Great place! I bought some Ping irons here about 18 years ago and went back there today looking for a new set of "game improvement" irons. Immediately, someone asked if they could help me. I explained why I was there and he directed me towards the back of the store. Within 20 seconds someone else approached me and said they could help. The gentleman suggested I get a swing evaluation, the cost of which would be deducted from the sale price of new irons should I decided to purchase a set. I set up an appointment with Erin for later in the day. Later that day Erin set up different clubs for me to hit over the course of about an hour in their simulator. After about 90 golf shots over more than an hour, we agreed that the Taylor Made Qi irons suited my swing the best. She was very thorough, trying difficult shafts and lies before we finalized our choice. I plan on going back to Erin to select a couple of hybrid clubs in the near future. All the people Golf Galaxy in Paramus were extremely helpful, especially compared to PGA Superstore, right across the street on Rte. 17 in Paramus. (I have a separate review of that experience...) This is the 2nd set of irons I've purchased from them. I recommend them highly! read more

both of my kids are trained there by PGA pro Chris Ellio and we are very happy. He stared with my daughter when she was 7 and hwe only lessons were 30 min once a week and by 8 when she went to over night golf camp she was prepared and felt confident. He is building life long lasting confidence and correct form and playing tools for both of my kids. We enjoy working with Chris very much and are grateful for his expertise. read more

My women's league partnered with Golf Galaxy and had a joint event, at which time Golf Galaxy offered members 20% on everything, including clubs. I told them that I wanted a full set up clubs and they said that if I signed up for a fitting that night, that they would honor the 20% discount whenever I purchased my clubs. I was thrilled! After the first fitting, we selected PING irons, only for the fitter to tell me that PING is not part of the 20% discount. OK, I decided, when I purchased my full set, to buy the PING clubs even though they were at full price. Then, onto my 2nd fitting for woods and hybrids. I told the fitter that I wanted to try a different brand so that I could take advantage of the 20% discount. So we spent over an hour swinging clubs that he brought me and I settled on Callaway Reva Rise. When asked how much, the fitter went to speak to someone and came back and said that he can't give me the discount on these either!! What? Nothing I was purchasing was eligible for the discount?? Absurd! So I asked to speak to the manager. I told him how disappointed I was because I was ready to purchase over $2000 worth of clubs today! I asked him which brands would be eligible for the discount and he said none of the newer sets. "Maybe", if I purchased an old set that came out years ago, but he wasn't even emphatic about that! I asked, then why was I fitted for clubs that wouldn't be eligible for the discount and why would I waste hours of my time! No answer and honestly, no concern! Golf Galaxy lost a customer who would have spent thousands of dollars in their store but honestly, it didn't even phase the manager! read more

I wasn't too impressed with the staff. I walked in with O L D old clubs (TaylorMade bubble 2 shafts) to get grips put on and the guy (older) abruptly shook his head and said we can't do anything with them- almost as an insult to me. I was with a friend who wanted to buy a set of clubs and I should have told him to leave. The guy then assigned someone to him to help with clubs. We went over by the pre boxed sets and the guy stayed for less than 5 minutes. He must've gotten bored. My friend bought the clubs and shoes and we left. We went across route 17 to the PGA SUPERSTORE and they gladly took my clubs to get new grips. I'm not going back here. PGA S gets all my future business. I've since gotten a complete other set regripped, and I've booked practice bays a few times already. read more

