THIS GYM SUCKS! They engage in misleading and fraudulent membership practices and operate in bad faith. They take advantage of kids who sign up for a summer membership and instead enroll them in year long memberships. Stay Away. There are better options. read more

Solid gym for strength training if you come at the right times. Squat rack and DL platform (could use one more of each), which is all I need. If the benches offered safety features, it'd be much better. Right now the only thing to stop a failed rep is my face, so I stick to the squat rack for bench. Everyone is always friendly. Recently rearranged the strength room, which now has the dumbbells. It feels a little cramped, but it does keep the CrossFit people from doing their romper room bullshit in their now, which was always distracting when trying to lift heavy. So, I guess that's better. Decent gym for $40. I'd love to see more racks and platforms vs all that cardio equipment, but for $40, I'm not u happy their. read more

I travel all over for a living. this is one of the better gyms in the south east. Ive been to busy gyms, this isn't a 10/10 busy. There's plenty of equipment and options. Some people are so hard to please. read more

This place has its ups and downs I workout here every day they need to update their equipment the weights are falling apart and some of the equipment is missing parts and clean you never see any employees cleaning the locker room which should probably be the cleanest place is nasty I wouldn't even wash my dog in there I was changing into my workout clothes and the two minutes I had my shoes off and didn't even walk around just from standing there changing clothes the bottom of my feet were black talked to the manager this guy is a character very unprofessional and very arrogant he walks around like he is king chorals and he told me that they would get the locker room clean I was there for two hrs never seen anyone go in and clean this was 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't been done read more

Military friendly? Negative. Prior employee friendly? Double negative. I submitted paperwork before leaving on orders to Ft. Leonard Wood to suspend my account until if, or when, I return. That lasted for about three months until I look at my account a year later to find they continued charging after a few months. I find this bogus on the premise that 1) I am no longer under contract and 2) I filled the proper paperwork. They have continued to charge my account while I was gone, and now that I'm trying to cancel my membership they want me to jump through hoops by going online to a website that hasn't been working for over two weeks. There is no phone number, they just want to redirect you to a non working section of the website. I assume they would sent me to collections if I forced my bank not to accept charges. I have found out recently from numerous other bad reviews that apparently to cancel you actually have to submit paperwork to their corporate office for consideration (?). I'm not even trying to get my money back, I am just tired of being charged by a gym I don't live near and that I submitted the proper paperwork to discontinue. The Rush was great, and furthermore a great place to work for. This place is garbage. If it was worth my time I would take them to small claims court. P.S. regrettably some very good staff members still work here from the Rush. This is not a reflection on them, but rather this archaic and serpentine business model they work off. I love this gym for years when it was The Rush. Gold's took over and they redecorated everything to drab (from bright and lively), stripped the color coding off of the machines, posted more stringent policies about "noise", and cut the hours. Frustrated and disappointed. read more

This place used to be great when it was the Rush but now the fees are the same and every location in my area closes by 12:00 am. I work third shift at a hospital and the only way I can work out here now is if I come in after 8:00 when I am already extremely exhausted. If that isn't bad enough, every other TV is turned on to Fox News which might as well be considered state tv at this point to brainwash the boomers. I will be canceling when this month is through but fortunately for me, I will be moving to a city with better options. read more

Well it's got one squat rack, one dead lift platform, a big tire (and a baby one), I think 4 places bench press but for some reason the bars are almost always missing from 2 of them, dumbbell rack I think goes up to 100lb, the center is like this octagon monkey bar like thing it's interesting, a bunch of your standard workout machines you see everywhere, 2 Jacobs ladders, a pool and a spinning room. The plates for the most part are in ok condition there are some that are getting blown apart.. there is also a mix of some different style plates in there and they got some bump plates too. All and all it's an ok gym.. read more

Been a member there since it was called The Rush, probably going on 10 - 15 years now. The facility is nice, but very poorly maintained. You will find messy unclean weight machines, broken, rusty equipment and also the bathrooms / locker rooms are usually filthy. The management / staff will not be there to help you if you have problems, either. I have had issues with other members throwing weights and slamming them so badly that you can hear them all the way from the front desk. When you ask the staff to do something, you will get absolutely no help. According to them, as long as you are using rubber coated weights, you are allowed to slam the weights all you want. Please note that ALL of the weights are rubber coated. One member was dropping 185 pounds from a full standing position with arms raised, where the weight actually bounces in a very unsafe manner, and he was doing this within 2 or 3 feet of other members and using chalk (which are both not allowed in the gym). The other member feared for her safety and was visibly upset and told the staff, so the staff came out and had some kind of talk with the offensive member, but he did NOT stop doing it. The staff said that they allow that training, evidently in spite of safety concerns. So the slamming continues even though for years this facility has not allowed it. It seems like Golds only wants your money, and as soon as they get it, they do not care about anyone. The staff allows members to walk around the facility with bare feet. They allow unsafe behavior and will not enforce the simplest of gym rules, and will not be there for anything after about 6:00 in the evening. The entire management staff LEAVES the facility and no one is there except the front desk person. So there is literally a "free-for-all" type of environment, where you are there at your own risk and no staff is there to make sure you are safe and welcome to train. Honestly, I have been in gyms in many states and even overseas, and this gym is the worst. I am still in shock they are allowed to call it "Gold's" as that usually implies a fantastic gym experience. Also... the pictures that are on here (Yelp) and Gold's own website stating that they are pictures of the gym are a blatant lie. read more

When I signed up it was all good but then they acted like they wanted to help me with what would best fit on a work out plan. It turns out it was a set up to try and get you to buy into their trainer program. They wanted me to pay them an hourly rate to pay for a personal trainer and when I said no they started with high pressure sales tactics and then focused on humiliating me saying that I need a trainer, that I wasn't going to lose weight without one. After the bad experience I tried to get out of the yearly contract and their main office said it was too late. I haven't been back since. My contract is up at the end of this month. read more

I went to this Gym to get information and they refused to tell me anything about the gym until I filled out name, address, phone number and email. I asked to see the facility, they sent someone to escort me, then said I had to sign a waiver. To walk down a hallway? I asked about prices, couldn't get an answer. It seems they felt they had some right to be asking me all the questions, when I am the potential customer? What was it that was so dangerous about their facility and why didn't they want anyone to see it? Something to hide? Terrible, abrasive sales techniques. So I asked some locals about it and found out they do have a pool, that they are very overpriced, their lowest price is higher than Planet Fitness' highest price across the street. And Planet Fitness has some memberships for just $10/month without obligation. Planet Fitness doesn't have a pool, but it's a nice facility. At least they were happy to show me their facility. Gold's Gym seemed to have a lot to hide. read more
