My daughter got injured and couldn't use the gym so we needed to cancel it. First we called the gym and she was advised it's cancelled and we need to pay the cancelation fee which is okay. After two weeks we were told we need to cancel with ABC, so two weeks passed by and they charges us again because you have to give 30 days notice. Then now they are charging me again, and when i called to ask Macken ( not sure if i got he's name correctly) he was very rude and told me that he doesn't need to explain anything to me and hang up the phone . It's very unprofessional , lot's of other gyms out there and way cheaper, and better service. I read the others reviews and i got the same answer WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Country hills location. HARD TO CANCELL MEMBERSHIP. They starching things so they get more money. We paid $319.20 for nothing, Ridiculous read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE If I could give zero stars I would. This gym has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have been trying to cancel my gym membership since November 16, 2024. Though I met my obligation date they are stating that I have to make 2 more payments after my obligation date. What sense does that make??! I cannot speak to anyone at the gym to explain the nonsense that is going on. Emails back and forth that contradict each other. The only attractive part of this gym is the child care but it really is not worth the stress. read more

scam scam scam!!! do not sign up and save yourself the greif. they will mislead you when signing up, blatantly lie to your face whenthey signing up, when you try to leave, the pull a figure out of the air for you to pay. it like they are punishing you for leaving even after your contact ends with them. there are so many discrepancies with their procedure for signing up and leaving. again!! do not go to this gym nor sign up with them!! read the other reviews, everybody is not lying. read more

I would have given less than one star if possible. They make you go through hell once you sign the agreement to cancel.

i thought golds gym was a good gym but i was wrong. the place is over packed they give way to many people memberships. no machines ever available. child minding is horrible the people who are supposed to watch your kids are miserable. can never get in a program cause there always packed . they don't work with you in any way. they just want your money. wether your there or not. do not go to golds gym the worst gym i've ever been too. read more

The Gold's Gym owner suddenly change the policy for transferrable membership to non-transferrable without customers' consent or notice. And the staffs are insincere like they don't give a damn about it when we customers trying to argue that our contract says our membership is transferrable, but then the staffs just said "well, we can't do anything about it, either just cancel your membership or suck it up and keep paying for it!" read more

I just want to express myself about what happened recently, last month we had our membership registration at Gold Gym Douglasdale Calgary. During our fitness assessment "she" discussed a lot about fitness and health in general and "she" offered training to us, it's very clear to her that during our conversation we said we only wanted to familiarize some equipment, we don't need training because we're so busy with our jobs. After a lot of conversation about fitness, she told us to sign electronically directly to her computer, as we understood that it was part of our gym membership and fitness assessment. After a few days, the coach contacted us to have a schedule for training and again we understood that this was part of our gym membership or familiarization of the equipment that we asked for during our fitness assessment then we were surprised that they deducted the training from our bank account. Then I and my cousin decided to end the training coz we didn't have time to go to the gym every day because were so busy with our work and we only goes to the gym if we had free time. Then I contacted the PT in charge and I said we don't need training as we mentioned to her during our fitness assessment, she said that we already had a 1-year contract and if we closed the said contract we need to pay a cancellation of 450 dollars OMG! We didn't even agree or confirm that we wanted personal training. NO discussion about the contract and training policy, and NO discussion about the termination policy were just surprised that we already enrolled in the training. So we don't have any choice but to pay the cancellation fee. I think as a customer we have the right to know and to be informed about any contract that we signed. It's so stressful and we just considered this as a bad experience. The gym itself is so amazing very clean and has complete equipment I even invite my friends to have a membership in the gym. Haist! read more

I was scammed. I paid the membership throughout the covid period, requested them, emailed, waited hours in phone to cancel the membership, but couldn't. They keep charging. It is weird that government is turning a blind eye on a scam of this scale. It has even been covered by media: https://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/golds-gym-members-frustrated-as-billing-continues-through-closure If this continues, it wont be just about Gold's gym, it will be about Calgary government, and its attitude towards protecting its denizens from frauds and scammers. I call for the intervention by the authority. Please. We work hard to earn that money that we have been scammed off. read more

