Gold's Gym (Pocatello, ID) I'm not member. So, this review is coming from someone that purchased a $10 day pass. This gym is spacious, very clean, and equipped with the same machines & weights as my gym at home. I like the way this gym is set up. The second floor is where you'll find their cardio, cross-fit area, TRX, personal training area, classes, and the women's weight room. The first floor is where the magic happens. The first floor is where you'll find the weights and machines. There isn't a ton of benches or squat racks, but enough if it isn't busy. Their deadlift platform is a huge plus for me. Also located on the first floor is their pool, café, and locker room. Overall, this gym is worthy of 4 stars. The only reason I'm giving it less is because of the price of their day pass. I don't think it's expensive, but at this location the $10 pass is only good for one session. At other Gold's Gym locations, their $10 pass is good for a full 24 hours from the date of your purchase. This is a big difference for me since I have a few "two-a-day's" during the week. At the other Gold's, I can get 3 workouts done in a 24-hour period. I wish this gym's day pass was good for 24 hours. Other than that, I will continue to workout here since it's pretty much the only gym in the area. read more

I was a member for 15 years. Always encountered problems. But when I experienced a traumatic event in my life back in July and never used the gym for 6 months. They ripped me off of $250.00. Unknown to me there was a clause in the contract I signed in 2009 that required a signed document to end my membership. They ruined my credit that was at 832 and didn't give a rat's ass about the 15 years of membership. Don't be fooled by these grifters. Money not you are the priority. read more

I've been a member of Gold's Gym for several years. Cleanliness has gone WAY downhill. The ladies locker room is absolutely filthy. They have one changing room and the floor has turned black from all the ground in dirt. And there is hair on the floor everywhere. Absolutely gross. I visited another gym in town this week and looked around everywhere. The locker room, showers, and pool area were very, very clean. And this is a gym that is probably busier than Gold's. read more

These people ... We sign up and their staff is bad mouthing how people are dressed. We are told by the Sales person, that we will pay 30.74$ per month... apparently that is not true. Some mo ths I get to pay 46$ because the bill cycle drops every other monday, and some months have an extra monday in them??? SECOND TIME WITH GOLDS IN 6 YEARS... They got me into a 2 year contract that I can't get out of. I tried talking to them about getting out of it, but apparently they won't let me. The monthly cost of this gym is expensive, so to be stuck in a 2 year contract is pretty insane and unreasonable when I've only used my membership for a couple of months. Go to Planet Fitness instead. I hear they don't have contracts AND they are less expensive. read more

This is the best equipped gym in the area. There is nothing comparable. I really need the lower body machines because I cannot walk very far. Fortunately, Gold's has a number of really good ones and after three years working out there, I have nice legs and behind. My upper body looks good too thanks to me and this great gym. I use this gym when I visit Pocatello for work. It's kind of like stepping into a time capsule. The equipment is on the older side but everything works. They have everything I need. It's relatively clean and during the times I have been, it's not overly busy. I think for the area this is a pretty legit gym. There is a really nice lady who works the front desk who is helpful. Locker room is weird IMO. There are wet swimsuits hanging on some of the locks. read more

I was in Pocatello for some business meetings and was very happy to see that there was a Golds in town. I then saw the ratings of this location and was a bit skeptical to begin with until I went to the gym this morning. This has to have been one of the nicest if not the nicest Golds that I have ever been into. I have been to gyms all across the US and was very impressed by the facility. There is a huge cardio area on the second floor as well as stretching space and group X rooms. The first floor is all free weights and machines. Very nice clean, new equipment. If I am back in town I will definitely be returning for a visit. read more

Fairy decent for the area.Locker room was pretty clean .I live a bit away and do not think I would like a 65 mile trip each time I would want to work out , I have my equipment at home and I am happy with it, but if you are in Poky on business it is not a bad option to hit Gold's once in a while. When I was a member couple years ago , their steam room seemed to be constantly our of order , other than that ..... customer service was not very great , yet not the worst in a country , just once when my card expired and I came to update it the receptionist was kinda rude and I was like come on it only took me couple weeks to catch it , not half a year , cards do expire and if they cared to send me a courtesy notice few weeks in advance I would remembered to update it right on time. That being said I still consider Gold's gym a good working out option for this area. . read more

I was a member at Gold's for many years. The place is poorly managed and dirty. Equipment is not maintained or repaired in a timely manner. There are years of dirt and dust accumulating on the higher levels. And when you cancel the required 30-days in advance, they will STILL bill your account for dues. The front desk people aren't trained to do anything but scan you into the gym and make smoothies. If you ask them for any real customer service, they are worthless. Buyer beware! read more

