I decided to write a review after seeing all the negative reviews. I paid 6000.00 dollars to become a travel agent with Goldrush. Goldrush Getaways is not for everyone but if you travel they have great deals and commissions In essence, you are buying a business just like you would a franchise, or any other business. Many people set up their own websites and expand their travel agency. There is a learning curve but that is nothing new. Goldrush is not a scam. It is a reputable travel agency recognized by cruise lines, train travel, and every other imaginable tour. They tell you this in their presentation and they do not pressure sale you. It is nothing like timeshares, but if you like traveling, I highly recommend taking a look at Goldrush Getaways. Item of note: If you sign up for yourself, you may find yourself booking travel for family, friends, friends of friends and the list goes on. When people find out you are a travel agent, they want to find out what you have to offer and the commissions you earn are not bad either. read more

You would earn commission but you would be selling to friends or family. Sounds too good to be true then it probably is. What a colossal waste of time. Just not worth it in my personal view. Run from this place! These guys are 1st class scammers. We lost $1500 to them after going to one of their presentations. That's on us. Here's the deal: You sign up and pay to become one of their "travel agents" and supposedly get huge discounts, but it's all a con. When we went to book our first trip they told us that we had to pay full price, then accumulate points, which would then be redeemed for money. When we checked other sites for the same trip on Kayak or hotels.com, it was much cheaper. So you pay top dollar up front, then in theory Goldrush gives you some money back. That's if you have accumulated enough points. When I asked about how we get these discount trips on my second class there, the whole class groaned as the guy explained it. Everyone thought just like us, they were going to get some portal or link to discounted trips, but that's not how this works. read more

Pure scam ... I got a letter in the mail stating that if my numbers matched I was guaranteed a prize ( one of four), they did say there was a 90min presentation ... I did expect that but then they wanted you to pay 9K to become a travel agent (what a scam it costs 100USD to get a license) ... anyway I wanted my gift and out. As a last resort they gave me a few certificates (one for a cruise to Mexico) but you have to pay a couple hundred dollars to even get any kind of coupons for it. In all fairness this review is for the free trip certificate they are baiting people in with and not the Service they are trying to sell you during the presentation. I actually took the 3 Night Mexico Cruise on Princess out of San Pedro with flight and pretty much regretted it from the start. Called travel agency to schedule and was told the flight (which is typically 1 hour) will have multiple layovers and take two extra days because the flight(s) will be for the day before and day after the cruise. Surprisingly (or not), If I pay $250 more per person I can be upgraded to a non stop flight on the same day the cruise leaves/returns. With that upgrade my free trip for 2 was now up to $800. They wanted $400 up front for taxes/fees/deposits for me and my wife. Obviously they use the cheapest-worst Airline possible - Spirit Airlines who basically makes money from baggage costs. Save yourself the expense and heed my warning. With early booking directly from the Airline and Princess Cruises you'll pay pretty much the same as their "free trip" but without all the hassles. The agent mentioned that most people don't like these terms so alternately I could forfeit my cruise & flight for 2 nights in Reno... enough said. read more

We were signed up for this membership but thought it over to cancel due to expenses. It would not fit into our travel arrangements these next couple of years, and frankly it was way too much money for minimal discounts. We reached out within our three day cancellation policy; however, we were given a phone number and email to do so, without anyone calling us back. In short of actually going into the office, we are sitting ducks. I did not feel comfortable signing up from the beginning and would hope they would honor their cancellation policy. I was hoping to give the benefit of the doubt, but I can feel that this place really is only out for money. Which is unfortunate. ****UPDATE******* Mike reaches out to my wife and stated he would be able to email the cancellation forms directly to us and cancel our membership. Instead, we were sent a screenshot of how to reserve a room with the proper training. As well as a request to discuss a different membership for a lower cost. The discussion was to cancel our membership and receive a credit for our down payment. Neither was done. Please stick to your gut and do not purchase anything from here. What a scam! They called me and told me that I won a free three weekend getaway to Las Vegas, so I was like what the hell. They precisely stated no kids so we decided to get a babysitter. The babysitter was late and we ended up being ten minutes late. Really? We are enjoying our discount travel for family and friends and we just competed our first group trip to Jamaica for about 30 people and the commission received help to subsidize our trip! If you are interested in learning the travel business there is an abundance of training available AND we got our CLIA card at a discount price. Most of you are talking about winning a prize. There are 2 separate things to review here: Goldrush Getaways, and the marketing