After reading the other reviews I see I'm not alone, tonight I was treated poorly in this store by a middle aged male clerk with a beard (I regret not getting a name) while I was demoing their high end putters. This clerks lousy attitude lost them an easy Bettinardi sale and a future sale in the coming weeks for Callaway Mavrik Irons and Hybrids. No wonder this store is a ghost town. I immediately left and took my business to the PGA Tour Superstore in Paramus instead and I was treated as a valued customer by a kind employee named Patrick. Writing on the behalf of my brother who experienced racism at this location. While there were thirty minutes left until closing, (several Caucasian customers and my brother (not Caucasian) at the establishment), the employee (in his 50s) rudely told my brother he needed to leave the store because it was closing. The employee did not ask any other customers to leave. It's truly horrible that this establishment is operating under such terrible values. Went in a few weeks ago to get a pair of shoes, after standing in the shoe area for about 15 minutes finally a staff member walks by me pretending i don't exist and i flag him down and say excuse can you help with something, he radios for someone who does shoes i guess. The guy comes out and i tell him what I'm looking for, after a brief conversation he steers me over to the new balances, and i try on a pair. I was wearing thicker socks than i normally would and the shoes felt really off and tight. Told him I didn't think they fit right and he assured me they were the right size and the socks were just thick, and the shoes would "break in". I concede and buy the shoes. On the drive out i decide to have a look at the Pga store across the street in case they have a different selection. I'm walking around the shoe section and very quickly a staff member asks if i needed help but i was just looking. I walk around the new balance isle, and Low and behold the shoes i just bought from Golf Galaxy are sitting there, in the women's section. Golf Galaxy sold me ladies shoes. read more

Was a bit hesitant to come here after reading the reviews about customer service. Actually went to pga superstore first instead which had about 5 times as many customers. But pga didn't have the putter I wanted to try so came here. Got great service from Jack who hooked me up with a 3 wood (they didn't quite have the putter I wanted either) and the grip I wanted. Dude knew his stuff and just had a good demeanor overall. Would def buy from Jack again. read more

There is a reason Golf Galaxy is having a hard time winning against its online competitors. At least when you purchase something from an online golf shop you don't have to endure the rude customer service attitude of the so-called golf "Pro." I went into the Paramus location on a weekday afternoon at around 3pm with the expressed intent of buying my spouse a set of Callaway irons ($800+) we had researched online. We stopped an employee for help and he quickly gave us the brush off and handed us over to a more junior guy. We happily complied and went and hit a few of the clubs in the bays (which in itself was a bit of negotiation because they didn't have any samples of the clubs other than a single floor model of which they had to tape up the club faces). When we were ready to purchase we were informed that the next fitting that the Pro had was not for another week. There was NO ONE in the store and, it turns out, the first guy who gave us the brush off WAS the Pro. I believe his name was Chris. He was more interested in standing around flapping his gums with the other employees at the service counter in the back than, well, actually providing any service. We asked the kid what our options were and he explained that since my spouse's swing was not yet "set" as she was a new golfer, he could order the clubs standard OR we could just buy a set of starter clubs ($200). He then solicited the Pro's opinion and the Pro shrugged his shoulders, mumbled something, and walked away. While I appreciate honesty and not being up-sold, I think Golf Galaxy is not long for this world. Customers go to a bricks & mortar store for input and advice. They want to get their hands on the product and learn. If you can't get that key feature of salesmanship, you might as well purchase it online and at least save yourself a few bucks and gas. And the self-importance of a "Pro" working in a strip mall storefront. read more

Walked in, spent about 20 minutes looking around and not one person asks me if I need help or if I am looking for anything in particular. Another man walks in after me and two sales associates flock to him to cater to his needs. Drove 35 miles to waste my time. Good Luck on your future, you just lost another customer. read more

just picked up my two shafts from the Paramus location that were dropped off a few days earlier for a shaft adapter replacement for my Callaway 815 driver. Both replacement jobs and grip change looked great in the bag. I have to say Tom was super in explaining shaft mechanics and was a pleasure to speak with earlier in the week. HOWEVER, I asked Christian if I can attach my driver head, which I had brought with me, to take a few swings for feedback in the hitting area. Christian said I would need to pay $20 to rent a stall and that the Callaway stalls were reserved for club fitting only. I thought he was joking but nope he was serious. Wish i had pictures of the employees faces nearby who over heard the conversation. Mom Friday afternoon, NO ONE IN THE STALLS. I speak to Collin managing the hitting area if I can hit a few balls. He says OK. Why wouldn't anyone say "sure absolutely" considering the $120 of work? Collin then gets a radio call from Christian, which i presume was about me. Collin apologizes and tells me that Christian is not allowing me to hit without paying the $20 fee. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT... I pass by the club repair area and hold my tongue, pick up his business card and leave the store. I write my MIXED review in my car of the store parking lot. Thanks CHRISTIAN for the tremendously awkward and unwelcoming experience ever. Whatever happened to customer comes first? I feel kinda bad not giving this place a better rating because for the most part there a good establishment. There is one guy particularly that treats the hitting bays as if there the Oval Office at the white house. I mean come on if you work at a golf store you'd have to expect people to hit a golf club before dishing out $500-$1500. On two different occasions this guy told me "one more ball and you gotta go, these bays are for fitting only" please keep in mind there were around 5 bays open that no one was using and I was about to purchase the iron set I was trying out. I went to another store and purchased the iron set. Aside from there very strict use of the bays I like the Galaxy. Always purchase golf balls there and there clothing is priced much better then the other large store in Paramus. read more