WARNING! Check your contracts, they have an automatic membership renewal thing that you need to cancel or you'll be drowning in debt with this crappy gym. I haven't been using the facility and wanted to cancel membership during pandemic but they charge me a lot so I decided to just wait for my contract to end and I was told it is ending last June then all of a sudden it was extended til Oct. after I cancelled my membership auto renewal. You can avoid the headache I have right now, be aware of this rip off gyms modus! read more

These people are total savages. the gym wasn't even open this year, however they just keep taking money out of my account. I have now racked up a bill with golds for over 200 dollars, for a service that didn't exist. They automatically extended my membership without my knowledge or consent, and keep giving me fees and charges for nothing. I will be doing my best to give these uneducated bunch of apes a bad reputation until they fix my account. read more

I have been going to country hills golds for 2 years now. And yesterday was one of the worst experiences in any gym. I would like to replay the incident in detail but it not worth my time any more. So all I'm going to say is the sale person... Trina was one of worst people I have dealt with. So much so that after two years of being happy with golds. I have decided not to renew my membership. Please be careful if thinking of becoming a member. To them all you are, are dollars and nothing more. No such thing as customer service. Thanks for nothing Trina. read more

After calling ahead to make sure I could do a drop in and taking a cab to their location.. I was told that because my licence isn't from Calgary that I couldn't actually do a drop in but they offered a membership read more

Beware ! Very complicated when you have to cancel membership they will charge you cancelation fees Even they did not tell when we got membership read more

There's nothing good about this gym since I started coming here. From day 1 of signing up they already messed up my accts starting to charge me more than they supposed to. And That was May and now is December and you know what still the same issue they are start taking more than my fee again this is actually the 3rd time of dealing the same thing over and over again with them. If I were you stay away from this gym! read more

This gym is the best gym I've been to in the 20 years I've been working out. The staff are friendly, the hours are extremely convenient, and there's every type of equipment that's needed to help get the result's you're looking for. Special shout out to Mercedes and Steph for helping make the classes (that are also offered!!) more than just a workout! read more

Okay gym. Will not recommend for other's but most people go there because it's close from their work or home. There are better gyms.

Good gym, friendly staff. I like that there is a large amount of equipment and that there are enough elliptical and treadmills to accommodate everyone. Two things to improve, I would rate it higher if these were to happen. 1. Change the cleaning rags to wipe equipment more often. Some of them are pretty icky. 2. The music is awful. Play something energetic to pump up your clients for a workout! The same 6 or 7 Hip Hop songs over and over again gets boring really fast! Plus they are fairly dreary songs. They don't inspire me to push myself harder, they inspire me to take a nap! read more

Where do I even begin. Employees are too busy try to get new customers that they neglect the old ones and fail to improve the gym. The men's locker room always smelt of sewer which was never fixed. I had been lied to and promised free months for having people sign up only to have an excuse that since it was a family add on they couldn't give free months (which at the time of sign up was not an issue according to them). August of 2020 I finally cancelled my membership after being charged even during the covid lockdown when the gym was shutdown due to government restrictions. That's right, other gyms paused payments but this one kept taking your money even when it was illegal to go there. 4 months later I have received 3 charges completely out of the blue on my credit card. Despite not being a member of the gym for nearly 4 months they decided to come take more money from me. They accounted it as "because I cancelled my membership but not the family add-on the add-on is still active." However didn't touch on the fact that for 4 months there were no charges after cancellation. It's like all of the sudden they thought "hey, here's a way to scam an old member for more undeserved money". After contacting them about the charges then conversation ended with a big "F*ck you" as they gave me the email to ASF support basically telling me to go fix their fraudulent charges myself. Overall terrible gym, awful employee mentality of "get commission by only focusing on new clients", and if you want to feel completely irrelevant and scammed out of money even after you're no longer apart of it, sign up for the gym. read more

Bunch of scammers! When you sign the contract good luck to get out of it! I sign for 1 year and after a year, I have issue cancelling it. I already contacted their ASF Payment Solutions department which they hang up and dont cancel my contract which is already over!!! I had to report fraud at my visa to collect my money back and now they sent me somekind of fees??? I had also need to change my visa card as they were billing me by-weekly even though i send 30 day cancellation email which i didnt get any respond and also said that they need to delete my credit card from the system, which they didnt!!!! They dont respond to my email neither my phone calls!!! I already put on BBB! Lots of issues with cancellations! Shame on you!!! And please dont say email to membersupport@asfpaymentsolutions.com, which I already did with no respond!!!!! Cancel my membership!!!!!!! read more

