If you are a new patient, this office will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Once you're established, however, they will treat you terribly. The first time I called this office to make a cleaning and checkup appointment for my son, they offered me an appointment 7 months out. When I expressed surprise at how long it would take to get an appointment as a new patient, the receptionist took notice that we were new patients and suddenly came up with an appointment in less than 2 weeks. That should have told me all I needed to know about this office.
Making an appointment for anything aside from the next cleaning and checkup in 6 months is almost impossible unless you can wait 3 - 4 months. This past December, the dentist told me that my son should have sealants done on his newest molars. I asked whether it could wait until summer when he has more time available, and she said no, that it was something that should be done as soon as possible. As soon as possible for that office was April -- good thing it wasn't a cavity or something more pressing. Come April, my son came down sick, and I had to reschedule the sealant appointment. I was offered an appointment in August. I explained that the dentist said I should not wait that long. The receptionist became short and explained that there was nothing else she could do. I asked her whether she would please call us if there was any kind of cancellation. She agreed, but with an attitude that told me she would most definitely not be calling.
Sure enough, my son's next cleaning appointment rolled around in July before I was ever called for a sealant appointment. The dentist came out and explained - as if she had never said this to me before - that my son needed sealants done. I explained that she had told us this 6 months ago, but I was unable to get an appointment before the end of summer. She then told me that was more than fine. I reminded her that in December she said we should not wait. The dentist instantly became shrill and defensive. Much to my surprise, she shrieked like a teenaged girl, "I don't know what you want to me do! What do you want from me?!!" Embarrassed in front of a waiting room full of parents, I calmly explained that I thought she might like some insight into the scheduling difficulties her patients were having. Again, she whined, "I don't know what you want me to do!!???" And then she suggested we find another dentist. I was shocked and embarrassed.
We had been loyal to her practice, coming routinely for cleanings and exams, always paying our bills, and treating everyone with respect. for more than 2 years I did not deserve that treatment that day -- and in front of my son.
On the way home, my son reported that he had been made to feel uncomfortable though his entire cleaning appointment by the hygienist. She had berated him for food that was found in his braces. My son tried to explain that he had just gotten his braces on the week prior, was still getting the hang of a thorough cleaning, and had not had a chance to floss after lunch prior to the appointment. My son is an 11 year old boy, he does not embarrass or feel uncomfortable easily. Judging by the way the hygienist treated me, I believe him.
I also question the competence of the care there. Often, I would get a different answer to my questions from this dentist than I did from my son's orthodontist whom I have the utmost respect for and faith in. I never worried much as my son has never needed any dental care beyond cleanings and sealants, but, if he had, I would have sought a second opinion.
This is a long review, I realize, but I was treated so poorly by this office that I have trouble distilling it down to a few short sentences. They embarrassed me and treated me disrespectfully. What's worse, they embarrassed my son and made him feel uncomfortable.
This office doesn't care about their current patients. They most certainly won't care about you, either. read more