company they use to give gifts in order to get people into their talks: Casablanca Express. Please state which you are reviewing. First off: Casablanca Express SUCKS! Their "free" cruises change the normal fees/taxes for a 3 days cruise (around $220) to $400+ in order to get you to pay more. Check the same cruise on your own, and you'll see the port fees are much less. Also their idea of a "3 day cruise" is get there in the afternoon of 1 day, spend the next day, and leave the next morning. THAT IS NOT 3 DAYS!! Of course, you can pay $$ to upgrade for a longer cruise, better room, or quicker flights. That's where they make their money. GG would be better off using another marketing company. Second: Goldrush Getaways should STOP using Casablance Express to bring in customers. Sure, the free gifts sound great, and get you in the door, but as soon as you find out the fine print, folks blame Goldrush, when in fact it's Casablance that you dislike. Lastly: Goldrush Getaways is on ok company. If you travel a lot, they can save you $$ on rental cars, cruises, hotels, and more. I don't like that they offer it for $8990 but if you go in a private room you can talk the salesperson down to $2450! That seems like a HUGE markup! If you want to join, don't pay more than $2450, and don't go for the free cruise. Also I'd like to say that the person on the phone lied to me. That is also not GG, but another marketing company. They told me the talk was an hour (they won't let you leave before 90 minutes is up), and that the cheapest gift was the ipad, which we would probably get, and could sell on ebay for $500. What a LIE! Everyone gets the cruise, and it's a cruise from hell! Take the restaurant gift CARD, but if it's a Restaurant.com card, you got scammed again. Need to train staff I called the number from the letter scheduled the day, then day before received a call telling me if I was not a couple I could not go. I was like fine but you need to train you people better. Not five minutes later received another call telling me it was her first day and I could come. I stated if they cannot figure out who can and can't come how do I know they can give prizes or service. The first time we went on a weekday presentation, coming from San Francisco, there were 2 accidents and we were late, then they won't let us do the presentation. Ben offered an additional restaurant gift card for not being able to accommodate us to the presentation and reschedule us on a weekend. I was so adamant to come back but my husband wants to go back and just have a firm mind of just getting the freebies and say No because we've done a timeshare presentation before, said no to it and was able to use all the gift getaways that we got. The presentation is not a timeshare, it's not a multilevel marketing, it's something else that offers you to buy a lifetime membership that is transferable and with an annual $149 dues including tax. I don't know why others felt they were pressured to buy because the presenter himself told us that before he starts that they are going to offer us something, in the end, told us the amount of $9000 and after the presentation just let them know if it's for us or not and they will not even pressure us to buy. There are 3 couples including us in the presentation, the couple next to us literally just took the gift and bail (which we intended to do at 1st), their sales agent didn't even hassle with them. In the end, we honestly find value to what they provide. We got the lifetime scaled down membership for 2 that is transferable. I know other people think it's a scam but if you truly learn to know the ins and outs of how to utilize their program it's a deal even if you don't sell any of their travels to anyone and just use it for yourself. I know you can be an outside travel agents and not pay anything but training prices varies and when it comes to travel there are a lot of moving pieces and doing training is consistent but if you're a member of GoldRush all of it are free (well we haven't gone to one that it isn't, may it be on campus or online). They are now a preferred partner with Expedia and I use Expedia to most of my travels. Now I book at their Expedia GoldRush Agent website, I get the same price or lower plus I get commission and my Expedia member points, how cool is that! I think their affiliation to Expedia is one of the reasons that got me sold. read more

If your considering that -- this is better -- no question in my mind there Q: Is it worth the cost? A: Hard question to answer but read my previous review and your know that if you have a flexible schedule or retired or travel a lot with the family -- you will save money. Estimate saving + commission you probably save at least 10% per trip. So for a $4000 trip for the family that is probably $400. If your doing a cruise or something with higher commission -- it is much higher like $800. Q: When you should not do it.. If you're not married, make sure you have some thing that has you and your girlfriends address on it together, bring a credit card not a debit card, and make sure you make enough money to get the cruise offer. This is not a timeshare. You are buying the ability to get travel discounts on major hotels/airlines/packages, etc. So yea, it's roughly $8,000 plus $495 registration fee and $150 a year to keep the membership up. If you don't travel a lot it's not worth it at all. Me and the lady sat thru the sales presentation. Got grilled to buy it, when we didn't, we got passed to 3 other sales reps to try and force us to buy. Each time they will discount it a bit more, eventually going to a $4,000 option or a try it for a lil while option for $1,000 then use that as a credit to get the life