I moved in the area to Skyview just about 1 month ago and I love it here! I drove by Gold's Gym to inquire about a membership and dealt with Shafique. I was very impressed with him. He took the time to explain what I needed to do in order to achieve my fitness goals, what equipment would benefit me, etc. He then got me the best deal I could ask for and I locked in for 2 years because I know this is the place where I want to workout while living in this area. This is the best place for anybody that wants a full range of equipment and hard working staff to help you with whatever you need! read more

Do not and I REPEAT DO NOT sign up for a membership because you will be SCAMMED. SAVE YOURSELF DO NOT REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKES AS ME!! I even read the reviews about hidden fees before signing up BUT I DIDN'T LISTEN. I asked the worker if I could cancel anytime when I want without being charged and they said YES. I WAS DUMB AND DIDN'T READ THE CONTRACT. They have NO IDEA what they're even talking about. They just want to STEAL ALL OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. I went in to cancel and they said I have to pay $200. Are you kidding me? I have 4 kids to feed, was recently laid off, WHILE going through a divorce. I can not afford to pay this. They said my only option was to transfer the account but how could look at another human being in the face and let them go through this HELL that I currently going through. PLEASE I AM WARNING YOU, if the other reviews couldn't change your mind. PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS ONE. There are so many other gyms that don't practice these unethical terms. Do yourself a favour and whenever you hear the words "GOLDS GYM" RUN THE OTHER WAY AS FAST AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN! read more

I purchased a membership back in April 2016, was advised by staff of the new club opening in June of 2016, Thats one of the reason I purchased because I live in Airdrie. Delays and was told, july, then August and no one could advise of opening. I cancelled my membership in September, dropped off an written notice and was accepted by staff. T to find out Golds Gym placed my membership in collections, and placed a credit notice of $1025, I called the collection agancy and they advised to call Golds Gym, Called three times and left messages and no one has called me back. This is very un professional, when i only had 6 months left, why didnt know one call or send a notice before this was sent out for collections. Writting this, hoping someone will answer and possibly email or call me on my cell ,frankbarone1960@gmail.com,403=888-0455 read more

DON'T DO IT. Remember that scene in Star Wars with the trash compactor? That's the cleanliness standard for this place. The pool and hot tub are the worst, just a big steaming batch of buttcrack soup. Also, They make it look like a big gym but if you see all the equipment that's broken down, it's not actually all that impressive. Staff is (usually) rude and unhelpful *roids* ahem. Sales department is so shady, Hades himself got pregnant just from seeing their slippery dealings - and I'm definitely not the first member to have a bad experience with their sales department. There have been clerical errors on a regular basis that have costed me extra money in late fees because they didn't fill out their own direct debit paperwork properly (I'm not making this stuff up guys, and it was an ADULT that did that). The real mule kick to the scrote though, is they promised me no cancellation fees when I signed up. Sounded great to me because I knew I'd be moving within several months' time. Now they won't return my calls when I ask why they aren't honouring it, and are trying to charge me $300+ in cancellation fees. If I could do it again, I'd sign up for GoodLife or buy myself a 12" barbwire dildo just to have a more pleasant experience than Gold's Gym. I'd recommend you do the same. read more

Horrible gym. lots of broken equipment, pool area has food laying on the ground. staff is friendly enough, but account manager there is rude. I got random charges on my account for up to $250 and all he said was "sometimes the system glitches". very unprofessional answer. Also when i signed my contract, the cancellation fee was 5% of my remaining total payments. When i try'd to cancel my membership after i had been charged and refunded various random amounts of my account, they told me i had to pay $200 now to cancel! i asked to see my contract i signed to prove it should be 5%, ($85) of what i still owe. They brought out a different contract with my signature PHOTOCOPIED and told me this was the "new" policy and they copied my signature onto this one without my acknowledgement or knowing. Very sketchy process, very shady. still trying to get my membership cancelled. The quality of the gym is not worth this hassle. i would advise going somewhere else to get your workout in. read more
