at Melissa and the billing department that I have canceled all future services and I dare to receive an invoice! This place should have more transparency on patent portion of the bill. We asked them what would be out of the pocket fee before occupational therapy treatments on my son. They said they had good relationship with Kaiser Permanente, and it should be covered mostly. By the way, we have good health insurance coverage. Each session was approximately $125. Kaiser paid $20 and we had to pay $105 for each session. The bill came after 10 sessions, and we ended up paying approximately $1,000. We weren't informed about the coverage, and we felt that we were cheated. I don't understand why they waited until 10 sessions to bill me. My son went there once a week. That was after two and a half months. I sat through and watched these sessions. Occupational therapy treatments were okay. No extraordinary! Honestly, I didn't see any improvements in my son after two and a half months. My suggestion is: Don't go to Good Beginnings. Watch some training videos on YouTube and buy equipment. Train your kids at home. read more

The physical therapy we received for my grandson has been the highest quality. Our therapist Amy understood what his muscles needed, and is leading him step by step in successfully gaining strength and mobility. Our therapist related very appropriately to young children using play, positive relationship, and positive reinforcement to motivate them. She always communicated and showed parents what they could do at home to help. Physical therapy at Good Beginnings has dramatically improved the quality of life and success of my grandson. read more

I've taken my daughter here for ADHD and my son here for sensory challenges. The therapists at Good Beginnings were all super fantastic and devoted to the kids. They gained so much confidence, and they both have a better understanding of themselves and are more comfortable with themselves as people despite their challenges and sensitivities. We've integrated some of the methods into our household and they enjoy talking about their emotions and how to manage them. The office is cute and comfortable. It is also down the hall from a great speech therapist in case you need that support too. We all loved it there! read more

Therapist was wonderful. Billing people and cancelation policy is awful. The provider cancelled appointment: they charge a cancelation fee. Kid had positive covid test? They charge you a fee (even if you call to cancel). Cancel a week in advance? Still a cancelation fee. read more

I am giving GB a great because of the dedication and support we received from Tobi Mufutau-Lediju- our long time occupational therapist. She has been a foundational adult for my daughter and provided consistency and encouragement in the most challenging of times. We have been with GB for a number of years - both of my daughters have seen OTs at this practice - some are better connecting with children and developing goals than others, it is not always consistent. Miss Tobi was our youngest daughter's second OT at this practice and frankly the best one we've had yet. She has always been responsive, compassionate, a resource for any questions and listens and makes valuable recommendations for home and school. GB's billing department has been flexible in working with us throughout the years to ensure that either our insurance can pay, or we have a payment plan in place. Rescheduling can be a bit of a pain as it may be difficult to find the right days/times for make ups. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Amy at the Bowel and Bladder Clinic. She has changed our life for the better. We were in a 20+ month long battle with my daughter withholding stool. We had been hospitalized and waited months for "specialists" who offered no advice and chalked it up to behavior. Ironically, nothing about her behavior outside of pooping was off. We walked into Dr. Amy's office and within an hour, we had more answers and a plan than we had in the 20 months prior. I literally cried on the way home because I couldn't believe I had been right, that this wasn't my daughter being manipulative and bad. We noticed measurable change within 2 visits. We went weekly and took all the advice we were given. We were diligent about the exercises and when we got pushback from our daughter on some of the things we had to do, Dr. Amy came to our rescue with tools and got us right back on track. I wish 10 stars was an option for this review because this practice has corrected our problems and my daughter is a totally different kid now that she isn't constantly constipated, in pain and on medicines that weren't addressing the cause of the problem. If you are struggling, the wait time to get in, the drive (if you have one, ours was 90 minutes each way) and any out-of-pocket costs(our insurance covered almost all of it) will be totally worth it, if you are willing to partner with the doctors and your child. read more

I had a very good experience with Jessica Toth at Good Beginnings. My daughter had stranger anxiety for the duration of our appointment, and was crying and difficult to work with, but Jessica was extremely patient, so so sweet to her, and kind, as well as informative for me. She was all of these things in the face of a crying baby...I was very impressed, and would recommend her any time. The facility is a little run down as they spread out into rooms they usually wouldn't use to keep children apart due to Covid, but the care from Jessica overcame that. read more

This place and their billing/procedures are ridiculous!!! Upon scheduling my child for PT, intake paperwork is required to keep an appointment. (That's fair)! However, I submitted TWICE the 30-45 min long intake forms and received confirmation of my submission. Irvin reached out several times via email, informing me each time it was not received on their end! After expressing how frustrated I was, and concerned where my private health information got sent. Was directed to speak to practice manager- Lara; stated she would look into the database but if not found there's no alternative for processing a new patient. Because they do not have a waiting area, they're not like a typical medical practice. The practice has now sent an email confirming they do not see the paperwork and because I've expressed frustration they don't believe they are the best fit for MY CHILD to receive any care with GB! She also went on to mention how no one else has ever had an issue with their process. Yet, originally THEIR system wasn't able to process my credit card for $1, which is required upon scheduling as well. I had to reschedule and provide the credit card once their system was working again. This place is not somewhere I want to give MY BUSINESS to, they're more for the business than the welfare of your child. I read the reviews anyways, the BILLING department is mostly what's been mentioned in all negative reviews Lara! So both thumbs down for this clinic and how they operate! Good Beginnings is focused far more on billing than children - there are much better OT practices out there! This is my first yelp review that I am writing with the sole intention of helping other parents. Our experience with Good Beginnings was incredibly reactive and far more focused on billing than helping my child. Good beginnings was out of network for our insurance, but I was resigned to the incredible costs if it meant helping my child. However, I assumed that in exchange for these costs, we would receive a high quality of care -- or at a minimum -- care commensurate with professional standards, but we certainly did not. We received a cursory assessment that never identified how OT would address my son's unique challenges. Our assigned therapist was never engaged in listening to our concerns or fully understanding the root cause of our child's issues. When I reached out to her requesting that she speak with my child's teachers and speech therapist (who were concerned and had recommended we seek OT), she was curt and dismissive, but of course was keen to advise me that she would have to charge me for any phone calls. Our therapist never adequately communicated how the therapy was addressing or would address our child's most imminent challenges. Indeed, I'm not sure she really understood his challenges - or even cared to. I completely understand the therapists' candidness about fees. Their time is their commodity. I just wish they were as good communicating about how they were helping my son as they were about communicating their billable rates. When I addressed these concerns with office management - I received a check the box "thank you for your input" and then shortly after received a bill for $1000 (for three appointments and 1 assessment), and a warning that there is a 7% fee if your bill is late just 30-days. No one ever reached out to me, even though I offered to talk through my concerns with the hope that other parents don't feel the hopelessness we did with this practice. When you find out your child has special needs, and you are willing to sacrifice family finances to get them the help they need, you are in a vulnerable position for so many reasons. When you are in this position, the last thing you need is to be treated the way Good Beginnings treated my family. The good news is we are getting my son the help he needs with a proactive therapist at another practice that is invested in helping him, not just in over billing us. read more