I'm a very regular customer at this location so much so that they recognize me and know me by name. It's from buying equipment and having work done on my clubs on a regular basis the past year or two. Between last night and returning this morning I dropped well over a thousand dollars for 3 clubs and some grip installs. Today, waiting for the grip install for one of the clubs I just purchased 5 minutes ago the manager whispers in his earpiece to the guy installing the grip "check his receipt". Maybe to some it's not a big deal but the lack of respect this manager of the store shows is unacceptable. This lack of respect and trust towards a known customer will push me to NEVER shop or have work done by Golf Galaxy again. There are many options out there and to be honest this Manager (wish I knew his name) has never been helpful. The only reason I continued buying and having work done at this location is because of the staff. They have been very helpful and enjoyable to deal with. All my business will go to the PGA SuperStore. read more

Overall, very very disappointed with this store. Been going to golf galaxy for years at their old location. This new Store is crap. Bad service, obnoxious sales staff. Could never get anyone to help. Even though all the staff are hiding in a corner chit chatting. Walked into a fitting bay and some guys came over and yelled, 'hey , you can't be here, this is for fitting only'. Let me tell you something, the only reason I walk into a retail store is so I can try, feel and touch the products before I'll decide if I wanted a fitting. If I can't Touch, I should just order the stuff online. Oh wait, there is a PGA golf superstore across the street. No issues there. Btw, I change equipment every couple of years, I might come to golf Galaxy for a glove or shirt, but will look else where where I'm serious about equipment. My husband and I went there to return a wedge I bought and to try some new irons. An employee, that appeared to be the manager, was so rude and nasty to me and my children. He kept telling us to stop putting balls and hitting balls on the range, despite being told by another employee it was ok. If we are spending 1k for new clubs, I would expect to be treated with a little more respect. We were told not to buy new clubs and just to get some used ones. In the end, I returned the wedge I bought, without an exchange due to the staff interactions. Go to PGA instead, better staff and better products. read more

Basically his attitude was "what do you want from me....and im here to do YOU a favor." This store is the epitome of why brick and mortar retail presence is a becoming a thing of the past. One of the "managers" of this store, Chris, has to be one of the rudest individuals. It is amazing the arrogance of someone in customer service doing such an injustice to otherwise fine business. Happen to purchase a $300 dollar club during my visit in a matter of minutes as I knew exactly what I was looking for, yet would never shop at golf galaxy again due to their less then helpful management approach. Would say in my 5 minute visit, Chris single handedly ruined a companies reputation to a new customer who will happily continue to shop elsewhere for one of the most equipment intensive sports on the planet. Would highly recommend the store revisit their management, especially reading other reviews with the same comments as it's obvious that problems stem from the "top". I would bet this store location doesn't make it past the year end given other stores in the area which have higher customer satisfaction ratings. Drove from Westchester County to Paramus to try a new hybrid. I need new hybrid and was trying to make sure I had the correct gapping in my set. I asked someone to hit a club and they sent me to a hitting bay. This is where it gets bizarre. I hit a few shots and the distance pops up on the screen but all the stats disappear in a matter of 2 seconds. So I'm trying to see what my peak height is and what the descent angle is. I want to make sure I can hold the greens. The guy comes over and says how's it going. I say I can't see the peak height. He says this machine doesn't give me that info. Really? How is that possible. Another guy comes by and says you should be ok with a descent angle of 38. I say again where does it show that? The numbers disappear after 2 seconds. I ask the first guy can you go back to my numbers? He says no golf galaxy wants me to pay for a fitting. They don't want me fitting myself! So basically I'm either supposed to pay $50 bucks for a fitting or buy a $270 club without knowing all the numbers I'm getting. Really seems dishonest and shady. If I'm buying a club let me see how I'm hitting it. That doesn't seem like a lot to ask. Do yourself a favor And go across the street to PGA superstore. It's a shame because the store itself is amazing. I noticed any Dicks store which golf galaxy is part of is just plain infuriating. read more