membership, that has survivors benefits (You an give it to your kids) During the high pressure sales presentation I was bored and started googling the company. Say ton's of bad reviews. Check out google plus, yelp, complaintsboard, rip off report, yellow pages, etc. Several people mentioned that they could get better deals by purchasing the same trip thru Expedia. I mentioned that to my first "salesman" and he agreed. Before I had a chance to talk further with him, I was given a different salesman. Eventually I was passed to the manager for my last hard sell. I tried to get him to Pull up some travel packages on internet travel sites like expedia and compare them to what his company can do; but he downright refused to do it. So no idea if this company is legit or not. I didn't get my $100 gift card they promised, but did get the 3 night cruise voucher. Be advised you will have to pay $300 or so to get a bare bones no window stateroom and you will have to go thru multiple requests to get your travel date; if ever. Best option pay for an upgraded stateroom (You'll be glad you did) and you'll get a travel date. read more

I have to briefly comment on Jeff O's comment about my review. Yes, I did get my deposit back but it took a very long time and a LOT of phone calls. It wasn't simply that the bank had a problem and the mistake was fixed promptly. You didn't address the budget motel on the outskirts of San Francisco. I fell compelled to write this review given the number of negative reviews by people that are NOT members. Basically, many on here are making very incorrect assumptions that this agency and their offers are a "scam." I can assure you that's not true at all. In fact, some of these statements really make me wonder about the intelligence level of the average Californian nowadays. Not only did we have an excellent experience at our initial presentation, but our deep questions were answered (I'm a pretty savvy traveler), and we were able to negotiate our way to a payment plan on the deposit itself. Because we already own timeshare, we also negotiated a lower rate without the condo weeks. We were able to leave there with a membership, two gifts (a 4 night cruise and a 2 day hotel package) - both through Casablanca Express (who it's important to realize are NOT part of Goldrush - they are a third-party marketer and people are reviewing Goldrush based on their experience with Casablanca's promo gifts are being....well, stupid). We paid only $100 every week until our initial deposit was paid. It worked out great. This is an excellent program for two types of people: 1. If you travel a lot, or if you take expensive vacations (or both). 2. If you want to do a little work, and reach out to others, and make money off of others' travels. Those saying they've never used their memberships, and blaming the company for that, are just ridiculous. Are they supposed to call you and encourage you to use a product you paid for? Those that are basing their reviews off of a mailing they received are also being ridiculous. Again, they use third-party marketers. In the last 3 months, I have personally made $835 in commission (that's after Goldrush takes their cut). This membership will pay for itself in a couple years, at most. I'm spending LESS money to book the same properties on Expedia TAAP, AND I'm keeping the commission for it. I'm saving money every single time I book a hotel, a rental car, a tour, or even city pass or sports tickets! I keep 100% of the commissions on our personal travel. I keep 60% of the commissions I earn for booking other people. I got the word out to friends and coworkers - I haven't done any sort of marketing to attract "customers" from strangers. But if you apply yourself just a little - especially if you think about those you know that travel - you'll be able to make the Goldrush membership pay for itself. But don't sit back and expect the company to just hand stuff to you. You are covered under their insurance and Seller of Travel bonds, their "top tier" status as an agent - those benefits benefit you! - and they have preferred relationships with many vendors so the system is all set up for you - just apply yourself, take advantage of the classes and seminars they offer, and travel for less, every single time. Read the fine print on the mailer. You've almost certainly won the cruise and your "prize" costs $249 / person when accounting for port fees that are not included (and would normally cost only $100 / person when booking anywhere else). But they leave out that you have to sit through a multi-hour sales pitch and what should be a 1-hour direct flight they've made into a multi-leg journey with layovers, charge even for carry on bags (Spirit Airlines), and it might not be the airport closest to you. You have to pay an extra $500 for direct flights. So your "prize" costs somewhere in the range of $800-1000 if you want reasonable flights. This might still save you a bit of money if you don't value your time, but it's pretty questionable whether it's worth all the hassle. The one star review is because their marketing is misleading and scummy. If they just told you all this up front and let people make a clear decision about whether they were interested in this offer, then I'd have no problem with it. Instead they rely on all sort of dark patterns and get you to slowly commit more over time (e.g. give a refundable deposit, etc.) Federal law says that advertising must not be misleading. We decided to became a member after presentation but couple days later we changed our mind cause we really dont travel a lot, and it would not make sense for us. So they refunded our money. We signed up for a presentation after being pitched