I called to get a quote and was given a lower price than another local towing company I had called so decided to have them send someone out to my rescue lol James arrived in less than 30 minutes and shared some info about flat tires that I did not know. He helped me by moving my car for me as I was too anxious to drive the flat closer to the truck to get it mounted. He worked quickly and then delivered me and my car to the nearest tire repair shop where he stayed on stand by to make sure I got things sorted out. Overall James was very personable which made a stressful situation less stressful and I appreciate that! Disappointed in the unreasonable price of the tow of my vehicle after an accident coming into Santa Cruz. The dangerous loop at the end of the exit leading into ocean Street around 0.6miles to destination. When CHP asked the price because he wanted to make sure I would be able to cover it. Tte driver from Gonzales towing said 350 that's our flat rate because he came out of the way as if he'd come from out of town. I assumed he was but later while in route he mentioned they were located in Santa Cruz. Then my brother called to see about payment through their office and was given a rate of 200 Dollars. When my vehicle was unloaded and parked in my designated parking spot, which I was grateful he was able to do instead of just dropping it off on the street like he was going to do because of the inconvenience of my gated parking area that he said he couldn't fit his truck in. " It was big enough" with no outside distractions and it was time for payment my brother asked him why he was giving me a now estimated price of 325 when the office said 200 he stuttered something out about the flat rate of an hours work. So basically he charged us the time it took him to get ready to drive out to us all the way from out of the way as he told CHP to the deposit of my vehicle at my property in downtown Santa Cruz. It's disappointing when people want to run a business on unethical practices on hard working individuals who are in an emergency situation and expect anyone to want to work with them in the future. read more

At the time of this review, the CZU Lightning complex has caused various fires in the surrounding area. My girlfriend and I were stranded at her work because her car wasn't starting. Despite us having AAA Towing services, they notified us they could NOT tow our car (which I notified them was our only car deeming this an emergency for us...) due tow the fires. Luckily, we were connected with Gonzalez Towing. Amid all the chaos they were the only ones who showed up to help us, and I'm thankful for that. Our driver came wearing a mask (as a response to COVID) and was super friendly. He went out of his way to give his opinion on the problem of the car (he was correct...dead battery). Instead of towing, he gave us a jumpstart and recommended next steps as to what we should do. I went to our local mechanic, followed the next steps, and was able to drive home. I can't thank him enough. He was the only who came out to help us during this crisis. NOW we have the opportunity to evacuate in case we need to...because now we have a working car. My parent's driveway washed out and carried their classic car down a slope to the road below. Picture a little toy car sitting on the top of a mud pile with downed trees, flowing water and debris blocking a two-way road. They carefully and quickly got it off the top of the pile, avoiding further damage as they loaded it, and delivered it to a safe place for us to clean it up and keep it safe from the second storm that was about to hit. They used an easy payment phone app and texted me and my parents the receipt. They were friendly and helpful through and through. read more

I locked my keys in my trunk of my 2017 Toyota, When the serviceman came out it took him about a minute to open the doors of the sedan, which is not unusual. They quoted me $50 on the phone and wanted sixty five dollars when he got there. Since I handed him 3 $20's which was all I had, he said $60. I think that is bate and switch and he hadn't even gotten my keys out of the trunk! I had to beg him to pull the back chair down to get in the trunk. It was easy really. Purposefully created a yelp account, just so I could write this review. I've never used this towing service and I will never use this towing service, because I have seen the awful driving of one of their employees. On Friday 7/14/17, I was on Hihn Road in Ben Lomond and this asshole was barreling down the road, as if he was driving a tiny sports car. He was on his phone and swerving all over the place. At one point, he went all the way into the opposite lane. It was horrifying and I wish that I had not been on a scooter or I most definitely would have called the cops on him. My sister in law got into an accident - her fault - and only had liability insurance, so her car damages were not covered. Gonzalez Towing picked up the car and took it to their lot. The car was totaled and a loss for my sister in law - who had no idea what to do with the car or how to get rid of it. No Stars! I live in San Jose , and decided to go to santa cruz with a friend of mine. We went to trader joe's to buy a few things and then we left my car and went to Target a few min away . When we got back to trader joe's Gonzalez towing was in the parking lot towing a few cars. We drove around and couldn't find my car so i stopped and asked to see if they had towed my car and they did! i couldn't imagine why it had been towed. Gonzalez towing works with panther Security which is the security that makes sure any car that hits two hours gets towed because the parking lot is a private parking lot. There are two small signs on top of a tall poll in this huge parking lot stating two hour parking. ALMOST $360 TO GET MY CAR BACK!!!! Anyway I had to go over to the Gonzalez towing location and when I got their I tried to explain to the man that I'm not from the area and didn't see the sign besides the fact that the security regulating the parking lot was nowhere to be found when I parked the car. As I'm trying to explain this the man running the place kept talking over me and so did the lady that was there, ( I'm guessing his wife) . When I asked to see their licensing they got defensive and the lady who didn't seem to work their starting saying that she works with the CHP and pointed to the truck and said that that was their licensing to do what they needed too. Anyway the couple got so offended that I asked to see their paperwork they told me that I had to calm down ( even though they were the ones talking over me and being unprofessional) or they would call the cops because their children were their . The lady said that she was trying to do me a favor so I had to talk to them nice. Any who I went the next day to pick up my car and paid $300 dollars just to get the car out. I cant even imagine how much money panther security and Gonzalez towing make off of towing cars in the trader joe parking lot. There was also a trader joe's employee parked their who said that he had just started working their and hadn't received his parking sticker. Had my car towed for the first time. I was very frustrated. I wanted to go nuts on those guys for taking my car. I read all of the laws on towing in Santa Cruz (http://www.codepublishing.com/ca/santacruz/html/santacruz10/santacruz1080.html). I went in to pick up my car in a defensive mode. Those guys kept it real with me. Jose was very human with me and talked with me about the industry. They were by the code 100% from their security measures, charges and proper display of all proper signs (which is a lot!). This dude Art was a tough guy but a nice guy and hooked me up with a bathroom even though I was ready to get hostile. I understand the frustration of the other commenter but I think we are just upset at the situation and projection. The G code is right and we shouldn't hate the player just because we hate the game. Got stuck. Called. Martin was on another job and couldn't get there for another hour and a half. We killed the time at a brewery in Scotts Valley and he called when he was 10 minutes away and met us by the car. Friendly and quick. Did what he said he'll do and charged what he originally said on the phone ($80). All in all, it suck to get stuck, but as far as Gonzalez, we were satisfied. read more