Experienced a rude manager/salesman who dismissed my hitting as a way to bypass the range, when in reality I was attempting to find the right club. This was being done on my own because not one of the 7 sales associates had asked if I needed help. Perhaps they figured that since I am young I don't deserve service. Wow Nicholas D.--I had the same exact experience. The store is great...terrific selection, well kept. But the staff was obnoxious. I walked into an open bay to look at the clubs and before I even laid a hand on one one of the employees says "Hey, you can't be in the bay, these are for fittings only". I get it, but he was very abrupt. Besides there was no one in any of the bays and hardly anyone in the store, so clearly I wasn't impeding anyone. The experience didn't leave a good impression on me. Christian Elleo should be fired! I recently was fitted and purchased a new set of TaylorMade p790 irons, a new TaylorMade M3 driver, and to TaylorMade milled grind wedges. All were custom-ordered with custom shafts and Custom Grips. My iron set arrived with the wrong grips and they were kind enough to regrip them on-site however they rushed the process and my grips are not perfectly aligned like you would expect a brand new club to have. My two grind wedges were purchased separately after receiving the irons. They were ordered with custom Lie and grips to match my iron set. It took 20 days for the new wedges to arrive again with the wrong grips. I immediately expressed my concern to Christian Elleo, they're PGA director of instruction. He was rude, arrogant, and condescending! He actually mumbled under his breath on his mic to the front desk after I turned my back " this a****** is leaving with his clubs they're already paid for" I immediately turned around and question him and of course he denied it but then walked up to me with a driver in hand like he was going to hit me. I do not expect to be treated this way after spending $3,000 in the past month at this location. PGA Superstore is straight across the street and I have no intention of ever returning. He refused to fix my wedges without me paying extra after I just custom order them. I am befuddled that people like this are allowed to work in customer service and I strongly advise Golf Galaxy remove members of their staff that treat their loyal customers this way. read more

Long time lurker here, but felt compelled to write this review after my experience today. This place is an average golf store stocked with all of the golf apparel & equipment you could find at any big chain golf store. It is the service that sets this store apart from the store down the street. I went into the store to demo the TaylorMade M1 driver with a buddy and we were greeted by an enthusiastic TM rep. We spent 40 minutes testing the different head and shaft combinations and comparing the results with our own clubs. We were never pressured to buy anything and multiple Golf Galaxy employees came by to help us during the fitting. I didn't purchase anything today but my buddy left with a brand new hybrid! Golf Galaxy will definitely be my preferred golf store going forward. read more

I went to this golf galaxy and off course was let down as the per usual. I spoke to an employee named Chris, who was not only useless, but probably one the most impolite people I've ever met. The guy is a straight fraud and did not let me hit any balls without paying for the club. What is with that? How would I ever know if I wanted that club without hitting a ball first? Chris needs to go or I promise you I will never be coming back and I will be telling all my golfer friends to do the same. Awful customer service and overall experience. I was scheduled for a club fitting appointment today. I waited for 30 minutes before being told that the club fitter called out sick (the manager said she forgot to call me to cancel the appointment). Then, to make matters worse, they had somebody unqualified try to assist me. After watching me putt several times, he said that he could adjust the length of my club. I asked what about bending the shaft to adjust lie/loft etc and he said that he was not a club fitter. Avoid this store at all costs. Last week I went to golf galaxy to try out a few new putters and check out the Callaway Mack daddy 4 wedges. I was instantly met by an employee named Christian Elleo, he was immediately stand off-ish, and rude about me trying the wedges. After waching me hit a few balls, a tried speaking with him and getting feedback as he is "the pga pro" and head callaway representative at the store. He became even more ill mannered and grossly snobbish in response to my questions.. I will say I did love the wedges!...so much so that I left the store and went across the street and immediately purchased two different degrees from the pga superstore because of the way Christian Elleo treated me. I only wish I read all of these reviews prior arriving, could have saved myself a waste of time. It's a shame, it's a nice store but will never return as long as that heinous individual works there. read more

