They don't make the prices up, they have listings of what things cost so it's the same price for everyone. This is my HVAC company for as long as I own my house and live in Wonder Lake.

He tested the control board and said it was the issue, collected my service fee, then an hour later sent an estimate for more than the price I paid for the oven two years ago. I can look at the part online and they are wanting to charge double, plus $500 for roughly the same labor that they just spent doing for a $65 service fee. So while they were quick to respond and nice enough... I'm still up a creek with less money and more wasted time.

He quoted the project and after that explained all the details I was asking about (even I was asking quite a bit more than a usual customer would). As a result we slightly corrected his initial standard proposal to better fit my not quite standard case. His price was sure better than those big companies estimated. After being a customer of Allied Air Conditioning and Heating Corp. for 37 years and watching deterioration of service level there as well as a price increase I'm switching to ThermPro Heating and Cooling on a permanent base for all my HVAC needs. I can see that here you can talk it through and find solution (possibly even not a standard one) that will fit your needs and checkbook. Corporate America does not operate this way (it just cannot) - they have a set of rules and some company standards that they have to be within, but I, as a customer, do not care about.