in a street fair. I can't say they were disingenuous about what the presentation was going to be about, but obviously didn't tell us enough about it either, which I suppose is kind of the point, they want you to get the full pitch. We paid $20 which basically a penalty for not showing up (you get it back when you come), which I felt was acceptable enough given how much people flake nowadays, and I figured the freebies they offered had to have a catch, it's not like anyone can really afford to give away thousand dollar or even multiple hundred dollar freebies to anyone in the street. Walked into a Fair and saw a tent with a big sign that said "win a free trip", jumped on the chance and we actually won a free trip to San Diego. So we decided to listen to the presentation and kept an open mind. After the presentation we had several questions. Which were answered. We were the youngest couple in the room by at least 30 years.... So it was a surprise to them when we raised our hands first to take advantage of the $1000!! So now we are members and we have spend some time reading the material, it's pure genius. By making the members travel agents, they receive the same rates, benefits, and booking expectations as agents! Wish I would have thought of it. We are so excited about our future travel plans! I recently became a member. I was very skeptical at first, but after going to the classes and see just how great of a value being a member is; I'm glad I did it. The staff is very sweet. Melonie in particular is super helpful and very kind. Any question we had about being a member Melonie was able to answer with clarity and helpfulness. I never felt like I was a burden to her. After spending over $7,000 for this fantastic travel opportunity 4 years ago, we decided we would have Nancy (one of their many tour consultants) book us a 11-day tour package to Rome, Florence, and Venice with airfare for Sept 2019 for our 50th anniversary. We received an email advising that "this tour" consisted ONLY of hotel reservations for these 3 cities she obtained from Expedia for April 2019. She said we would be able to go onto Expedia website and book them ourselves to receive our "commission" directly from Expedia. Gee, what a XXXX ripoff. This place is a scam! Tracy at Gold Rush contacted us back. She read my critique and called us. She apologized for Nancy. She explained Nancy was working with 3 clients at one time and sent us the wrong information. Do NOT even WASTE YOUR TIME with them!! I feel stupid that we got sucked into it, but I think this can be really helpful to others, and that's the main reason I am sharing it. My partner and I were at the Art and Wine Festival in Mountain View, and our kids were attracted by a spinning wheel. They won. The sales guy convinced us that we won a trip, or a cruise, and in order to retrieve the gift we needed to show up to a 90 minute presentation, with no obligation to sign anything. To make a long story short, we went to this presentation and after 3 minutes I started having a headache. The woman giving it, did not breath for 90 minutes, talking non-stop and trying to convince everybody in the room that they could save us all thousands of $$$ on each travel. She said many inaccurate things, but I admit that for half the time I couldn't really follow her. My partner was bored and started googling them (too bad we did not do it in advance!) and found horrible reviews on Yelp. Now I know why. They try to sign you up for a membership fee of $8,990 + $149 annual dues + $495 for I don't know what. The sad thing was the people there totally in awe for what this woman was saying. I couldn't understand it. They noticed that my partner and I were not really interested as others, and tried to catch our attention, but didn't really work. We ran out as soon as we could. Went to the "90 minute" presentation. Before it was over we had been there 2 hours 45 minutes and been passed to not 1, or 2, or 3, but 4 different sales people trying to get us to fork out thousands of dollars to become members. We had done some cruise pricing research before attending the presentation, but when I asked 2 different sales people to show me the member pricing (savings) on the cruises I had researched, they refused. Their sales pitch membership started at over $10,000 PLUS an ongoing annual fee. By the time we left, the price was down to $1,500 but we still walked. They admittedly offer no savings on air travel. Not sure they offer savings on cruises. What can I say, they weren't willing to show me a real comparison! But I came home and did some more research on travel agent commissions and figure you need to go on AT LEAST 20 cruises, probably more, to break even on your investment. On the plus side, everyone we interacted with were pleasant. Wasting money just isn't my thing. read more

I wrote a Negative review on this business on 11/23/2019. Almost immediately, I was contacted by them, with an offer to return my $20.00 deposit, which we put down, to attend their 90-minute meeting. But after reading the many negative reviews, once we got home, I wrote the review. They said, just sent us your address and we will return you deposit, however, if you do decide to keep your Sunday Appointment and are not interested, we will refund you $40.00. We did not go, and still have not received the $20.00 back over a month now! Don't go to this place, it is such a rip off. It is a waste of time. They offered us a weekend getaway to Las Vegas and after so many phone calls and faxes we ended up with nothung. They told us they would look into it and then never contacted us again. Then they offered us a $100.00 restaurant gift card which really wasn't worth a $100.00.