I just want to say what a privilege is that we have two golf stores in Paramus across the street from each other. I have never really had a bad experience at golf galaxy (although I have had a couple with sales staff at the PGA superstore) and the layout at Golf Galaxy is awesome. They have all the latest equipment, they have a bunch of clothes, and the staff are very knowledgeable about their products. There are some good sales, too. Much better than buying anything from you "local pro shop" at a course. read more

I got a custom fitting from a Taylor Made rep named Matt Troeller in Sept. 2014 at this location. Late review , I didnt use YELP at that time. Awesome experience, Matt was extremely patient and very knowledgeable about TM products and golf fitting. After using about 6 diff. shafts on their SLDR TP 430 head he found the right one for me, the Aldila Tour Blue which I custom ordered in my TM SLDR TP driver , SLDR TP 3 wood and SLDR TP 4 wood. The Tour blue shaft lowered my spin rate by nearly 1000 rpm down to 2200 and in combination with the SLDR TP 430 head I increased my carry distance by 20 yards over my previous TM R-9 TP driver !! Also ordered a TM SLDR 3 hybrid. He even threw in 2 dozen TM tour preferred golf balls. Spent nearly $1,800 on my four clubs ... Well worth the experience !!! read more

Golf Galaxy is a cheesy place to deal with. They lie and really arn't interested in a continuing business relationship. Of course some of the golf assistants there are really great but the place in Paramus NJ overall sucks and I'll never step foot in there or that other dung hole that owns them again. PGA is the only way. I've spend thousands in GG and they would not stand behind a lost gift card. All they had to do was deactivate the lost one (which was not found or spent) and replace it. They are lying sacks of shit. They will never get one dollar from me again and I'll be stopping their bullshit spam $ off deals. read more

Most of the sales staff were in a meeting when I showed up here one Tuesday morning last month with my brother as a little diversion from the 3-stop Bergen County hot-dog-eating expedition we were on. I was looking to hit some balls, just a few, and I confess that I had no intention of buying anything that day. It was my first time here, and didn't really look around the whole gigantic store to see that they had some really nice hitting cages down the other end, so I just wandered into a Taylor Made fitting room, and saw a bunch of drivers with "DEMO" taped onto them, so I picked one up and had a whack ... next thing you know, holy moly, this crazed salesman came running in there top speed from the sales meeting a few doors away looking like there was a fire in the firehouse or North Korea had just launched a nuke or something. He yelled "You can't be in here!" I was very embarrassed to have caused such an incident of course, so I tried to just slink away with my hands in my pockets, but the guy kept following me, hysterically enumerating all the reasons I couldn't hit a demo club unsupervised and trying to impress upon me the severity of my actions. I finally got away from him after a few apologies, and then I found these magnificent huge cages down the other end, and I found a demo 7-iron lying around and a salesman who wasn't in the meeting, so I asked him if I could try it out, and he looked at me kind of suspiciously, but said OK. Wow was that cage sweet. It was like 40 yards deep, 20 yards wide and the ceiling was really high. So by the time your ball hits the netting, you know whether it was a good shot or not. We don't have anything like that in Hawaii. Of course it's always golf weather here, day or night, and the driving range is open until midnight, and every golf shop here will lend demo clubs for you to take to the range, so I guess we don't need it, but it was really sweet. If I still lived on the frozen tundra, I'd probably be in here all the time during the 6-month New Jersey winter pretending to be shopping for new clubs. read more
