I brought my 2005 Jaguar into Mr. Gonzalez shop a couple weeks ago to have the headliner in the car replaced. We agreed on a cost but because there were just a couple miner setback's, regarding the time it was taking to complete the job, and his helper not showing up, he was by himself. I understand it's a time consuming job and so for the most part I understood but it was during thanksgiving where I really needed my car. No ones fault except the helper who didn't show up I guess.., anyway in the end it turned out pretty good, and Mr. Gonzales, was gracious enough and offered an appropriate discount considering the extra time it took and miscommunications. He's a good man and he works hard to complete the job, correctly. That fact is not lost on me. Take your upolstry needs to him, you won't regret it! This man is a thief, I paid him 5,000 down payment to re-upholster my leather couch he put on the wrong Leather. He put on pLeather and had to do it over again. I kept coming down there. He hadn't started on the work , years went by. Do you know he kept my $5000 and my my Leather!! if I was you, I would not trust this man with nothing. And then he had nerves to move on me. It took me another year and a half to find him went to court and due to statute of limitations. he kept my furniture and he took stole my $ 5,000, no he did not try to fix the situation. I'm updating my review..... I discovered the next day, the drivers inside door panel is not all together attached as it was before. Now, there's 2 broken pieces and a section missing which should be hidden inside the door panel not visible from the outside. Also, on the drivers side seat, a plastic square component at the left side of the seat doesn't lock in place anymore. It appears to snap together with teeth but it comes apart when I set on the seat. I'm happy about the upholstery however, not happy about these new issues. Its a double edge sword; as car parts are not an easy to manipulate as wood and fabric on a frame. Things break. read more

There's a reason this upholstery shop is ridiculously busy. They are pros. I left 2 mid century chairs with the shop and had an idea to put a different fabric on the seat when they were re-covering it and fixing the cushion. Instead they delivered my chairs looking like the vintage original condition - having turned the fabric around to use the very same fabric which makes the chairs a lot more valuable. The bottom of the chair looks great too, with a new cover. So glad I invested in this for the same price a chair designer had offered to buy the chairs themselves. The little shop (or warehouse really) is near 880, easy off the freeway in an industrial area. There were a few days where Juan was hard to reach but he was always super sweet, professional, and someone I trusted with our heirloom chairs. read more

We bought a brand new sectional and the leather on the chaise was wrinkled. After waiting over 6 months for the sectional, we were reluctant to have it picked up and redone by the furniture company. I just had Raoul and his team make two window cushions for my new kitchen banquet. Raoul came to my house to measure and brought samples to pick out. I already had a Sunbrella fabric in mind. After talking it through with Raoul, we came to the conclusion that the fabric will work nicely and he was able to order it. Raoul delivered the cushions to my house in a timely manor; and again, the construction was top notch. He included an interior muslin around the foam so I can remove the covers and wash them. Everything looks great and the price was great, as well. I called about 10 places. Some places quoted double what Gonzalez Upholstery quoted me. I found one other Upholstery shop in SF who's quote was comparable, which made me comfortable going with my local, Gonzalez Upholstery. He gave me an accurate time estimate, let me pick out the material from a sample book that he carries with his truck, and took the item. After the specified time period, he returned the item with the repair done as specified plus more. He worked on the wood and made an additional repair which was sorely needed. Now that my cats are gone, I wanted to repair the couch without reupholstering the entire couch. Raoul was able to take the fabric from the back, and use it to repair the arm. I'm so glad I found this place. Raoul was extremely professional and polite. He did a great job reupholstering my wingback chair, and the price was very reasonable. He came all the way from Oakland to SF to pick up and deliver the chair! He even carried it up 2 flights of stairs into my apt for me. Raul perfectly restored some mid-century Danish chairs doing both the fabric and cushions. We also inherited some antique chairs that he beautifully restored preserving the historic look and feel of the chairs but updating the padding and upholstery fabric. Those chairs are, to me, the most comfortable chairs in our house. Raul came by the house to pick up our furniture and redelivered them a few days later.