We were in Pocatello last week. We came out from the Bay Area CA and took advantage of the 3 day free pass. This gym is fantastic from the pool to the weight room to the sauna and steam room to the basket ball court. We are members at 2 high end gyms in CA and this Gold's gym is far superior. Glad we're thinking about relocating. We'll certainly become members. read more

This place is notorious for mishandling accounts , not trying to contact clients and closing your membership with no effort of trying to contact you, the client, until you receive a notice from collections. They have some nice equipment...when it functional and clean, but mostly the steam rooms, pool and sauna are often out of commission, the place is filthy and it stinks. The staff suffers the same outrageous arrogant attitudes as a lot of the clientele. Good riddance, there are plenty of better options in my area. read more

I recently moved to Pocatello and wanted to join Gold's. I've been a long time Gold's member elsewhere, and have always loved Gold's. However, when I went to join this Gold's, they did not listen to me at all when I told them I'd been lifting for over 10 years and had even competed in power lifting. The fact that I'm a bit overweight after an nasty injury seemed to cause them to act as though I'd never seen the inside of a gym. I REPEATEDLY told them I was NOT interested in personal training, yet they continued a very high pressure sale for personal training and were not interested in selling me a membership without it. In spite of telling them my fitness and nutrition background, they still tried to convince me that I needed personal training and that they could transform my body. Given my knowledge and experience, the treatment I received was insulting. Even after I walked away, they continued to call me for several weeks trying to convince me to reconsider joining and getting the personal training package. Sorry, I will not be joining a gym that judges me the minute I walk in the door and treats me in such a condescending manner. read more

I lived in Pocatello for about 14 months and after about 1 month I found out I was pregnant. Thank GOD (sorry...I mean goodness) for Golds gym to keep me sane. If it weren't for Golds I'd have turned into a large potato! Since there is NOT MUCH else to do in Pocatello, Golds gym was both the place I turned to for exercise as well as the place I turned to to keep my son active. This is also the cleanest Golds gym I've ever been too. When visiting Sandy Utah I had the unfortunate experience of going to not one, but two different Golds gyms....both were old, run down and dirty with old, run down and dirty equipment. Not to mention, but I will, the kids club was small and gross. There's really no comparison to the large, clean and friendly staff at the kids club in Pocatello. Plus, it was so nice being able to have my son do different classes like, basketball, gymnastics, and swimming while I got my workout on. My son even LEARNED how to swim here! awsome! The only con was most of the personal trainers don't seem too friendly. Im sure they're nice people....they just don't smile much...or try to sell themselves to you at all....which, as a personal trainer who is around people wanting to be fit and healthy all day, one would think they might try a little harder to, oh...I don't know...become your personal trainer. In fact, I wanted a personal trainer, but they all seemed so put off. My husband started a report with one, of which I ended up using all his sessions. And I'd have to say, my trainer was good....but wasn't always attentive...looked around a lot. When I spend $800 your ass better be attentive! ....plus he would talk to other 'clients' or trainers during my reps which would TOTALLY break my concentration. I hate that. In fact, Im taking away a star. Golds started at 5 stars for me, but as I write that Im taking one away for the bad attitudes of the trainers. Other than that, Golds gym is the nicest and cleanest place in ALL of Pocatello...that and Fred Meyer. read more

Beware of cancellation time. Speaking of gold's gym in general, I can't believe everyone just goes along with this whole "auto renewal" of contracts, "termination fees," etc. Before you know it, you're on the hook for another year. They will send you to collections if you don't agree with charges and refuse to pay. This particular gym won't even take care of their facilities, i.e. broken sauna parts, showers, steam room, etc that get ignored until members start petitions. They don't care because it's so difficult to cancel if you are not satisfied. read more

Golds Gym Pocatello is fantastic! They are continuously making improvements, floors, etc. Adding new equipment and new classes all the time. My favorite is the Group Classes, Body Pump and Combat are amazing! The instructors are always super helpful and challenge you to do more! We also utilize the Kids Club at Golds. We spent a week in Pocatello over the holidays and dropped in four times on guest passes ($5 if you come in with a gym member, $10 if you don't) for a variety of work outs. All the usual gym staples are well represented and there is a good selection of stability/plyo gear. We also made good use of the 25 yard salt pool (cool enough for serious lap swimming). The staff was very nice, notably Jenna at the front desk, and the other gym goers considerate. read more

