I asked for a full bag fitting, and it felt rushed. They told me it would take 2.5 hours, and then I was given a 1.5-hour slot. Rob was nice and clearly knew his stuff, but I didn't feel I got the chance to try the clubs I wanted to because of the rush. I was asked to choose 2 from TaylorMade, Ping, or Callaway GI irons based on looks, and then we would try the shafts. I asked about trying the Titleist but was told they wouldn't be a good fit for me. We went through a few shafts; it seems like some of the standard choices weren't available, so we ended up with upgraded shafts. I ended up with the fitting documents and was told I had to purchase the clubs before I left, or the fee wouldn't be credited. To be fair to Rob, that's a company decision, not his, but I already felt rushed, and then, all of a sudden, I had to make a decision immediately while someone else was booked in and waiting for Rob. In the end I paid for the fitting, walked away, and booked another fitting elsewhere. In hindsight, I should have just picked up a wedge. The clubs I was fitted into at Golftec were at the bottom of my options. The other place gave me 2 months to order clubs and get the fitting fee credited. I've now ordered a full bag, and for the irons, the data told me the T350's were my best option. So I went with Titleist in the end. read more

I get the impression that this place might be good for someone who's already playing golf or part of that world. I've played a bit of golf in the past but not seriously. I decided to dive in and get clubs. I called and spoke with someone and I feel like mostly they operate under the assumption that you have clubs already etc. I told them I didn't have clubs but would like to get some and get instruction. I still received an email instructing me to bring my clubs. Not a great sign, but alright. Perhaps, because I didn't arrive in goofy golf clothing or wasn't wearing a Rolex, I felt like I was sort of talked down to. When I mentioned I wanted to get clubs I was told I was booked for a lesson and not a fitting. I stated I would like instruction also. I could tell the guy helping me was growing frustrated at my lack of understanding but didn't really tell me why he couldn't evaluate or coach me and then tell me what sort of clubs to get. From Super slicer to consistent and straighter I used to watch YouTube, listen to friendly advice, read books and magazines- to make adjustments to my golf swing. After my Charles Barkley phase, I decided to get real help. Golftec- Brent B has really helped my golf game. My score has improved significantly. More importantly I can visualize my swing and ball flight pattern and then transition it to course play. Don't be afraid of the upfront cost- if you score in the 100s this will be worth it because you'll find the game more enjoyable and you'll lose less balls. For whatever reason, at some point, my swing fell apart and so someone told me about GOLFTEC. I decided to give them a try and went for my first video evaluation. That was a good experience that showed me a lot of flaws. From there, however, the two teachers I had were not actually comfortable actually doing any teaching, and seemed more like they were just there killing the hour. I would hit ball after ball with no comment. I have also learned that they are restricted in how they can teach, i.e., they are required to only use GOLFTEC methods, which, as I said, are to largely stand there and watch you hit, which you can do yourself on the instant replay. I finally decided to walk away from whatever money I had remaining on the package of lessons as I did not need more frustration in trying to seek a refund, which I am certain the fine print probably said I would never receive. The current group of instructors based at this Henderson GolfTEC are a fun bunch. I feel welcome every time I walk in the door. In the two years I've been taking lessons here I have only had one coach but can say that I would feel comfortable with anyone on this team.
