We had our pool resurfaced and made the deep end shallower, along with new tile and coving. The works including installing a rail on the steps. He and his team were on it. Showed up like clockwork, clean, never left a mess at the end of the day, and thorough. They also were fast. His prices were very reasonable as well. We definitely got excellent workmanship. We had one slight problem with some leakage where they put the railing on the steps. He came back, no problem getting a hold of him, and fixed the problem quickly. He stands by his work. After getting 4 quotes I went with Gonzalez Pools and glad I did. Favian is a nice man and has decades of experience with pools and other concrete work. Our pool was damaged by fire and by having no filtration for quite awhile. Favian restored our tile, removed our old plaster, installed new trim tile, new lights and got our filter up and running again. We opted for Quartzscape plaster which best matched our previous plaster and it looks great. The crew has a lot of experience and it shows. They cleaned up the site well when they were finished. Favian was WONDERFUL! I chose him because of all the outstanding reviews on Angie's List, and because he was the least expensive out of at least five contractors who gave me estimates. I was not the easiest client to deal with. My pool was in very bad shape. I had cantilevered concrete coping, which had completely failed. And, the concrete decking adjacent to the pool had major cracks in it. Because of the coping failure, the tile had begun to pop off. And, the pool was badly in need of re-plastering, after over 30 years. There was also a built-in pool cover, which had to be removed, and a large recessed box for the pool cover had to be filled with concrete. And, the diving board had to be removed, which meant that the concrete below and surrounding the diving board had to be re-poured. I decided to use Bellecrete pre-cast coping, because I was concerned that if I replaced the cantilevered concrete coping, it was just going to fail again. The problem was that the pre-cast coping was not as thick as the concrete coping, so Favian had to build up the surface underneath where the pre-cast coping was going to be installed, so that the pre-cast coping was level with the existing concrete deck. And, getting the correct amount of overhang of the pre-cast coping was tricky, as well. At every step of the way, Favian consulted with me, to make sure that the work he was going to do would meet my needs and desires. And, at every step of the way, I was worried about how it was going to look. If you check out the YouTube videos on the re-plastering process, it's pretty scary. It looks like there is no possible way that it could ever result in a smooth finished plaster pool. But, Favian was at the site, actually working side-by-side his crew, every day. And, everything turned out beautifully. During the process, Favian discovered that my pool pump had gone bad. (I think I was told this by a prior pool service man, but didn't have the money to do anything about it.) He also discovered that my old pool man had done some work on the pool and spa valves that he did not tell me about, and that had been done incorrectly. (We found parts on the ground by the pool equipment, which should have been in the valves!) Favian replaced everything that needed to be repaired. Now, not only does my pool look beautiful, but it actually works the way it's supposed to. I swim laps, and I love the way the rounded edge and thickness of the coping feels, when I grab onto it. I bought a wetsuit (Synergy Endorphin) from Amazon.com, and I'm now able to use my pool (hopefully) year-round. In conclusion, I would recommend Favian and Gonzalez Pools without hesitation. Our 22x44 foot pool had cracks and leaks, and a broken skimmer. Gonzalez pools had the best estimate and was recommended highly by local pool supply stores. Mr. Gonzalez and crew did a fantastic job fixing the cracks ( many more than expected were found after the plaster was removed), put in a new skimmer, added an auto fill and a banister by the steps. He also put in new lights and brought our drains up to code. There was no increase in price with the extra cracks that needed repairing. He shown up on time, was easy and pleasant to work with and finished on time leaving everything neat and clean. Highly recommend him for this type of repair. He is very knowledgeable about pools All the other bids wanted to replace the few cracked or missing pool tiles because they could not be matched - a big expense. Mr. Gonzalez used the tiles from the skimmer where they did not need to match perfectly and saved me a bundle. read more

First, I want to echo the point made by several others: Mr. Favian Gonzalez is truly incredible! He looked over our project and provided a very competitive estimate, compared with 3 other companies. He was also the only company to offer a water-line tile cleaning service, which essentially restored our existing tile to a nearly new appearance. Finally, he offered to replace the severely worn sealant/grout between our pool coping and concrete deck. We decided to hire him, and he was ready to drain the pool that day; however, we decided to pushed the start date a few days to allow use of the pool over the weekend. Favian drained our pool on a Monday. On Tuesday, his crew stripped the old plaster. On Wednesday, he replastered and cleaned the tile. By Thursday afternoon, the pool was complete and we were adding water. Everyone involved was very respectful of our backyard and they all left the area neat and tidy at the end of the day. The final result exceeded our wildest expectations. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with Favian's involvement...he was always here and often "hands on" through the entire project. We brought in a total of 3 contractors to give us estimates, Favian seemed to be more knowledgeable and affordable. He also took more time to look everything over. After the pool was drained, he showed up with a full crew and had the old plaster removed and hauled away the same day. He then worked alone for, digging up a trench and installing a new return line, upgrading the electrical to GFCI, and installing a new LED light. Then he retiled the pool and brought in another crew to plaster. The entire job took less than two weeks. His work is top notch and we're really happy with how everything turned out.