Gold's Gym of Pocatello is very nice for sure! I like it for the atmosphere as it is so large that you could easily turn it into an arboretum and allow people to fly remote controlled balloons just to get the feeling of how much air moves in that place. The Gym was built a few years back and it is super nice! I spent about 6 hours there on more than one occassion and it is really nice to be at... The only real problem other than maybe the trainers kind of being a little league cheerleading squad, see review above, is that the dumbell section and actual weight training section is not nearly big enough for the amount of space that is covered by Bikes and running things, but there are just tons of specialized machines to get your average betty housewife out and about on, with not early enough for her to do when she realizes that there are mirrors over by the big boys. I love the place though and definitely would love to resign up as the pricing is great for a 2 year contract with about 37 dollars per month the going rate as of end of 2009. The rates though for the trainers is rediculous. Like the reviewer said last review I read of this place, they just dont friggin focus enough and do not look like they themselves are even professional dieticianal trainers. I mean it is nice to have someone give you an idea of what to do, but who wants to have food tell you chew me or on the oppisite end of the scope, your drawers tell you clean me. I was very happy with my membership at gold's for quite some time. That was untill i fell on some hard times and missed one single payment. And thats what started what would be a horrible couple of weeks for me thanks to gold's. After missing this payment i went to try to make said missed payment online. Only to find out i owed 65 dollars rather than the 35 i usually pay (i figured this was a maintnence fee they sometimes charge, no biggy i could afford it at the time) although this somehow led to a 65 dollar charge a 35 dollar charge and then a 7.50 charge??? None of wich actually went through causing my bank to charge me 3 insufficient fund charges (i could have made the last two golds charges if it werent for the first insufficient funds charge). Im angry at this point so i go in and tell them just take out as much as they need, i just want the charges to stop. Im told at this point i owe 75 dollars. More than i'd like to pay but im annoyed so i say okay take the 75 out of my account. All good right? No, not all good. I later that day get a phonecall saying there was an error and i'll need to physically write a check to them for said 75 dollars. I then got a paycheck and 45 was taken out of it almost immidiately due to a gold gym payment. At this point i was just annoyed and fed up so i go to cancel my membership. I go in get my membership canceled and am told no more payments will go through and i will be refunded my 45 dollars. All good right? No not all good. Later this day (AFTER I CANCELED MY STUPID MEMBERSHIP) a charge for 75 dollars goes through. And thanks to the first 45 dollar charge this means another insufficient funds fee from my bank. Im seething. I hate gold gym for putting me through all this. Its now cost me over 200 dollars to pay one late 35 dollar payment. Save yourself the trouble and spend your money elsewhere. read more

I have been a member of this Gold's Gym for a little over 7 years and I read some of the other reviews that were less than impressive. Yes, every business has wear after a few years and the equipment does get some abuse by members of the gym that cause problems and parts have to be ordered. Gold's trainers are fantastic and the equipment may show wear but is always kept to the safety standards that would meet anyone who has reasonable expectations. The staff are very good at what they do and if you want a pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room there isn't any better place around. As far as people who have had problems with billing. I had my credit card replaced and so the billing didn't go through. It isn't Gold's fault I didn't update my information and yes I got hit with fines. My problem not theirs. Own the situation and realize there are hundreds of billings that go through a third party billing system and it is our responsibility to make sure everything is good not theirs. I enjoy the gym and all it has to offer. Classes are very well lead also. read more

The gym has excellent facility's and great programs but when I just wanted some information the staff was really pushy about signing me in a contract today. It felt like I was dealing with used car salesmen even thought I said I can't till next week was asked about 10 times to sign up today and the guy had no idea nor would give me the promotion the online web sight offered but rather tried to sign me up for there regular package right away They need to train there staff better in non pushy salesmen ship read more

Tones of equipment very judgmental feel even from staff. If your heavier set be prepared to have staff talking about you behind your back. I heard many staff talking negatively about their clients and other staff members. It has a very high school feel to it. This gym is about the hype but a clean gym. read more

I've been a member for close to a year. They have great programs and staff, Colton was a great trainer. However do to my severe osteoarthritis I'm unable to use all the great machines they have. So I went swimming for the first and LAST TIME at Gold's Gym, they pool was unclean and so was the the hot tube! I have NEVER seen such a filthy pool in my life. I would not recommend anyone EVER get into that water! There was particulate matter in every level of the water , the whole of the pool was FILTHY. I will not renew my membership. read more
